HOUSTON TURNER BIBLE William
Houston Turner and his wife Francis Elizabeth Eaves Turner are buried in the
McDade Cemetery. William's son Herman Louis Turne
my grandfather. His mother and father are listed as well on these pages Their
names are Adam Turner and Leticia Hunter Turner They are buried in
Pleasantville Cemetery in Brown County Adam's sister Sally married a Cottle and is buried in the lost Cottle
Cemetery in Cottletown. His Sister Deborah Married Ahijah Highsmith who was a ranger in the War of 1812.
Someone told me they were buried in the Cottle
Cemetery as well. His nephew Benjamin Franklin Highsmith married Adam's
daughter Elizabeth Turner, his 1st cousin. They are buried in the Jones
Cemetery in Utopia Texas. He was a messenger at the Alamo and later at San
Jacinto under William Ware and then became a Texas Ranger. Adam's Brother
Winslow Turner was one of the original 18 men at Gonzales "Come and Take
It" Winslow's son also known as Winslow died in McDade and was
reinterred in the Texas State Cemetery in the Republic Section. He was a
veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto. I am attaching pages of William
Houston's Bible and a picture of Adam Turner and Leticia Turner's new
tombstones. I am also including some letters from "Josie" whose
great grandmother was Adam Turner's sister Sally Cottle.

a photo of my Great-great grandfather Robert Aten who is buried in the Oak
Hill Cemetery there in Bastrop County. He was a Yankee Civil War veteran He
is buried by his daughter Isadora Alice Aten Owen and her husband TW Owen and
my grandparents Herman Louis Turner and Chloe Dean Owen Turner His brother
Austin Aten was a minister and sat with Sam Bass until he died. His nephew
Ira Aten became a Texas Ranger and is listed as one of the distinguished
Rangers and had the oldest known Texas Ranger Badge which is now in his
