FALLS COUNTY NEWS.
By Special Correspondents

DOTT DOTTINGS.

To The Democrat:

The drouth has been broken.  We have had two good rains and some hail Friday, but not much damage done.  Peaches were thrashed off the trees.

Lee Anderson is visiting here from Robinsonville and reports good rains and no hail.

Mrs. Brown has returned from her sons in Coleman county, and reports dry weather out there.

       J. W. Lane is on the sick list.

Quite a crowd from here last week went fishing but we did not see any fish.

The frost spoken of in last week's Democrat was in April 1881.  Eighty two was the big crop year.  Poor hill land made a bale per acre.

We would be glad to hear from all parts of the county.  What has become of Uncle Reuben:  Is it possible that he went skating and got crippled?

DENNY DOINGS.

To The Democrat:

Married, at the residence of Rev. Labeaum, W. M. Kay and Miss Lillie Williams, Rev Labeaum officiating.  They have the best wishes of their many friends.

Geo. B. Beard and family of Odds visited relatives here several days. Mr. Beard is just recovering from a serious illness.

       W. N. Moore paid Reagan a visit Monday.

There is a move on foot to enlarge the size of our school district, and if it is successful another room will be added and two teaches employed for another year.

We are informed that oil has been discovered near here.  An expert from Beaumont pronounced it to be the genuine article, but as to the quantity we are not advised.  Denny may yet be the center of an oil field as a few believe it will.

Crops in this section are doing nicely, notwithstanding the cold weather we are having.

The school at this place has closed for the term.  The school was cut short two weeks earlier on account of measles being in the community.  Our teacher, Mr. Cobb, has taught us the best school that we have had for many years.  Mr. Cobb is perhaps the best educated teacher that we have ever had, having been educated in one of the State normals.  He will spend the summer in California.  We hope he will return in time to teach our school another year.
                                                                       Occasional.
