KREYE--Wednesday rites for Elsie Kreye
    A former Columbus resident, Miss Elsie A. Kreye of Omaha, died Sunday at Genoa West Haven. She was 88.
    Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. A. H. Guettler at 2 p.m, Wednesday at Gass Funeral chapel. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 1:30 Tuesday.
    Daughter of the late Arend & Marie Wichman Kreye, she was born April 22, 1880 in Bismark township, Platte county. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. A. Fischer at Christ Lutheran church, and attended District 15 and Christ Lutheran schools.
    After leaving the farm, she worked as a seamstress in Columbus for some years, moving to Omaha in 1925.
    Surviving are one sister, Pauline Kreye of Columbus, several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by a brother, Adolph of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. August Barjenbruch of Leigh and Mrs. Ed Hollman of Columbus; also two brothers and one sister in infancy.

BARTHOLOMEW--Lloyd Bartholomew dies in Omaha; funeral Saturday
    Lloyd J. Bartholomew Sr., 3108 20th street, died unexpectedly about 3 a.m. today at the home of a niece in Omaha. He was 75.
    Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Ivan Wemhoff at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Bonaventure Catholic church, and burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery with military graveside rites by Hartman Post 84, American Legion.
    Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral chapel where the body will lie in state after 1 p.m. that day.
    A longtime employe of the Columbus Laundry, Mr. Bartholomew was head of the laundry department when he retired in 1963.
    He was born May 7, 1893 at Osceola, the son of Joheil and Caroline Lockner Bartholomew. During World War I he served as an Army medic from March 5, 1918 to Aug. 31, 1919 with overseas duty in France.
    On April 1, 1937, he married Margaret Mary Braun at Shenandoah, Ia., and they resided here most of their married life. She preceded him in death last Aug. 29.
    Mr. Bartholomew was a member of St. Bonaventure church and the American Legion.
    Surviving are two sons, Lloyd Jr., and Robert of Columbus; one daughter, Mrs. Jack (Laverna) Dittmer of Clarks; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Harry and Art of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Brandt and Mrs. Sadie Watts of Omaha. A brother, Gus of Norfolk is deceased.

BOHLMAN--Monday service for Bohlman baby; burial at Yankton
    Funeral rites for Marvin LeRoy Bohlman Jr., two-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin L. Bohlman, Rt. 4, Columbus, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Gass Funeral Home with Rev. B.F. Meschke officiating.
    The body will lie in state at Gass chapel after 9:30 a.m. Monday. Following the service the body will be transferred to Yankton, S.D., for a 2 p.m. Tuesday service at Schenk Funeral Home, with burial at Yankton.
    The baby died Thursday at St. Mary hospital where he was born Jan. 21. His parents, Marvin L. and Anna Anderson Bohlman, have lived in Columbus the last two years.
    Other survivors are a sister, Margaret; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. William Bohlman, all of Yankton.

BREZENSKI--Jake Brezenski dies Wednesday; rites Saturday
    Jacob (Jake) Brezenski, 65, died Wednesday at his home, 1622 6th street.
    Fr. Maynard Billig will officiate at funeral services, 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic church, and burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery.
    The body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
    He was born July 25, 1903, in Fullerton, the son of Anthony and Mary Shotkoski Brezenski, and was married to Anna Torczon Oct. 7, 1925, at St. Michael church at Tarnov.
    He had resided in Fullerton and Columbus. Mr. Brezenski retired from the Union Pacific on July 25, 1968, after having been employe of the railroad since 1941.
    Mr. Brezenski was a member of St. Anthony church.
    He is survived by his wife; sons, Larry of Columbus and Raymond of Denver; one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Lucille) Ziemba of Genoa; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. John (Martha) Moday and Mrs. Frank (Emma) Korus of Omaha.
    Mr. Brezenski was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Walter, Henry, Philip, Steve and Allen; and four sisters, Mrs. Jake (Louise) Herdzina, Mrs. John (Bernice) Wielgus, Mrs. John (Pearl) Zakrezewski and Mrs. Joe (Mary) Boro.

BUECHTER--John L. Buechter, 70, dies Wednesday; funeral Saturday
    John L. Buechter, 70, died unexpectedly Wednesday at his home, 669 11th avenue.
    Final rites will be held at 9:30 a.m Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic church, with Fr. Armand Lubanski officiating, and burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home, where the body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday.
    The son of Joseph and Catherine Volmert Buechter, he was born July 6, 1898, at St. Elizabeth, Mo.
    He moved to Cedar Rapids as a young man, and was married to Elizabeth Kleffner Feb. 22, 1927, at St. Anthony church in that community. They farmed near Cedar Rapids until 1950, when they moved to Columbus.
    Mr. Buechter had been employed as night clerk at Keen Korner Motel. He was a member of the Catholic church.
    Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Jim (Mary Ellen) Hutchison of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Ed (Catherine) Mahoney of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Michael (Betty) Palmaffy of Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Charles (Elaine) Orr of Newton, Ia.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
    Also surviving are three brothers, Frank and Ben Buechter of Cedar Rapids and Lambert of St. Louis, Mo., and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kleoppel of Norbourne, Mo., and Mrs. Katherine Blomberg of Eldon, Mo.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Joe, Herman, William, Henry and one in infancy; and a sister, Mary.

BAXTER--Ralph Baxter funeral Tuesday
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McKown Funeral Home chapel for Ralph R. Baxter, 70, who died unexpectedly Friday morning at his home, 3804 18th street.
    The Rev. C. William Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Wyuka cemetery in Lincoln. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Monday.
    A resident of Columbus the last 10 years, Mr. Baxter formerly resided in Lincoln. He was born Feb. 18, 1898 in Seward county, the son of H.S. and Mary States Baxter, and married Naomi Mulder in Lincoln in 1935. She preceded him in death, as did his parents and three brothers.
    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C.L. (Mildred) Mericle of Lincoln and Mrs. LeRoy (Dorothy) Foster of Clearwater, Fla.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Harold of Ririe, Ida., and one sister, Mrs. Edna Barnes of Columbus.

BRUHN--Saturday rites for Mrs. Bruhn
    Funeral services for Mrs. Claus Bruhn, 77, Monroe, were held Saturday at United Methodist church in Monroe.
    The Rev. C.R. Anderson officiated and burial was in Columbus cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Parry, Eldon Beilke, Les Smith, Walter Schmidt, Richard Korus and Ernest Harris.
    Mrs. Mary Jane Elizabeth (Mae) Bruhn died Thursday at West Haven in Genoa. She had been in failing health for some time.

BROCK--Mrs. Charles Brock dies; rites Thursday
    Mrs. Margaret K. Brock, 79, of 3611 19th street, died Monday at St. Mary hospital after a lingering illness.
    Funeral services wll be conducted by Fr. Francis Price at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Isidore church, with burial in Columbus cemetery. The body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
    She was born Oct. 30, 1889, in Columbus, the daughter of Marvin and Margaret Sullivan Elston, and was a lifetime resident of this community. She was married to Charles Brock Feb. 10, 1916.
    Mrs. Brock was a member of St. Isidore Catholic church. She was a Life Member of Highland Park PTA, and had formerly been a member of United Spanish War Veterans Auxiliary, Christian Mothers, and Friendly Neighbors.
    She is survived by seven sons, Myron of Vista, Calif., Fred of St. Charles, Ill., Bob of Columbus, Charles of Green Bay, Wis., and Tom, Bill and John of Omaha; two daughters, Mrs. Gene (Mary) Smith and Mrs. Fred (Joyce) Hasl of Omaha; 37 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Estelle Porter of Northridge, Calif. and Mrs. W.J. McKeiver of Claremont, Calif.; and one brother, Marvin Elston of Columbus.
    Mrs. Brock was the mother of one of Nebraska's best-known football families.
    Her seven sons were all Columbus athletes and most of them went on to play in college.
    Charles was a star center on the University of Nebraska football team and was later a standout with the Green Bay Packers. Tom played for Notre Dame and was later head coach at King's College in Pennsylvania before returning to Nebraska.
    Bill played for Creighton, Mike for Midland, Fred for Purdue, and John for Kansas State.
    Mrs. Brock was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Dennis Dean, who died in infancy; four grandsons and one great-grandson; two sisters, Mrs. Towne Leavy and Mrs. Della Kissell.

BORYS--Louis F. Borys, 56, dies today; rites Saturday
    Louis F. Borys, 56, of Rt. 4, Columbus, died suddenly today at his home.
    Fr. Richard Ciurej will officiate at funeral services, 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus church at Duncan. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus cemetery, with military graveside services by the American Legion.
    The body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
    Mr. Borys was born July 22, 1912, at Duncan the son of Stanley and Catherine Gembica Borys, and was educated at District 37 and St. Stanislaus schools. He farmed in the Duncan vicinity, and had also been a part-time employe at the ASCS office.
    A veteran of World War II, he entered the service Aug. 8, 1942, and was in the Army Medical Corps. He receive his discharge March 10, 1944.
    He was a member of St. Stanislaus parish and the Holy Name Society.
    Survivors include three brothers, Frank and Leo at home and Jim F. of Omaha; five sisters, Clara, at home, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Dush and Mrs. Milton (Angeline) Bray of Columbus, Mrs. Edward (Victoria) Sliva and Mrs. Leo (Agnes) Kush of Omaha; 10 nieces and seven nephews, five great-nephews and three great-nieces.
    Mr. Borys was preceded in death by his mother in 1937 and father in 1938; brothers, John in January, 1967, Casimir of Seattle, Wash., Dec. 30, 1968, and one in infancy.

KOZIOL--Koziol services held in Indiana
    Funeral services for John Koziol, former resident of the Columbus area, were held Feb 13 at Sacred Heart Catholic church in LaPorte, Ind. He died Feb. 10.
    Mr. Koziol was born Dec. 27, 1894, in Warsaw, Poland, and came to the United States as a young man. He made his home in the Lindsay and Tarnov vicinity until moving to Chicago about 45 years ago.
    He was married to the former Kate Badnash, who survives him.

JAWORSKI--Milton Jaworski dies in Omaha; funeral Saturday
    A former Tarnov resident, Milton L. Jaworski, 39, died Wednesday in the Veterans hospital in Omaha after a long illness.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Bridget Catholic church in Omaha, with burial in St. John cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Staskiewicz mortuary in Omaha.
    The son of Andrew and Della Jaworski, he was born Feb. 4, 1930 at Tarnov and spent his early life there. He attended St. Michael grade school in Tarnov and was graduated from St. Francis High school in Humphrey.
    He spent four years in the Army, 1951 to 1955, serving with the 776 CIC in Europe. In Omaha he was employed by Wilson's and was leader of a small band, the Polannaires.
    Mr. Jaworski was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Eagles and the Pulaski club.
    Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Della Jaworski of Columbus; five sisters, Mrs. Frank (Helen) Spevak of Omaha, Mrs. W.L. (Edna) Boettcher of Columbus, Mrs. E.R. (Angeline) Fagan of Council Bluffs, Mrs. R.W.(Anita) Raybould of Lincoln, Mrs. Keith (Ernestine) Baldwin of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; six brothers, Ernest of Columbus, Elmer and Allen of Omaha, Ray, Andrew Jr., and Norman of Tarnov. His father died in 1962.

BORMAN--Rudolph Borman funeral Monday
    Funeral services for Rudolph J. Borman, 82, Columbus, will be conducted by Rev. D. Lee Grace at 2 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the funeral chapel after 1 p.m. Sunday.
    Mr. Borman, a resident of Columbus the past 45 years, died unexpectedly Friday morning at the Hasselbalch Rest Home.
    Employed by the Cornhusker Public Power District from 1947 until 1965, he was a right-of-way foreman when he retired.
    He was born Jan. 16, 1887 in Black Creek, Wis., the son of August and Frieda Frenund Borman. He lived in Wisconsin and Newman Grove before coming to Columbus.
    He and Kate Stockman were married in Charles City, Ia., June 12, 1915. She preceded him in death April 21, 1955, and two sons, Edward and Rudolph, are also deceased.
    Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frances Hearman of Black Creek, Wis., and Mrs. Augusta Kaphingst of Greenville, Wis., and several nieces and newphews. One sister and one half-sister preceded him in death.

BURRUSS--Melvin E. Burruss dies in hospital; funeral Saturday
    Melvin E. Burruss, 63, of 2664 Kummer drive, died Wednesday in Behlen Memorial Hospital.
    Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the McKown Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Lowell Jones officiating. Burial will be in Columbus cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the funeral home from 1 p.m. Friday until 1:30 p.m. Saturday when the casket will be closed.
    Melvin Edwin Burruss was born Jan. 7, 1906 at Silver Creek, the son of Thomas and Susan Campain Burruss.
    He lived in the Silver Creek and Clarks vicinities until moving to Columbus in 1958. Here he was associated with the city water department, and had served as plumbing inspector for the city.
    He attended United Methodist church.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Alice Meyer, whom he married in Columbus, May 23, 1928; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Bonnie) Nyffeler of Columbus; son, Dale E. of Omaha; and four grandchildren, Carol, Mike, Lynne and Warren Nyffeler.
    Other survivors include his brother, Hubert M. of Clarks; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hinkle of Ravenna and Mrs. John Jacobi of Spalding. His parents preeded him in death.

BRAUNER--Mrs. Henry Brauner funeral Tuesday in Columbus church
    Funeral services for Mrs. Henry (Ella) Brauner, 78, will be conducted by Rev. H.M. Rathkamp at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery.
    The body lies in state at Gass Funeral chapel until noon Tuesday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m.
    Mrs. Brauner, a former Columbus resident, died Saturday morning in Fremont's Dodge County hospital following a short illness.
    Daughter of the late Herman and Bertha Lusche Muhle, she was born Nov. 20, 1890 in Colfax county, where she received her education.
    She and Henry Brauner were married Feb. 19, 1925 at St. Paul Lutheran church, Leigh. They farmed near Leigh until retiring to Columbus in 1946. After her husband's death in July, 1966, Mrs. Brauner moved to Fremont.
    In Columbus she was a member of Trinity Lutheran church, and the family suggests memorials to the Trinity memorial fund.
    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Delores) Bachmann and Mrs. Dale (Nadine) Bachmann, both of Fremont; five grandchildren, Karen, John, Debbie, Ricky and Ronnie.
    Two sisters and six brothers also survive: Mrs. Clara Arps of Fremont, Mrs. Alvina Groteluschen of Columbus; Otto, Edward and Elmer Muhle of Leigh, Alroy Muhle of Creston, Arnold and Clarence Muhle of Columbus. Deceased brothers are Ralph and Emil Muhle.

BENTZENERG--Dora Bentzenberg dies here; funeral set at Benedict
    Mrs. Dora Bentzenberg, 81, of 3904 14th street, died Sunday in Behlen Memorial hospital after an illness of seven weeks.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran church Benedict, with Rev. E. Switzer in charge. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery at Benedict.
    The body will lie in state here at McKown Funeral chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday and at the church after 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
    Daughter of the late Wilhelm and Marie Shenk Meyer, she was born March 30, 1887 near Grand Island. She was married to Frederick W. Bentzenberg on Aug. 21, 1918 in Grand Island. They lived in the Cairo and St. Michael communities before moving to a farm near Benedict in 1928.
    Preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 24, 1952, Mrs. Bentzenberg came to Columbus in 1962.
    She is survived by a daughter and son, Mrs. Raymond (Marie) McGimpsey and Levi Bentzenberg, both of Columbus; two brothers, Gustave Meyer of Grand Island, Wilhelm Meyer of Iowa; nieces and nephews. A brother, Henry Meyer is deceased, and two brothers and one sister died in infancy.
    Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran church, Benedict, of which she was a member.

JOHNSON--Victor B. Johnson dies unexpectedly; funeral Saturday
    Victor B. Johnson, 65, of 2260 Circle Drive, died unexpectedly Tuesday in Fremont. He was a carpenter for the Union Pacific railroad.
    Funeral services will be at Immanuel Lutheran church at 10 a.m. Saturday with Pastor B.F. Meschke officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
    Family prayer service is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the Johnson home. The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral chapel after 1 p.m Friday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at church.
    Victor Johnson was born Dec. 24, 1903 at Upsala, Minn., where he received his education. His parents were the late Albin and Helen Swanson Johnson.
    Except for a three-year residence in Omaha, 1942-45, he had resided here since coming from Minnesota in 1936.
    He married Ruby C. Peterson on Aug. 28, 1943 at Zion Lutheran church, Platte Center, and she survives.
    Also surviving are two sons, Dean of Columbus, Gail and wife, Barbara of West Point; three brothers, George of Minneapolis, Emil of Platte Center, Edwin of Buffalo Lake, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. Esther Gustafson of Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. George Holmen of Burtrum, Minn.
    Two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

KOBUS--Funeral services for Anna Kobus here Saturday
    Funeral services for Mrs. Frank (Anna) Kobus, 82, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic church.
    The Rev. Fr. Armand Lubanski will officiate, with burial in St. Bonaventure cemetery. The body now lies in state at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. today.
    Mrs. Kobus died Thursday at her home, 2321 8th street. She had been in failing health for some time.
    She was born July 17, 1886, in Pilzno, Poland, the daughter of Joseph and Carole Swierczek Bosak. She came to Columbus from Poland in 1907, and had since resided here.
    On Feb. 12, 1923, she was married to Frank J. Kobus at St. Anthony church in Columbus. She was member of that parish.
    Mrs. Kobus is survived by one son, Edward Kobus of Omaha; one daughter, Vera Kobus of Columbus; three grandchildren, William, Michele and Melissa Kobus of Omaha; and a sister Henrietta Dural of Poland.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, on Aug 8, 1960, her parents, brothers and sisters.

BONK--[Photo of Charles Bonk Sr.] Charles Bonk funeral rites here Thursday
    Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony Catholic church for Charles P. Bonk Sr., who would have been 73 that day.
    Mr. Bonk who resided at _711 Fourth street, died unexpectedly Monday morning at St. Mary hospital.
    The Rev. Armand Lubanski will officiate at the requiem Mass and at the graveside rites in St. Bonaventure cemetery. The body will lie in state at McKown Funeral Home chapel after 1 p.m. Wednesday. Rosary will be prayed there Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., by Knights of Columbus and at 8 p.m., by relatives and friends.
    A lifetime resident of this vicinity, Mr. Bonk was born May 1, 1896 at Duncan, the son of Frank and Agnes Eurek Bonk. He attended St. Francis academy in Columbus.
    On Jan. 24, 1923 he married Anna Kuta at St. Anthony Catholic church and they made their home in Columbus. He was employed by Consumers Public Power District for 44 years before his retirement.
    Mr. Bonk was a member of St. Anthony parish and the Knights of Columbus.
    Surviving are his wife; seven sons, Stanley (Charles Jr.) Raymond, John, Richard, Lawrence, Thomas and Joseph, all of Columbus; six daughters, Mrs. John (Delores) Wulff and Mrs. Mino (Evelyn) St. Lucas of Omaha, Mrs. Robert (Mary Ann) Krzycki and Mrs. Neil (Therese) McAndrews of Washington state, Mrs. Ralph (Marjorie) Czuba and Mrs. Robert J. (Barbara) Steiner of Columbus.
    Other survivors include 59 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Julia Wiater and Mrs. Clara Carlson, both of Omaha.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Helen and Vera; one brother, John; and one grandchild, Richard Bonk Jr.

BAXA--Matthew Baxa, 38, dies in hospital; funeral Thursday
    Matthew F. Basa, Jr., 38, 3705 14th street, died Tuesday at St. Joseph hospital in Omaha following an illness.
    Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Francis Price at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Isidore Catholic church. Burial will be in Columbus cemetery with military graveside rites.
    Friends may pay their respects this evening at Gass Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.
    He was born Jan. 27, 1931 at Belleville, Kan., the son of Matthew F. and Anna Dvorak Baxa Sr., and attended schools in Belleville.
    An Army veteran, he served from Aug. 5, 1948 to Oct. 18, 1950. He was a private first class in Battery A., 41st AAA Gun Battalion.
    In Columbus, Mr. Baxa was a track inspector for the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of the Eagles lodge.
    Formerly married to Rita Zarek of Genoa, he is survived by their four children, Norma Jean, David, Timothy and John, all of Genoa.

BALCER--Former Columbus resident dies
    Mrs. Nick Balcer, 83, former Columbus resident, died suddenly May 10 at her home in Spring Grove, Ill. She had been in failing health only briefly.
    Funeral services were held at St. Hedwig church in Chicago, Ill., with burial in St. Adelbert cemetery there.
    Nee Mary Malek, she was born Sept. 6, 1885 to Jacob and Frances Wichlacz Malek in Tarnov.
    In 1901, she was married to Joseph S. Zoucha in Tarnov. They made their home on a farm seven miles southeast of Fullerton, where Mr. Zoucha died in 1917. In October of 1919, she was married to Nick Balcer. They moved to Minnesota and then to Columbus, where they resided for several years.
    She is survived by Mr. Balcer; eight children, Mrs. Alex (Rose) Lesiak of Fullerton, Mrs. Joe (Barbara) Balcer of Perham, Minn., Tarecesia Bober, Evelyn Balcer, Frank and Clifford Balcer, and Harry Zoucha, all of Chicago, Stanley Zoucha of Antigo, Wis.; 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
    Also two sisters and two brothers, Max Malek of the state of Washington, and Stanley Malek, Mrs. Leo Jarecki and Mrs. Louis Novak, all of Fullerton.
    She was preceded in death by one daughter; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; her parents and six sisters.

BOETTCHER--Ray H. Boettcher funeral Saturday
    Ray H. (Pose) Boettcher, 65, of 2815 Ninth street, died Wednesday in St. Mary hospital. A retired businessman, Mr. Boettcher had been ill the last five months.
    Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Bonaventure Catholic church with the Rev. Regis Watts officiating, and burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral chapel where the body will lie in state after 1 p.m. that day.
    A lifetime Columbus resident, Mr. Boettcher was born here April 28, 1904 to August and Jenny Adamson Boettcher and attended Columbus schools.
    He was a mail clerk in the Army during World War II, serving from July 17, 1942 to March 12, 1943. He was discharged as T-5 at Camp Blanding, Fla.
    Mr. Boettcher was a member of the American Legion and St. Bonaventure church.
    He is survived by his wife, nee Florence Szudlo, whom he married Jan. 21, 1946; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Matlick of Klamath Falls, Ore., Mrs. Dorothy Meays of Monrovia, Calif.; nieces and nephews. Seven brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
    Memorials may be given to St. Bonaventure cemetery shrine fund.

BEEKMAN--Arnold Beekman rites Wednesday
    Arnold Wayne Beekman, 50, died Sunday following a coronary at his home in Drayton, N.D.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Drayton, with Stennes Funeral Home in charge. Burial will be in St. Edward Catholic cemetery at Drayton.
    He was born June 15, 1918, in Grand Island, the son of Jacob and Mary Beekman, and was married to Clara Wilcynski of Columbus Dec. 17, 1955, at Omaha.
    Mr. Beekman was employed by the American Crystal Sugar Company in Grand Island until 1965, when he was transferred to Drayton.
    He was a member of United Methodist church of Grand Island, and was affiliated with the Eagles Lodge there.
    Surviving are his wife; daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Delene) Miles of Evansville, Ind., and son, Gary Lee, at home; two stepsons, James C. Gaver of Kirkland, Wash., and Robert D. Gaver of Wilmette, Ill; four grandchildren; four brothers, Marvin Beekman of Kearney, Willis of Broken Bow, Robert of Grand Island and Merl of Leadville, Colo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Orlando (Ruby) James of Lincoln and Mrs. Pat (Alice) James of Wolbach.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

KOLM--Funeral services set Thursday for Otto J. Kolm, 73
    Last rites for Otto J. Kolm, 73, will be conducted at 2 p.m Thursday at Trinity Lutheran church.
    The Rev. H.M. Rathkamp will officiate, with burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. The body is to lie in state from 1 p.m. Wednesday to noon Thursday at McKown Funeral Home, then at the church from 1 p.m. Thursday to the time of service.
    Mr. Kolm, of 2859 Fairlane avenue, died Sunday evening at St. Luke hospital in Denver, Colo.
    He was born March 10, 1896, at Creston, the son of John and Alberta Halleg Kolm, and was married to Anna R. Hansen March 23, 1920, at Columbus.
    Mr. Kolm, who had been retired since Christmas was affiliated with Trinity Lutheran church and was a member of Hartman Post No. 84, American Legion.
    He was a veteran of World War I, serving from Oct. 2, 1917, to May 5, 1919, with Company B of the 137th Infantry. He saw duty overseas.
    Survivors include his wife; children, Gerald D. Kolm of Fremont and Shirley Jean Kolm of Aurora, Colo.; two grandsons, Paul, serving in Vietnam, and David of Lincoln.
    Others surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Blaine (Minnie) Dickey and Mrs. Claude (Lillian) Green of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Lena Illian of Columbus; and three brothers, Herman Kolm of Cedar Rapids, Joe of Columbus and Ben of Colorado Springs, Colo.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and five brothers.
    The family suggests that memorials be directed to Trinity Lutheran church memorial fund.

BOCK--George Bock, 73, dies in Tacoma
    George Bock, 73, of 6047 S. Junett, Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Columbus, died Wednesday at Doctors hospital after an illness of four weeks.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mountain View church in Tacoma, with burial in Mountain View cemetery. Mountain View Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Bock and his wife, nee Ella Gesch, resided here for some time. H e is survived by his wife, six children and 17 grandchildren.

KOSIBA--Columbus man found dead at Loup Park
    Raymond L. Kosiba, 38, of 1915 6th street was found dead Wednesday evening at Loup Park, north of Columbus.
    County Attorney Robert Snell said that a .22 pistol was found near the body at about 6:30 p.m. It was estimated that he had been dead about an hour.
    Snell said that he has no evidence at this time indicating other than the gunshot wound to his head was self-inflicted.
    Kosiba was an accountant for R.W. Beck and Associates of Columbus.
    His body was found a short distance from his car at a small park just east of the Mason Road.
    Funeral services for Mr. Kosiba will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic church with Fr. Armand Lubanski officiating. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus cemetery, Duncan.
    The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home and Rosary will be prayed there at 8 p.m.
    The son of Frank and Anna Mostek Kosiba, he was born July 7, 1930 at Duncan and received his education at St. Joseph Seminary, Westmont, Ill.
    On June 1, 1953 he married Victoria Guszak at Grant and since that time resided in Columbus where he was an accountant with R.W. Beck and Associates. He served in the Air Force and was a past member of Holy Name and Third Order.
    Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gail, 11, and Laurie, seven; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kosiba, Columbus; one brother, Brother Mark (Lawrence) Kosiba, O.S.B., Conception, Mo.; six sisters, Mrs. Marlin (Mary) Kumpf, Shelby, Mrs. Harold (Angeline) Brewer, Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Orville (Theresa) Ahreans [sic], Mrs. Earl (Genevieve) Kuta, Mrs. Lawrence (Phyllis) Kush, and Mrs. Gary (Diana) Keeshan, Columbus.

JONES--William Jones Rites Conducted Saturday at Gass Chapel
    Funeral services for William B. Jones, 87, were conducted by Dr. Lowell B. Jones at 2 p.m. Saturday at Gass Funeral chapel.
    Burial was in Columbus cemetery, with Keith Penfield, Roy Nauenburg, Charles Simms, Julian Meyer, Carl Hoge, and Lee Krueger serving as pallbearers. Out-of-town relatives and friends were from San Antonio, Tex., Chapman, Albion and St. Edward.
    Mrs. [sic] Jones of 3215 16th Street, died Thursday at Behlen Memorial hospital.
    Member of a pioneer Nebraska family, he was born April 24, 1882, the son of Barclay and Rebecca Jones. He was born on an old Indian reservation at Niobrara, where his father was a government miller. Soon after, his father was transferred to Genoa and Mr. Jones spent his boyhood there.
    In October, 1901, Mr. Jones began a half-century of service with the Union Pacific Railroad, starting as a callboy in Columbus. He became a fireman in December, 1902, an engineer in April, 1906, spending 46 years in that capacity.
    From 1906 to 1908 he lived in Council Bluffs and operated runs out of Omaha. He returned to Genoa, where he was on the Genoa-Albion run, and February, 1911, was transferred to Columbus and continued to serve the Union Pacific until retiring April 23, 1952. While here, Mr. Jones served on all branch and mainline locals out of Columbus, and his last position was engineer on the (then) new diesel switcher here.
    Mr. Jones was married to Blanche Willard in Council Bluffs, Ia., on Oct. 20, 1905.
    He was member of Lebanon Lodge No. 323, A.F.& A.M. Harmony Chapter No. 13, Order of Eastern Star, and Union Pacific Oldtimers Club.
    Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn J. (Patricia) Krueger of San Antonio, Tex.; and three grandchildren, Jean, Jerry and Janet.
    Mr. Jones was the last of his family.

BAUMAN--Former resident dies in Neligh
    Funeral services for Frank Bauman of Neligh, formerly of Columbus, were held Sept. 16 at Hoepfinger's Home for Funerals in Neligh. The Rev. Paul Mathes of Central Ciy officiated and burial was in Laurel Hill cemetery.
    Mr. Bauman, 87, who was formerly employed in the old Columbus light plant, died Sept. 14 at Antelope Memorial hospital in Neligh.
    He was born Jan. 22, 1882, in Columbus, the son of William and Bertha Bauman. He went to Neligh in 1910 to work as chief electrician for the S.F. Gillman Mills. On Sept. 6, 1916, he was married to Alice Rainbow of Pierce and they resided in Neligh.
    Mr. Bauman later worked as an engineer for the Interstate Power Company until 1931, when he accepted the post as city water commissioner. He held that position until 1949, when he resigned and entered private business in the electric motor repair field. He retired in 1966.
    He was a life member of the Neligh Volunteer Fire Department.
    Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. William Donnelly of Hooper; two sons, James of Neligh and Frank Jr. of Glenrock, Wyo.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Ford of Omaha.

BRANDT--Mrs. W. F. Brandt dies; rites Monday
    Mrs. William F. (Edna Mae) Brandt Sr., 1219 Fourth street, died Friday in St. Mary hospital after an illness of six months. She was 66.
    Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran church, with Pastor A.H. Guettler officiating, and burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at McKown Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Sunday. A family prayer service will be held there at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
    Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kurz, she was born at Lead, S.D., and married William F. Brandt, Sept. 4, 1921 at Scribner where they resided until moving to Columbus.
    She was a Lutheran.
    Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Alex (Darlene) Peron of Baltimore, Md., Arlene Geiser and Mrs. Frank (LaVera) Geiser of Beaumont, Calif.; seven sons, Arlen of Topeka, Kan., Alvern of Denver, William Jr., Darwin and Burdette of Columbus, Edward of Wood River and Donald of Beaumont, Calif.
    Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Dean (Hilda) Ritchie of Los Angeles, Mrs. Harold (Augusta) Steil of Scribner, Mrs. Myrtle Lumme of Bridgeport; two brothers, Henry and Walter Kurz of Decatur, Ala.; 24 grandchildren.
    Five sons and a sister are deceased.

    Pastor A. H. Guettler will conduct a 1:30 p.m. prayer service at Gass Funeral chapel and a 2 p.m. service at Immanuel Lutheran church. Burial will be in Columbus cemetery. The body lies in state at the funeral home.
    Mrs. Krumland was born May 11, 1885, at Blair the daughter of Henry and Anna Kuhl Schutt. Coming to Platte county as a child, she attended District 4 school and was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran church by Rev. Herman Miessler in 1900. He also officiated at her wedding to William Krumland, June 12, 1907 at Immanuel church.
    Surviving are two sons, Erwin of Columbus and Elmer of Omaha; three grandchildren, Mrs. Adrian (JoAnn) Texley of Albion, William Krumland of Omaha, John Krumland of Columbus; and six great-grandchildren.

    Monday rites are scheduled for Mrs. William (Clara) Engel, 3017 21st street, who died Thursday morning in Morys Haven.
    Mrs. Engel, 93, was a lifetime resident of Colfax and Platte counties.
    The Rev. L. E. Mortensen will officiate at a 1:15 p.m. service at Gass Funeral Home and 2 p.m. rites at St. John Lutheran church, Shell Creek. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Sunday.
    Daughter of pioneer Nebraskans, Mr. and Mrs. John Rickert Sr., she was born Dec. 18, 1875 at the family home in Colfax county's Bissell community. She attended rural school, and was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran church, Shell Creek, of which she was a lifetime member. She was a former member of Ladies Aid.
    On Nov. 30, 1893 she was married to William C. Engel at St. John Church, with Rev. G. F. Mueller officiating. They were married 67 years before he died in 1960.
    Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Otto C. (Katherine) Mueller of Columbus; six grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Moore of Columbus.
    A son, Siebert, and two grandchildren are deceased. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, John and Carl Rickert; four sisters, Mrs. Herman (Martha) Went, Mrs. Kate Lips, Mrs. William (Bertha) Koch and Mrs. Adolph (Anna) Korte.

BRANDT; BRANDT--Double funeral services Thursday for plane victims
    Double funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran church for Norman H. Brandt, 43, and his son, James L. Brandt, 24, who were killed Sunday in a plane crash northeast of Columbus.
    James, who resided in Lincoln, was piloting the light plane which crashed into a field on the Edwin Loseke farm. His father resided on Rt. 2, Columbus.
    The Rev. B.F. Meschke will officiate at the funeral rites. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery with military honors for James, a Vietnam veteran.
    Friends may pay their respects at Gass Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Wednesday.
    Norman Henry Brandt, son of the late Carl L.C. and Anna Margaretha (Lammers) Brandt, was born Nov. 20, 1925 at Monroe. He attended District 32 school and was graduated from Monroe High.
    He married Dorothy Ann Borchers and they lived north of Monroe until 1959, when they moved to a farm northeast of Columbus.
    In addition to farming, Mr. Brandt was employed by Behlen Manufacturing company and had a commercial pilot's license. He was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol.
    A voting member of Immanuel Lutheran congregation, he was serving on the stewardship committee.
    Surviving are his widow; three children, Lavern, serving in the Air Force at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Miss., Kathleen and Eugene, at home; one brother, Raymond of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Fred (Marcella) Kaufmann of St. Edward. An infant brother preceded him in death.
    James Brandt, born Aug. 11, 1945 at Monroe, attended District 32 school and was graduated from Columbus High.
    He served in the Air Force from October, 1965 to February, 1969, including 11 months in Vietnam. He attained the rank of sergeant.
    At the time of his death he was employed by Hy-Gain Electronics in Lincoln and was attending Duncan Aviation school. He had a private pilot's license.
    James was affiliated with veterans organizations in Lincoln and was a member of Immanuel church in Columbus.
    Survivors, in addition to his mother, brother and sisters, are his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Borchers of Monroe.

BRANDT; BRANDT--Double rites held for plane victims
    Double funeral services were held Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran church for Norman H. Brandt, 43, and his son, James L. Brandt, 24, victims of a light plane crash.

BUEHLER--Thursday services for Hans Buehler
    Thursday funeral services are scheduled for Hans Buehler, 83, Monroe, who died unexpectedly Tuesday at Behlen Memorial Hospital.
    The Rev. Russell Mertz will officiate at 10 a.m. at Gass Funeral Chapel, where the body lies in state. Burial will be in the Gruetli Cemetery.
    Mr. Buehler, a farmer, came to Nebraska in 1924 from Switzerland where he was born Sept. 4, 1885 at Bannwil, Canton Bern. His paretns [sic] were the late Jacob and Louisa Ehrsam Buehler.
    He was educated in his homeland and served in the Swiss Army. On Easter Sunday, 1923 he married Elisa Stucky at Bannwill.
    His wife preceded him in death, as did his sister, Mrs. Arnold (Anna) Lemp of Columbus; one sister and three brothers in Switzerland.
    Surviving are one brother and one sister in Switzerland; many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Fred (Louisa) Friess of Rt. 4, Columbus.

BENKE; TOPIL--Funeral rites set Friday for wreck victims
    Funeral arrangements have been announced for Reinhart B. Benke of Columbus and Joseph I. Topil of Rising City, victims of a Tuesday morning traffic accident a mile north of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
    Services for Mr. Benke, 57, of 571 22nd Avenue, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russell Mertz officiating, and burial will be in Columbus Cemetery. The body is to lie in state at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday.
    He was born Dec. 28, 1912, at Elkhorn, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Benke, and was educated there.
    Mr. Benke was married to Alene Lewis June 14, 1944, at Bellville, Kan., and they resided in Columbus. He was employed as a truck driver for Columbus Grain Company.
    He was a member of the Lutheran Church, and had served in the Army in 1942.
    Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Ada May Benke; seven stepchildren, LeRoy Kelsey of Grand Island, William Kelsey, Mrs. Myrle (Pauline) Hadcock and Mrs. Don (Dorothy) Bernt of Columbus, Mrs. Bill (Maxine) Kretschmer of Burlington, Wis., and Mrs. Jim (Sally) Reynolds of Little Rock, Ark.; and 32 grandchildren.
    Also surviving are three brothers, Fred Benke of Bradyville, Iowa, Otto of Fremont and Henry of Doniphan, Mo., and one sister, Mrs. Fernet Peterson of Elkhorn.
    Mr. Benke was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
    Final rites for Mr. Topil, 68, will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Shelby.
    Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bellwood. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday at Holesovsky Mortuary, Brainard.
    Mr. Topil, who was born Feb. 22, 1901, in Butler county, farmed and worked for a David City moving company.
    He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank (Martha) Makovicka of Bellwood; four sons, Richard, Tom, Joseph Jr., and Steve, all of the Rising City area; five grandchildren; and four brothers, Anton, Leo and Fred of Rising City, and Alois of Denver, Colo.
    His wife, the former Ludmilla Zavodny, died in 1962.

BENKE--Benke Rites - Funeral services for Reinhart P. Benke, 57, were held Friday at McKown Funeral Home with the Rev. Russell Mertz officiating. Burial was in Columbus Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Micek, Clem Ciboron, Edward J. Dolesh, Harold Oppliger, Donald Fendrick, and Calvin Kucera. Military graveside rites were rendered by the Honor Guard of Hartman Post 84, American Legion. Sergeant was Keith Bryan. Members of the color guard were Roy Bargman, Lewis M. Johnnson [sic] and Paul Pfeifer. Members of the escort were Walt Kopetzky, Gene Neater, Paul Abegglen and Don Willman. Relatives and friends attended from Grand Island, Burlington, Wis, Bradyville, Iowa, Fremont, Elkhorn, Duncan, Tarnov, Columbus, Council Bluffs, Cedar Bluffs and Storm Lake, Iowa, Beatrice, Aurora, Leigh, Richland, Shelby, Osceola, Bellwood, Rising City, David City, Silver Creek, Platte Center, Omaha, Monroe, Humphrey and St. Edward. Omitted from the obituary was another surviving sister, Mrs. Minnie Klabunde, Fresno, Calif.

JARRELL--Graveside service held for infant
    Graveside services were held at 4:30 p.m. Friday for Jennifer Joyce Jarrell, the stillborn daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jarrell, 3819 15th Street.
    The child was born Nov. 25 at Behlen Memorial Hospital.
    Burial was conducted by Pastor H.M. Rathkamp at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.
    Survivors include her parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Drawbaugh of Columbus; Jesse Jarrell of Oakland, Calif.; and Mrs. Joyce Lewis of Topeka, Kan.; great grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hook of Columbus, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Drawbaugh of Sacramento, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Canady of Emeryville, Calif. Mrs. Jarrell is the former Jennifer Drawbaugh.

BRUNKEN--Elmer Brunken, 61, dies in hospital; funeral Saturday
    Elmer Brunken, 61, of 3310 Brunken Street, died Wednesday in Behlen Memorial Hospital.
    Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Highland Park Evangelical Free Church with Rev. C.W. Shaffer in charge. Burial will be in Columbus Cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Friday until noon Saturday, then at church from 1 to 2 p.m.
    Mr. Brunken, a farmer, was a lifetime resident of Platte County. Son of the late John and Mary Brunken, he was born Feb. 10, 1908 and attended District 36 School.
    On April 3, 1947 at Fremont he married LaVerna Lange, who survives.
    Four brothers and five sisters also survive: Clarence and Mrs. Alice Holtkamp of Columbus; Milton of Clarks; Mrs. Joe (Lilly) Benes of Creston; Mrs. Victor (Gladys) Specialle of Chicago; Mrs. Ray (Mary) McIntosh of Milwaukee, Ore.; Johnny, Wilbur and Mrs. Pearl Searcy of Redwood City, Calif. Two brothers preceded him in death.
    The family suggests memorials to missions.

BADSTIEBER--J. Badstieber Sr. dies today; funeral services Tuesday
    Joseph Badstieber Sr., 89, who formerly resided a 2009 12th Street, died this morning in Morys Haven. He had been ill the past year.
    Funeral services are set for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church with Rev. Regis Watts officiating, and burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
    Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Monday at McKown Funeral Home where the body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Monday.
    Born in Germany on Feb. 14, 1880, Mr. Badstieber marrid Wilhelmina Parsch in Austria in 1910 and they came to Columbus to make their home. He was a farmer and later was sexton of the Columbus Cemetery. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church.
    His wife died in 1966. Also preceding him in death were a son, Albert; his parents, brothers and sisters.
    Survivors include one son, Joseph Jr., Columbus; four grandchildren, Mrs. R.L. (Joan) Phillips of Omaha, Mrs. Tom (Patricia) Lakers of Chicago, Joseph 3rd of Columbus and Judy Badstieber of Kansas City; and six great-grandchildren.

JOHNSON--Marie Johnson rite will be Thursday
    Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis M. (Marie E.) Johnson, 71, who died unexpectedly Monday night in Behlen Memorial Hospital, will be Thursday in First United Methodist Church, Columbus. Dr. L. Jones will preside, with burial in Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove.
    The body will lie in state at McKown Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Wednesday until 11:30 a.m. Thursday, and at the Church after 12:30 p.m. until the 1:30 p.m. service time.
    She was born Nov. 23, 1898, in Newman Grove, daughter of Charles and Agusta Nelson. She attended school in Newman Grove and also York Business College.
    She was married to Lewis M. Johnson Oct. 19, 1923, in Newman Grove, and in 1931 they moved to Columbus. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
    Survivors are her husband; a son Loren F. of Idaho Falls, Idaho; daughter, Lois M. Thomason of Cozad; sisters Hannah (Mrs. Ed) Cederlind of Newman Grove, Lillian (Mrs. Dave) Cederlind of Turlock, Calif., Ruth (Mrs. Jay) Evenson Dave Nelson of Elkhorn and Carl Nelson of Wynot; five grandchildren; and two great grandsons.
    She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Fred Nelson.

BRANDENBURGH--Brandenburgh rites scheduled Thursday
    Funeral rites are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bellwood Methodist Church for Mrs. Alice Brandenburgh, 96, who died Monday at Columbus Manor.
    The Rev. Carroll Prouty will officiate, with burial in Bellwood Cemetery. The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral home from 2 p.m. Wednesday until time of the funeral, and prayer service will be held there at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
    Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Wright, she was born July 9, 1873 at Golden City, Mo., where she attended public school.
    She was married to William Brandenburgh on May 22, 1892 at Golden City and they came to this area in a covered wagon the following year. She had since lived in the Bellwood and Columbus vicinity. She was a member of the Bellwood Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge.
    Surviving are two sons, William A. of Columbus and Lemuel of Bellwood; three daughters, Mrs. Versa Wicker of Denver, Mrs. Vern Fox of Columbus and Mrs. Paul (Eva) Neal of Cypress, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Macy of Miami City, Okla.; one brother, Jesse Wright of Golden City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Ora; two brothers, John and Jim Wright; two sisters, Julia Miller and Florence Garbers.

Lowell Jones officiated and burial was in the Hope Cemetery at Newman Grove. Pallbearers were Charles Athey, Merwin Boyd, Wilbur Johnson, Henry Graus, J.P. Young, Clarence Siems.
