WALTER A. GLOCKZIN

 

 

     Walter A. Glockzin, b January 16, 1899 in Washington County, Texas, d March 5, 1965 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas and buried in Perry Methodist Church Cemetery in Falls County, Texas - was a son of Henry Glockzin, Sr., and his wife, Matilda (Behnke) Glockzin, b 1857, d 1915 and buried in St. Paul Cemetery in Falls County.

     On May 17,1921 in Falls County, Texas, Walter married Lillie Quandt, b December 24, 1901 in Fayette County, Texas, d July 1, 1954 in Falls County and buried in St. Paul Cemetery - a daughter of William and Marie (Lemke) Quandt. Lillie came to Falls County with her parents in 1914, when the family settled in the St. Paul Community.

     Walter A. and Lillie (Quandt) Glockzin were the parents of five children - all born in Falls County, Texas:

     Walter A. Glockzin, Jr., b October 8, 1922, d February 29, 1940 of a ruptured appendix and buried in St. Paul Cemetery. He was a high school student at the time of his death, and was on the Marlin High School football team.

     Elizabeth Marie Glockzin, b June 11, 1925, d July 25, 1953 and buried in the St. Paul Cemetery - married Edward Purtell, and had no children.

     Lydia M. Glockzin, b August 12, 1927 - married September 4, 1948 in Rosebud, Falls County, Texas to James C. Coker, b February 25, 1924 in Fort Deposit, Alabama - a son of Cyrus Norman and Lula (Branch) Coker, and had seven children.

     Richard Glockzin, b June 27, 1929, d April 29, 1972 and buried in Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin - married April 26, 1952 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marlin, Texas to Anna Benke, b September 22, 1930 in Falls County - a daughter of Joe and Annie (Tepe) Benke, and had four children.

     James William Glockzin, b August 30, 1933- married June 25, 1955 in Marlin, Texas to Lucy Ann Adams, b March 27, 1935 in San Antonio, Texas - a daughter of Johnnie Barnes and Lucille (Byars) Adams, and had four children.

     Walter A. Glockzin served in the U.S. Navy during World War I. He was a farmer in the St. Paul Community of Falls County, and after the family moved to Marlin, he worked with the Barnett Hatchery. Walter

and Lillie were members of St. Paul Church.
