WILLIS GARRETT DUNKUM, JR.

 

 

     Willis Garrett Dunkum, b September 2, 1924 in Marlin, Falls County, Texas-was a son of Willis Garrett and Edith Elwood (Roberts) Dunkum - and is called "Bill." On August 6,1947 in Marlin, Bill married Barbara Lea Reed, b January 19, 1926 in Marlin - a daughter of Frank Allen Reed and his second wife, Lydia Lea (Stahl) Reed.

     Bill entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 during World War II, after attending Kemper Military Institute. After training in Virginia and California, he was on duty in the Aleutian Islands.

     Bill and Barbara are the parents of four children:

     Willis Garrett Dunkum, III (called "Gary"), b April 2, 1949 in Marlin - married on March 19, 1970 to Deborah DeFord, b January 18, 1973 in Abilene, Texas - a daughter of John and Jean DeFord, and have two issue: Madeline Jean Dunkum, b December 11,1970; and Kennison Lea Dunkum, b July 8,1977. They reside in Houston, Texas, where Gary is a Real Estate Finance Officer.

     Robert Frank Dunkum (called "Bob"), b February 1, 1952 in Marlin - was last known to be residing in Taylor, Texas, and was not married.

     Mary Ann Dunkum, b June 22, 1956 in Marlin- was last known to be working for a Travel Agency in Dallas, Texas, where she also resided.

     Carol Lea Dunkum, b April 8, 1962 in Marlin, Texas - no further information.

     Bill and Barbara Dunkum continue to reside in Marlin, Texas, where Bill engages in farming and ranching enterprises, as well as other business affairs. Barbara teaches an elementary class in the Marlin Independent School District.
