TERRELL ("MOSCOW") JACKSON

     Terrell Jackson (called "Moscow"), b February 22, 1831 in Alabama, d April 5, 1903 and buried in Eddy Cemetery at Eddy, Texas - was married in Alabama to Ann Haseltine Stewart, b December 22, 1832 in Alabama, d November 7, 1926 and buried by her husband.

     About 1854, Terrell and Ann moved to Mississippi with their oldest child, remaining there for about fifteen years. In April 1862, Terrell enlisted in the Confederate States Army at Kascuesko, Mississippi - serving in Company K, 4th Infantry, Featherstone's Brigade, Loving's Division, A. P. Stewart's Corps.

     After the Civil War, Terrell and Ann Jackson moved to Falls County, Texas with their five children - settling in the Durango area, where Jackson relatives had settled earlier in 1852. Terrell was a merchant at Durango, and on December 9, 1875, he was appointed Postmaster at West Falls - a community near Durango. The local people called the community "Moscow" because that was his nickname, and the post office was located on his land.  

     Terrell and Ann were of the Methodist faith, and reared their children in that church. Their five children were:

     Samuel Jackson, b ca 1853 in Alabama - no information.

     John Henry Jackson, b March 17, 1855 in Mississippi, d October 27, 1927 and buried in the Eddy, Texas Cemetery - married Ruth Ann (maiden name un- known), b February 5, 1859, d September 15, 1924 and buried in the Eddy Cemetery. John was Postmaster at Oxidine in 1901 - the post office later being transferred to Lott, Texas.

     Charles Stewart Jackson, b September 9, 1857 in Mississippi, d January 4, 1915 - in Woodman of the

World, and buried in the Eddy Cemetery - married

Sallie (maiden name unknown), b February 27, 1864, d February 26, 1928 and buried in Eddy Cemetery. Charles had a livery stable in Durango, and later in Lott.

     William E. Jackson, b September 5, 1861 in Mississippi, d July 8, 1945 and buried in Eddy Cemetery. No further information.

     Thomas Jackson, b ca 1867 in Mississippi, d ca 1889 - married Ida Cox (nicknamed "Two-Mammy"). After Tom's death, Ida married second to Willis Densman.

     A grandson of Terrell and Ann (Stewart) Jackson, Stewart E. Jackson, b February 5, 1876 in Falls County, Texas, d February 8, 1954 and buried in Eddy Cemetery - was a Sergeant with the 650th Aero Squadron in World War I. No further information.
