Daniel Elmer Wooley, b on the Pottawattamie Indian Reservation in Kansas on January 22, 1869, d at Golinda, Falls County, Texas in December 1950, and buried in the Harris Cemetery at Rosenthal, Texas-he was a son of Robert Franklin and Amy Ann (Rosencrants) Wooley, Daniel was only eight years old when his family moved to Texas and he first attended school at Majors Chapel (named for Dr. Rufus C. Majors) in Falls County. Lillie Gaines, who later married Fleming T. de Graffendeid, was one of his classmates. Daniel later attended the Cottonwood School, and then the school at Robinson, Texas.
Daniel Elmer Wooley was a county news reporter for "The Marlin Ball"-a newspaper edited by Oltorf in 1888. He was active in politics, civic duties, and a preacher and teacher for the black population. Sometimes, he even served as their "Legal Advisor."
In 1889, Daniel Elmer Wooley married Mary Alice Allen, b January 28, 1860 in Hanover, Ohio, d June 1, 1939 at Golinda-a daughter of Spencer and Caroline (Thomas) Allen, natives of New Jersey and Virginia, respectively. The had six children-all born at Golinda, Falls County, Texas:

Robert Henry Spencer Wooley, b February 28, 1890, d January 20, 1976-married October 19, 1916 to Katie Frances Brewington, b October 2, 1897 at Bowling Green, Kentucky-a daughter of James Lester and Sarah Alice (Boyd) Brewington.

Caroline "Carrie" Amy Wooley, b February 20, 1892-married John Thornton.

Balwin Wooley, b October 30, 1893, d June 27, 1894.

Daniel Kenneth Wooley, b December 29, 1894, d August 21, 1895.

Mary Rose Wooley, b May 1897-married in 1920 to Lawrence A. Buckner.

Ripley Arnold Wooley, b December 4, 1901, d September 1975-married Freda Miller.
