JACKSON MARION FREEMAN

Jackson Marion Freeman, b March 28, 1837 in Robinson County, North Carolina, d March 25, 1903 at Chilton, Falls County, Texas and buried in Carolina Cemetery - was a son of Benjamin and Ann Elizabeth (Todd) Freeman, of North Carolina.

Jackson enlisted in the Confederate States Army in 1861 - serving as a corporal in Company A, 31st Regiment, North Carolina Troops, during the Civil War.  About 1866, Jackson Marion Freeman was married to Sarah Margaret Watson, b June 7,1837, d May 17, 1902 and buried in Carolina Cemetery - a daughter of Alexander and Sara (MacLean) Watson.

In 1870, the couple, with a three-year-old son, immigrated to Texas by wagon train - settling at ChapĀ­pell Hill in Washington County, Texas, where three more children were born; and they subsequently settled in the Durango area of Falls County. Their children were:

Benjamin Freeman, b March 6, 1867 in Robinson County, North Carolina - married Mary Christine Prell.

Alexander Rufus Freeman, b April 9, 1871 at Chappell Hill, Texas, d February 14, 1948 - married January 1, 1898 to Ollie Fulton.

Samuel Freeman, b ca 1873 in Chappell Hill,
Washington County, Texas, died young.

Sarah Freeman (called "Sallie"), b October 3, 1876 in Chappell Hill, Washington County, Texas, d March 2, 1953 - was never married.
