James Stafford: born abt. 1797 in New Hampshire; died January 23,
1863 in Oswego, Kendall, Illinois
Parents:
Spouse: Roxana Mentor: born abt. 1806, in New York. Married April 22,
1827 in Chagrin, Cuyahoga Co.,(now Lake Co.) Ohio: died January 10, 1866 in
Oswego Ill.
Children: James B. Stafford (1828), Joseph Stafford (1830), Sarah C.
Stafford (1833), Henry H. Stafford (1840), Mariah (1847)
Additonal Notes: The 1820 Chagrin census shows children and a female of
about the age of a wife. Diana E. Stafford (1826), said she was the
daughter of James and Roxana. Roxana may have been the only "mother"
she knew.
James Stafford and family were in Chagrin until about 1835 when he bought
land in Holmes Township, near Bucyrus, Crawford Co. Ohio.
