REINHARD ANDREW NEUMANN

Reinhard Andrew Neumann, b September 19, 1873 at Patterson, Texas - was a son of John Neumann and his second wife, Louise Charlotte (Sander - Pinkert) Neumann who settled in Falls County, Texas in 1883. Reinhard attended Blinn College, and the family united with Perry Methodist Church.

On December 27, 1900, Reinhard Andrew Neumann married Louise Marie Wehring-one of six children of Henry and Wilamina Marie (Homberg) Wehring who married December 24, 1869. Wilamina Marie was a daughter of Henry and Wilamina (Rosenbaum) Homberg who came from Hanover, Germany to Amer- ica in 1861, and settled near Brenham, Texas. The children of Henry and Wilamina Marie (Homberg) Wehring were: Melinda Wehring, Emma Wehring, Lydia Wehring, Louise Marie Wehring who married Rein- hard Andrew Neumann, Otto Wehring, and Henry Wehring. Henry and Wi lamina (Homberg) Wehring had come to Falls County in 1872, and they bought a farm in the Perry Community, where they became members of the Perry Methodist Church in 1872-the same year it was organized. Their crops were destroyed by grasshoppers, and they returned to Washington County, until 1898, when they again moved to Falls County and settled east of Perry.

Reinhard Andrew Neumann owned half of the family farm with his father, John Neumann, and he and Louise Marie lived there after their marriage. By then, Reinhard owned the farm located north of Perry - and a part of it is still owned by his son, Erwin R. Neumann.

Reinhard Andrew Neumann contributed much to his community, the schools, and the Perry Methodist Church; and it is said that he contributed much during World Wars I and II. He was a farmer. He began serving as Trustee of the Perry School in 1910, and held this position for twenty-five years; and also served on the County School Board of Trustees for thirty-three years. At his death, the State of Texas recorded a memorium, and a page was written in the journal of the House of Representatives.

Reinhard Andrew and Louise Marie (Wehring) Neumann were the parents of eight children:

Edna Neumann who married December 12, 1923 to William J. Walter and had three children: Evelyn Walter Wade, William Roy Walter, and Doris Walter Scruggs.
