Nolan Travis Butcher

Nolan Travis Butcher, 92, passed away on Friday May 10, 2019 in Sandusky OH.

He was born on July 1, 1926 in Strange Creek, Braxton County, WV to Hazel and Bessie Butcher. He grew up on his family's farm with four brothers and one sister. He attended Gassaway High School. He was a U.S Navy veteran serving in both WWII and Korea. He lived in Akron, OH for many years, and worked in the construction trades. He spent his final years at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH where he enjoyed friendships and shared memories with other veterans.

He is survived by eight nieces and nephews. He is the last of his generation in their family and will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Glenn, Dennis, Orval, and Oran; one sister, Pauline Butler, and longtime companion Rosemary Flynn.

Friends may call from 10:30 AM until time of military service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 16, 2019 in the Giffin Chapel at the Ohio Veterans Home, 3416 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Paul Birmingham will officiate.

Burial will be in the Ohio Veterans Home Cemetery.
