CHRISTIAN THEODORE RADLE

 

 

     Christian Theodore Radle (called "Theodore"), b September 30, 1873 in Grimes County, Texas, d May 28, 1937 in Lott, Falls County, Texas and buried in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery near Otto - was a son of Phillip and Amelia (Metser) Radle, who settled in Falls County in 1876.

     Theodore was reared in Falls County, Texas; and it was there on November 2,1893 that he was married to Margaretha J. Vogel, b August 29, 1873, d March 30, 1951 and buried by her husband - a daughter of Conrad Vogel, b August 14, 1846, d December 18, 1919 and his wife, Margarethe Lenke b July 14, 1847 in Germany, d June 3, 1932 - and both are buried in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery near Otto, who settled in Falls County, Texas in the 1880's.

     Theodore and Margaretha (called "Maggie") were the parents of twelve children - all born in Falls County, Texas:

     Philip Radle - died less than one year of age.

     Frieda Radle, b ca 1895, died and was buried in Mart, Texas. She married in Falls County on November 6, 1913 to Arnold Schreiber. They had a son, Herbert Schreiber, who died as a young boy, and is said to have been buried in St. John's Cemetery. Arnold and Frieda moved to Mart, Texas. They had Stella, Laura, and Clarence Schreiber.

     Adolph William Radle, b July 28, 1897, d July 26, 1983 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - married in Falls County on January 10, 1918 to Cora Margaret Tepe, b December 23, 1900 - a twin to Clara Jane Tepe, who married Adolph's brother, Ernest Jon Radle, and a daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Karnowski) Tepe. Adolph and Cora had four children: Lydia Lorraine Radle, b December 26, 1919, d October 18, 1978 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery, who married I. H. "Butch" Woodard; Mary Lillian Radle, b October 24, 1925, who married William Grayden Hunt, b October 12, 1920, and resides in Austin, Texas; Joe Leroy Hadle, b 1933, d November 22, 1936 before his third birthday "of tonsillitis" and buried in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery near Lott; and Adolph William Radle, Jr.,b November 28,1937 in Lott - who resides in Houston, Texas.

     Ernest John Radle, b March 11, 1899, d March 30, 1967 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery at Marlin - married February 1.4, 1920 to Clara Jane Tepe - a twin to Cora Margaret Tepe who married Ernest's brother, Adolph W. Radle, and a daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Karnowski) Tepe. Ernest John and Clara Jane had four sons.

     Walter W. Radle, b December 15, 1900, d May 29, 1978 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - married in Falls County on November 16, 1922 to Elizabeth Tepe (called "Lizzie"), b June 10, 1903 - a sister of Cora Margaret Tepe who married Adolph William Radle, and of Clara Jane Tepe, who married Ernest John Radle - older brothers to Walter W. Radle; and a daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Karnowski) Tepe. Walter and Lizzie had five identified children: Helen Martha Radle, b February 9, 1924 in Lorena; Irene Katherine Radle, b January 18, 1927 in Lott; Doris Marie Radle, b March 9, 1931 in Lott; Eu- gene William Radle, b January 30,1934 in Lott; and Shirley Ann Radle, b June 30,1937 in Lott. No further information.

     Martha Radle (called "Mattie"), was married in Falls County, Texas on January 22, 1919 to D. H. Clowers. They had three children: Hazel Clowers, now deceased, who married a Mr. Waites of Lott, Texas; Clayton Clowers - now deceased, who married, lived in Rogers, Texas, where his descendants also reside; and Joyce Clowers - who resides in Rogers, Texas, married and had children. No further information.

     Isidore Herbert Radle, b February 21, 1906, d March 22, 1908, and buried in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery near Otto, Texas.

     Robert Conrad Radle, b January 6,1907, d August 3, 1981 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - married Eleanor H. Nehring (sometimes called "Ella"), b December 19, 1912, d September 13, 1984 and buried by her husband in Hillcrest Cemetery. Robert and Eleanor were the parents of one son and five daughters: Alice Clara Radle, b March 15, 1931 in Falls County, Texas, who married Darrell Leach and had Craig Leach - a building contractor in Burnett, Texas, and Tammy Leach - who died at about age 23 years, while a college student; Bobbie Jean Radle, b December 7, 1932 at Otto, Texas, who married Bernard Neumann, resides in Mooreville, Texas, and works at Citizens Bank in Chilton, and had Karen Neumann who married a Pilot and resides in Austin, Texas, and Janet Neumann, who married a Mr. Niemeyer and had three children; Edward Robert Radle, b March 26,1934 at Otto, died about age five months; Norma Lee Radle, b July 9, 1915 who married first to a Mr. Holland and had Eric Holland and Wendy Holland, and married second to a Mr. Cranmer, has no children by this marriage, and resides in Houston, Texas; Betty Lou Radle, who married a Mr. Beasley; and Linda Kay Radle, who married a Mr. Sides.

     Tillie Radle - lives in Robinson, Texas. She married William Block. No further information.

     Clara Radle - live in Eddy, Texas. She married Otto Huber, now deceased. No further information.

     Arthur Radle (called "Otto"), b November 22, 1910, d August 9, 1971 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - married Dorothy Luker, b February 3, 1926, and had four children - three sons and a daughter. No further information.

     Norma Radle - died and was buried in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, where she and her husband, a

Mr. Penny, lived. No further information. .

     Christian Theodore Radle wrote his Will on December 15, 1936 - about five months before his death; and he left everything he had - an estate valued at about $2,000.00, to his wife, Margaretha (Vogel) Radle, and named her as his executrix. She filed the Will for probate on June 14, 1937.

     Most of the Radle descendants who now reside in Falls County, Texas, are descendants of Christian Theodore and

Margaretha J. (Vogel) Radle.
