To The Democrat:

The crop is about gathered, but very little of it is sold.  There is various opinions in regard to future prices of cotton.
We are getting the benefit of some of our president's prophecies.  If you remember, he said about the time of that standard oil fine of twenty-nine millions, that capital was going to pool together and try to bring about a financial crisis on the windup of his administration, and of course lay it to the charge of the administration.  Well we will have a chance to find out which is the strongest, our government or the money of our multimillionaires.  But we are going to have a tough time while ware finding out.
By the way, Bro. A. L. Moore and Bro. Warren were by here yesterday from Mooreville and they say that the church there is doing fine.  They have had sixteen additions to the church this year.  They have paid their preacher and responded literally to missions, both and foreign, and they are going to send their pastor, Bro. A. F. Moore, to San Antonio to the Baptist State Convention.  I wish that every church in Falls county would be as progressive.

To The Democrat:

We have had lots of good rain since our last writing, which was badly needed as the ground was very dry and hard and stock water scarce.

       J. B. Butts shipped three cars of nice hogs to Fort Worth.

Clair Brown is making preparations to move to the Indian Territory right away.  We wish him much success.

The Grove school is progressing nicely under the control of Miss Jem Kirkpatrick.

       A. S. Butts and wife spent several days at the Dallas Fair.

Rev. B. J. Patrick will preach on his regular time next Saturday and Sunday.

Rev. J. P. Skinner will preach at Powers Chapel the second Sunday at 3 p.m.

       J. B. Butts was in Marlin on business Thursday.

Shon Asbury has sold his old place and will move; do not know where.
