HENRY C. WELCH

 

 

     Henry C. Welch, b ca 1880, d 1951 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried there in Calvary Cemetery - married in 1903 to Mary Etta Smith, b September 11, 1885 in Grimes County, Texas, d February 16, 1958 and buried in Calvary Cemetery. The couple lived in Marlin most of their married lives.

     Mr. Welch was a carpenter and engineer for the Majestic Hotel and Bath House until his death.

     The couple had two sons and one daughter:

     Dollis O. Welch - who married Vera Iola Swinnea, and they are the proprietors of their own business establishment in Marlin.

     Robert Welch, who resides in Marlin.

     Mrs. Earl Hickman - no further information.

     Mrs. Welch was a descendant of James Pratt Plummer, b 1834 at Fort Parker, Limestone County, Texas - a son of Luther T. M. and Rachel (Parker) Plummer, natives of Maryland and Illinois, respectively. Rachel and her two-year-old son, James Pratt Plummer, were kidnapped during the Fort Parker Indian Massacre in May 1836. Rachel died soon after her rescue in 1838, and James Pratt was released in 1843.
