FELIX LAFAYETTE WALLACE

 

 

     Felix Lafayette Wallace, b August 16, 1860 in Bibb, Alabama, d June 7, 1933 at Travis, Falls County, Texas, and buried in Phillips Cemetery there - was a son of John Leith and Fran M. (Pratt) Wallace. In December 1888 in Falls County, Felix married Nancy Ann Godwin, b December 30, 1868 in Alabama, d October 30, 1900 at Live Oak, Falls County, Texas and buried in the Live Oak Cemetery- a daughter of Levina (Padgett) Godwin of Alabama, and her husband (first name unknown).

     Felix came to Falls County, Texas in 1878, settling in the Travis - Live Oak area, where he lived for over fifty years. He and Nancy had four children:

     Lafayette Hopkins Wallace, b May 4, 1890, d May 10, 1890 at Live Oak.

     Nettie Eugenia Wallace, b August 20,1891 at Live Oak - married June 15,1921 to Charles J. Stuckey.

     John Luther Wallace, b March 28, 1895 at Live Oak, d April 30, 1957 - married Florence Amerine.

Van Maurice Wallace, b October 16, 1900 at Live Oak, d January 21,1902. After Nancy's death, Felix married second on April 16, 1903 to Irene Lucretia Curtis, b April 16, 1883, d July 3, 1949 at Travis. By his second wife, Felix had five children:

     Oran Winfred Wallace, b January 12,1904 at Live Oak - married Letha Burkes.

     Eva Mae Wallace, b September 21, 1905, d September 27, 1905.

     Weldon Bailey Wallace, b October 30, 1907 at Live Oak - married first to Aubrey C. Abbott, and second to Virginia (maiden name unknown).

     Farrel Lee Wallace, b August 12, 1909 at Live Oak - married in 1945 to Melba Sproule Franks.

     Harold Wayne Wallace, b August 18, 1915 - married in October 1941 to Lina Florence McDarment.
