JAMES P. HIGGINS

 

 

     James P. Higgins, b February 1848 in Giles County, Texas, date of death unknown - was the eldest son of Robert S. and Anna Elizabeth (O'Neal) Higgins, natives of Tennessee, who brought their family to Texas and settled at Blue Ridge in East Falls County.

     James P. Higgins was married ca 1878 to Martha E. Williams, b November 1858 in Alabama, date of death unknown - a daughter of Jehu Williams, b 1825 in South Carolina, and his second wife, Amanda (McDowell) Williams - a widow Herning, who settled on Blue Ridge in the Stranger Community of Falls County, and later in the Blue Ridge Community.

     James P. and Martha E. (Williams) Higgins lived in the Blue Ridge Community, and were members of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church. He was a farmer. They were the parents of eight known children:

     Robert A. Higgins, b August 1879 in Falls County, Texas - married August 20, 1914 to Ida Bell Hall in Tyler, Texas.

     Mertie Higgins, b September 1881 - no information.

     Lelia Higgins, b September 1883 - no information.

     William P. Higgins, b July 1886 - no information.

     Zena Higgins, b December 1888 - no information.

     Edine Higgins, b July 1891- no information.

     Clayton Higgins, b June 1893 - no information.

     Homes (sic "Holmes") Higgins, b December 1895 -- no information.
