THOMAS CHARLES GLASS

 

 

     Thomas Charles Glass (called "Tommy"), b August 25, 1931 in Temple, Bell County, Texas - was a son of Hugo Bernard and Hester Virginia (Crump) Glass. Tommy grew up in Rosebud, graduating from Rosebud High School in 1949, and attending Texas A&M and The University of Texas. He later began farming and drilling work with his father. From 1953 to 1955, Tommy served in the U.S. Army - spending part of that time in Germany, and being discharged with the rank of corporal.

     On June 6, 1959 at the First Methodist Church in Rosebud, Tommy married Mary Frances Hiles, b March 8, 1938 in Georgetown, Williamson County, Texas - a daughter of Raymond Leander and Winnifred Henrietta (Clark) Hiles. They had three children:

     Sheryl Lynn Glass, b October 23, 1961 - married June 5, 1982 to Carl James Fuchs. She received a B.S. degree in education from Baylor University in 1983. Carl and Sheryl have two children: Caleb James Fuchs, b January 4, 1983, and Laura Lynn Fuchs, b February 21, 1985. Carl James Fuchs was b November 23, 1961 in Rosebud, Texas - a son of Werner Ralph and Clara Regina (Bucholts) Fuchs, and was one often children. Carl farms in Westphalia in Falls County, with his brothers and his father.

     Thomas Charles Glass, Jr., b October 16, 1964 at Rosebud - is not married.

     Jennifer Kay Glass, b October 21,1974 at Rosebud - is in school in Rosebud.

     Tommy has worked for the U.S. Postal Service since 1965, and has served as postmaster since 1981. He also has farming and cattle interests in Falls County. Mary Frances (Hiles) Glass graduated from North Texas State College and Baylor University with B.S. and M.S. degrees in education. Among the schools in which she has served as teacher are Killeen, and Marlin - and she has served as teacher and principal in the Rosebud Independent School District.
