WILLIAM SILAS CONOLY

     William Silas Conoly, b August 2,1847 in Tennessee, d January 1, 1903 and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas - was a son of Archibald and Mary Sarah Angeline (Price) Conoly. On October 26, 1870, he married Mary Jane Keesee b July 11, 18491 d June 15, 1930 - a daughter of William Calvert and Mary Elizabeth (Bennett) Keesee, and her grandparents were Coionel Milton and Mary (Calvert) Keesee, and Henry Littleton and Jane (Logan) Bennett. The Keesee and Bennett families settled at Hog Island in Falls County, and they were of the Presbyterian faith.

     William Silas Conoly clerked for his --Brother, James Larkin Conoly, and began a farming and livestock operation on 640 acres of land that his wife had inherited from her grandfather, Henry L. Bennett's estate, and he also supervised his brother's farm.

     In 1875, William Silas Conoly was elected sheriff of Falls County - serving two and one - half years. In 1881, he was elected County Commissioner, and in 1892, he was a school trustee. He was a member of the Reagan Masonic Lodge, and he and Mary Jane belonged to the Methodist faith. They had five children:

     Ernest L. Conoly, b 1871, d 1929 – married Annie McKelvy, b 1879, d 1920.

     William Harry Conoly, b July 24,1873, d March 3, 1942 and buried in Calvary Cemetery at Marlin, Texas.

     Mary Conoly, b December 3, 1875, d December 6, 1953 - married Zenas Wilson Bartlett, b January 31, 1867, d December 18, 1942.

     Lucy L. Conoly, b December 31, 1877, d 1955- married Albert Heard Foster, b 1876, d 1916 in Marlin, Texas.

     Bessie Conoly, b August 31, 1880 - married Bradford.
