FLEMING TAYLOR DE GRAFFFENRIED, M. D.

     Fleming Taylor de Graffenried, M.D., b November L 7, 1826 in Virginia, d November 15, 1869 - came to Texas with two brothers, William G. de Graffenried, M.D., b February 20, 1823 in Virginia, d September 3, L867; and Thomas Tscharner de Graffenried, M.D., b May 6, 1832 in Virginia, d August 16, 1875 in Falls County, Texas. Fleming Taylor married in Texas on Jctober 1, 1852 to Augusta G. Townsend, b 1833 in Round Top, Texas (then Mexico, State of Coahuila) - a daughter of Stephen and Sabrina (Robison) Townsend, who had settled there in 1830. Augusta's sister, Adienne Townsend, had married Fleming Taylor de }raffenried's brother, Dr. Thomas Tscharner de Graffenried; and another sister, Florida Townsend, had married Captain James C. Gaither of the Round Top Guerilla's Calvary, who later became a Texas State Legislator - representing Falls County, Texas in the 16th and 17th Legislatures, from 1879 to 1882. The townsend girls were nieces of Joel Walter Robison - an officer under General Sam Houston and a hero of the Battle of San Jacinto, who was among the men who captured General Santa Anna after the battle.

     Dr. Fleming Taylor and Augusta G. (Townsend) de Graffenried were the parents of eight children:

     Susan Sabrina de Graffenried, b November 22, 1853  d January 12,1854.

     William de Graffenried, b February 6, 1855, d September 3, 1867.

     Stephen Shelton de Graffenried, b March 29, 1857, l May 15, 1861.

     Tscharner de Graffenried, b February 23, 1859 in Colorado County. Texas. d 1927 and buried in Chilton Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - married Leila Jackson, b 1870, d 1928 and buried in Chilton Cemetery - a daughter of Byrd Jackson, early settler of Falls County, and had twelve children.

     Garland de Graffenried, b April 7, 1861, d July 24, 1906 and buried in Chilton Cemetery, Falls County, Texas - married Lee Bedell of Dewitt County, Texas, and had one son, Garland de Graffenried, b May 13, 1895, d May 2, 1956 - served as a Captain, U.S. Army, in World Wars I and II. After her first husband's death in 1906, Lee (Bedell) de Graffenried was married second to John Benjamin Landrum - son of Samuel and Mary Elizabeth (Rains) Landrum.

     Fleming Taylor de Graffenried, Jr., b June 18, 1863, d February 19, 1941 and buried in Chilton Cemetery - married Lillian Gaines and had five children.

     Katherine Jenna de Graffenried, b October 19, 1865 - married Sidney Johnson Gaines - son of William Duvall and Elizabeth (Spinks) Gaines.

     Hinda de Graffenried, b August 7, 1868 - married Charles Wesley Rush, who was president of Rush, Gardner, and Bartlett Company - a mercantile house in Marlin, Texas for many years.
