A. N. Bowers, Pioneer Criswell Community Resident, Dies

     A. N. Bowers, 75,  resident of the Criswell community for many years, died suddenly of a heart attack Sunday morning at his on an Otto Route.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Criswell church, with Rev. Joe Walts, pastor of the Otto Baptist Church, and Rev. Ernest Ledbetter of Criswell officiating.  Burial in Criswell Cemetery.  Littlepage in charge of arrangements.
     Deceased was born July 27, 1879, in Groesbeck, and had lived in Limestone County and in the Criswell community all his life.  He was a highly respected Christian gentleman, having been affiliated with the Methodist church for many years.  His numerous friends will regret to hear of his sudden home-going.
      Pallbearers will be sons-in-laws of deceased.
     Survivors include his wife; two sons, Garland A. Bowers of Waco and Vernon N. Bowers of Greenville; eight daughters, Mrs. Alta B. Caddell and Mrs. Gertrude Stone of Otto, Mrs. Thelma Walts of Killeen, Mrs. Ora Breed of Reagan, Mrs. Nellie Moore of Crosbyton, Mrs. Frances Weaver of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Betty Barker of Bryan and Mrs. Ruby Hill of Rosenberg; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Bowers Rites Held Tuesday

     MARLIN, June 7--SPL--Funeral services for A. N. Bowers, 74, longtime resident and farmer of the Criswell community, were held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Criswell school.  Rev. Joe Walts of Mart officiated.  Burial was in Criswell Cemetery.
     Mr. Bowers died Sunday after becoming ill at his home.  His widow said he took some medicine and apparently felt better.  She found him dead in a chair.
     He was born in Groesbeck and moved to Criswell when he was 24.  He married Miss Mary Walts of Thornton on Dec. 19, 1904.  He was a director of the old Otto State Bank and was a school trustee at Criswell for many years.
     Surviving are his widow; eight daughters, Mrs. J. L. Caddell and Mrs. H. F. Stone of Otto, Mrs. J. A. Walts of Killeen, Mrs. A. H. Breed of Marlin, Mrs. E. G. Moore of Crosbyton, Mrs. I. K. Weaver of Wichita Falls, Mrs. A. T. Barker of Bryan and Mrs. R. L. Hill of Houston; two sons, G. A. Bowers of Waco and Vernon Neil Bowers of Greenville; 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
