WILLIAM WIFORD CROUCH
William Wilford Crouch, b February 27, 1827 in Tennessee, d February 12, 1878 at Reagan, Falls County, Texas- was a son of Reverend-Doctor Isaac Newton and Isabelle (Deason) Crouch who married in Tennessee. William was nine year old when his father was killed by Indians at Little River in present day Milam County, and only thirteen at the time of his mother's death.
In 1843, William W. Crouch moved with his siblings to Wheelock, Robertson County, Texas, where Fort Dunn was located. In 1845, he and his half brother, Alonzo Crouch, and his brother, Isaac Newton Crouch, where Wilham and Isaac, Jr. remained the rest of their lives, It is not known what happened to the half brother, Alonzo Crouch
On April 27, 1849, William Wilford Crouch. was married to Mary Jane Covington, b December 11, 1833 In Tennessee - a daughter of John H. and Jane (Marlin) Covington, formerly of Tennessee who settled in Texas in 1845.
William farmed in the Reagan area, where he reared his family. Six of their
seven children lived to adulthood:
Sarah Jane Crouch, b October 9, 1851 in Falls County, Texas, d March 12, 1934 - married April 9, 1868 to Benjamin C. Miles, b September 25, 1845 in Jasper County.
Mary Elizabeth Crouch, b November 13, 1853 in Falls County, Texas. d July 27, 1872 - married July 29, 1869 to John Hilliard Etheridge, b 1848 in Alabama - a son of John W, Etheridge.
Louisa Emeline Crouch, b July 31, 1857 in Falls County, Texas, date of death is unknown - married December 25, 1875 to Obe Adams, No further information.
Frances Isabelle Crouch, b July 31, 1857, d March 10, 1911-married ca 1877 to Horace A. Carlton, b July 30, 1852, d April 6, 1909 and buried in Covington Cemetery near Reagan, Falls County, Texas.
William Henry Crouch, b January 27, 1867 in Falls County. Texas, d ca 1903 - married in 1902 to Elmo Barton, b January 4, 1886, d May 10, 1969 and buried in Clover Hill Cemetery at Lott, Falls County, Texas. Will and Elmo had only one daughter, Cordelia Crouch, who murried John Ramsey Taylor of Rosebud, and Marlin, Texas. After the death of William Henry Crouch, Elmo (Barton) Crouch married second to W. G. Ruble, of Lott, Texas.
John Larkin Crouch, b June 28, 1869 in Falls County, Texas - married Olive Burke - a daughter of William Zebulon and Elizabeth E. (Freeman) Burke.
Zora Ann Crouch, b July 1, 1872, d August 2, year not known.
