E. Faye Romay

June 30, 1928 ~ May 20, 2019

E. Faye Romay of Huron, Ohio passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on May 20 at the Commons of Providence.

She was born to William Gorden and Olive Gorden on June 30, 1928 in llesboro, Ohio.

Faye was a graduate of the University of Toledo where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Library Science.

She was a selfless woman who led a great life. Faye was married for 67 years to her husband Edward J. Romay. His career took them all over the world until he retired and they settled in Huron. Faye's remarkable memory allowed her to share these experiences with her family and friends for years after. She never forgot a date or a face.

She supported and volunteered for a number of charities including the American Cancer Society, Providence Hospital, and the American Red Cross. She was also a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron where she volunteered in the school library. One of her hobbies was cooking. She had an extensive cookbook collection which facilitated her mastery of authentic Polish recipes. She was an accomplished golfer and a member of the women's league at Thunderbird Hills. She also enjoyed bowling, reading, and embroidery.

She is survived by her daughter Sandy (Bruce) Palmer of Huron, and son Bill (Tricia) Romay of Valencia, California as well as five grandchildren, Julie (Deron) VanBoxtel, Lauren (Naveen) Gopal, Todd Palmer, Conner (Jamie) O'Byrne, Caitlin (Joe) Rubacka, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Romay, her daughter Kathy Romay O'Byrne and siblings Paul Moyer, Ruby Hyde, Otto Moyer, and Opal Welch.

Funeral service will be Thursday, May 23 at 11 A.M. in the mausoleum at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Rd., Huron, with Rev. Jeffrey McBeth officiating.
