John M Falkenberg Jr.

June 5, 1943 ~ November 10, 2018

John M. Falkenberg, Jr. of Vermilion, Ohio went home to be with his Savior and Lord on November 10, 2018.

He was born on June 5, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio.

John will be dearly missed by his wife Rebecca of 53 years. John is also survived by his son Bradd and wife Cindy of Uniontown, Ohio and their three children Katy & husband Tyler Zweifel, Zachary, and Caroline and by his son Scott and wife Lisa of Wooster, Ohio and their two children Hannah and Matthew. Finally, John leaves behind his three brothers Jim and wife Anne, Rick and wife Lisa, Bob and wife Beth, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents Jack & Dot Falkenberg of Fort Myers, Florida.

After attending Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky for two years, he went onto graduate from The Ohio State University in 1965 with a degree in accounting. John was an accountant for 40 years at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Gowe Printing in Medina, and the Chapel in Akron.

He married Rebecca Smith in 1965, and they lived in Cuyahoga Falls for five years before moving to Wadsworth in 1970. It is there where they raised their two sons throughout their school years and where John spent the majority of his working years. He loved seeing the boys in their sporting events for the Grizzlies. Upon his retirement in 2005, he and wife Rebecca moved permanently to Beulah Beach after building their retirement home, having formerly had a cottage at Beulah Beach for 25 years. John enjoyed volunteering for the beach, swimming in Lake Erie, biking, and hiking. He loved the outdoors and could be found outside no matter the weather. John also loved to sing and was in a church choir most of his adult life. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching his children's and grandchildren's endeavors in running, basketball, and soccer, and of course, Ohio State football, where he was a season ticket holder for many years.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the wonderful nurses, doctors, staff, volunteers, and donors at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky, Ohio. Stein Hospice will always have a special place in their hearts, and their compassionate care for John was a great comfort to the family.

Friends may call before the Memorial Service at Beulah Beach, at 1:00pm on Friday, November 16, 2018. Following visitation with the family from 1:00-2:00pm, all of John's friends and family are invited to attend a service to celebrate his life, which will be at 2:00pm in the Center at Beulah Beach in Vermilion, Ohio.
