SANFORD QUAY GARRETT, JR

     Sanford Quay Garrett, Jr. (called Sandy and S. Q.), b February 1, 1918 in Falls County, Texas, d July 12,1985 in Angleton, Brazoria County, Texas and buried in Stranger Cemetery in Falls County - was the eldest child of Sanford Quay and Agnes (Mitchell) Garrett - both natives of Falls County. On December 5, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas, Sandy married Hazel Vandalea (Reed) Mrosko, b July 15, 1915 in Falls County, Texas, d December 5,1971 in Houston, Harris County, Texas and buried in Stranger Cemetery – a daughter of Lee Henry and Gertrude Jane (McAndre) Reed, of Marlin, Texas.

     Sandy was a 1935 graduate of Marlin High School attended Trinity University, The University of Texas at Austin, was superintendent of Chilton Independent School District, a bulldozer operator working to bun the Dow Chemical Plant at Freeport and other defense plants during World War II, a farmer, a commercial harvestor, and while living on the family farm Stranger - built all the stock tanks in the community. At the age of forty, he returned to college - graduation from The University of Houston School of Pharmacy with honors. He owned a drug store for a time in Angleton, Texas; and worked as a pharmacist with his brothers, William Henry and Thomas Rice Garrett, in their drug stores until his retirement. He also held a real estate broker's license. Hazel was a laboratory technician, working in hospitals or for doctors in Marlin, Freeport, and Houston. She had two daughters b: her marriage to James Mrosko: Loretta Faye Mroskl who married first to Robert Lewis Stirm, and married second to Tom Allen in California; and Gertrude Jani Mrosko who married Robert Eugene Davis of Marlin Sandy and Hazel reared her two daughters, and had four children:

     Joe Reed Garrett, b December 17, 1943 a Stranger - married first to Harriet Joan Evans and had Joseph Sanford and Michael Lee Garrett and married second to Dawn (Tarver) Schuster, and resides in Lake Jackson, Texas where he is a pharmacist an owns two pharmacies.

     Daniel Ryan Garrett, b April 25, 1946 in Harris County, Texas - served in the U.S. Navy as a Pharmacist Mate in Okinawa during the Viet Nam War-- married Cecilia Moody, and had no children.

     Douglas McAndrew Garrett, b June 22, 1947 in Marlin, Texas - married Judith Ann Coleman and had Ryan Trace Garrett. Sandra Susan Garrett, b September 25, 1948, d October 19, 1980 in Houston, Texas, and buried in Stranger Cemetery - was not married.
