WILLIAM G. RUBLE

 

     William G. Ruble, b June 25, 1885 in Falls County, Texas, d April 9, 1955 at Lott and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott - was a son of Jesse Glouchester and Tennessee (Allen) Ruble. William G. Ruble married first to Leni Magee, b July 8, 1888 in Falls County, d March 14, 1914 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott - a daughter of Norvell Abner Magee, b 1846, d 1914 and his wife, Caroline Elizabeth (Collins) Magee, b 1851, d March 15, 1926 and both buried in Beulah Cemetery with his parents, Reverend Calvin Magee, b January 6,1808 in Mississippi, and his wife, Mary Teresa, b 1828, d 1914.

 

     William G. Ruble established a drug store in Lott, Texas at an early date, and it was in continuous operation until his son, Jack Ruble, ceased operations in re- cent years. William G. and Leni (Magee) Ruble were the parents of four children:

 

     Merlin Ryan Ruble, b September 27, 1908, d February 12, 1979 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott. No further information.

 

     Mary Elizabeth Ruble - no information.

 

     Tennie Lee Ruble - was a school teacher in Lott and Marlin, until her retirement. She married Jack Edgar Gardner, b December 28, 1900, d April 26, 1969 in Marlin, and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott. Jack and Tennie Lee had no children, and she continues to reside in Marlin.

 

     Jack Ruble, and his wife, Marie, lived in Lott, Texas, where he operated The Ruble Drug Store until recent years when he retired. They had children.

 

     After the death of Leni (Magee) Ruble, William G. Ruble married second to Mrs. Elmo (Barton) Crouch, b January 4, 1886 at Reagan, Falls County, Texas, d May 10, 1969 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott - a daughter of James Fleming and Anna (Chapman) Barton - natives of Reagan, and widow of William W. Crouch, by whom she had a daughter, Cordelia Crouch, who was reared in Lott, Texas and taught school until her marriage to John Ramsay Taylor, Sr., of Rosebud, and later of Marlin, where he owned the International Harvester Company. John Ramsay and Cordelia (Crouch) Taylor had one son, John Ramsay Taylor, Jr., who lives in Dallas, Texas.

 

     William G. and Elmo (Barton-Crouch) Ruble had only one son, William G. Ruble, Jr., b March 25,1924, d May 15, 1925 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery in Lott.

     Mary Elizabeth Ruble is listed as the daughter of William G. and his first wife Leni Magee. 

     She was in fact, the daughter of William G. and Elmo (Barton-Couch) Ruble.  Mary Elizabeth Ruble was b July 29,1919 and d March 6, 1987. 

     Mary Elizabeth married Percy A. Williams and they had 2 children:

     Mary Allen Williams b March 11, 1942.

     William G. Williams, b February 17, 1956. 

     Mary Elizabeth (Ruble) Williams taught school for many years in Lubbock, Texas.
