KULA--Kula services to be Tuesday
    Funeal services for Mrs. Joseph (Anna) Kula, 87, St. Edward, who died Saturday morning at St. Mary's hospital after being ill several months, will be held at 10 a.m Tuesday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Krakow.
    Rev. Stefan Flisiak will officiate, and burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body lies in state at Fleming-McKown Funeral Home, Silver Creek, where rosary was to be prayed at 3 p.m. today by the Altar Society and 7:30 p.m. by the parish.
    She was born March 10, 1878, in Polk county, the daughter of Blase and Katherine Kogie Boruch, and attended Polk county schools. On April 28, 1902, she was married to Joseph Kula at St. Mary's church, Pilsno.
    Mrs. Kula resided on a farm near Genoa until two years ago, when she made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zurovski, St. Edward.
    She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul parish and the Rosary Altar Society.
    Surviving are one son, Blazac, St. Edward; four daughters, Mrs. Frank (Advena) Morris of Fullerton, Mrs. John (Laura) Gdowski of Monroe, Mrs. Leo (Marie) Stach of Monroe, and Mrs. Edward (Delores) Zurovski of St. Edward and seven grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, on Jan. 13, 1956; two sons, Thomas and Edward; her parents, four sisters and three brothers.

JOSTES--Final rites for Raymond J. Jostes
    Funeral services for Raymond J. Jostes, 62, Platte Center resident who died Monday at St. Mary's hospital after a three week illness, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Platte Center.
    The Rev. John P. Downey will officiate, with burial in St. Patrick's cemetery. The body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
    He was born Feb 7, 1903, in Madison county, the son of John and Katie McPhillips Jostes, and was educated at Platte Center.
    Mr. Jostes was married to Agnes Heeg Sept. 26, 1928, at Sidney, and they had since resided at Platte Center. Mr. Jostes was a farmer.
    A member of St. Joseph's church, Mr. Jostes was affiliated with the Holy Name Society.
    Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Delmar (Marilyn) Veik and Mrs. Arlyn (Rita) Borcher of Platte Center; three grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alvera Schrant of Kingsboro, Colo., and one brother, Leonard Jostes of Madison.
    His parents preceded him in death.

KOZA--Funeral services set Thursday for Anna Koza, 87
    Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Koza, 87, of rural Fullerton, who died suddenly Monday at the home of a son, Charles, will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Stanislaus Catholic church, Duncan.
    Fr. Richard Ciurej will officiate, and burial will be in St. Stanislaus cemetery. The body will lie in state after 5 p.m. today at Fleming-McKown Funeral Home, Silver Creek, where rosary will be prayed tonight at 7:30 p.m. by St. Ann's Society and at 8 p.m. by family and friends.
    The daughter of Anthony and Sophia Czapla Worzel, whe [sic] was born May 5, 1878, in Pilsno, Poland. She was married to George Koza in Poland.
    Mrs. Koza had resided in Duncan, and Fullerton the last two and half years.
    She was a member of St. Ann's Society.
    Surviving are six sons, Joseph Jr. and Henry of Silver Creek, Ben of Duncan, Charles of Fullerton, Edward of Lexington and Adolph of Sacramento, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. James (Tillie) Stanczyk of Silver Creek, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Barnes of Long Beach, Calif., and Mrs. Ed (Elsie) Slattery of Grand Island; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    She was prcided [sic] in death by her husband, in May of 1948; a son three months old; parents, brother and sister.

BROOKSHIRE--Former Columbus resident dies
    Services for Mrs. Lee Brookshire, former Columbus resident, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Los Angeles.
    Mrs. Brookshire died Tuesday at Los Angeles. Forest Lawn Cemetery is in charge of arrangements.

KRUEGER--Graveside services conducted Monday for Miss Krueger
    Graveside services for Miss Clara Emilie Krueger, 78, formerly of Columbus, were conducted by the Rev. Hugo Rathkamp at 11 a.m. Monday in Columbus cemetery.
    A funeral service was held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday in Sac City, Ia., where she died last Friday. She had been ill about a month.
    Daughter of the late Julius and Elizabeth Krueger, she was born Nov. 16, 1887 at Humphrey. She had been a nurse and was a member of the Lutheran faith.
    Surviving are her sister, Mrs. Matilda Stovick of Bellevue; four nieces, Mrs. W. C. Becher of Hastings, Mrs. E. T. Jurgensen of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. L. W. Bender and Mrs. Joseph Palchich of Bellevue; four nephews, Floyd C. Krueger of Niles, Mich., Glenn J. Krueger of San Antonio, Tex., William C. Krueger of Columbus and Lee Donald Krueger of Niles, Mich.
    Her brother, F. W. Krueger of Columbus, and one sister preceded her in death.
    Gass Funeral Home handled the local arrangements.

KOPETZKY--Mark Kopetzky dies Monday, rites Wednesday
    Mark Todd Kopetzky, 7-week-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Kopetzky, 954 28th avenue, died Monday evening in St. Mary's hospital.
    Graveside services will be conducted by the Rev. Elstan Coghill at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Bonaventure cemetery. The body will lie in state at the McKown Funeral Home after 7:30 p.m. today.
    Mark was born Nov. 27, 1965 in Columbus. His mother was formerly Carolyn Gue.
    Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Melanie Marie, age 2 1/2; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Kopetzky, Shelby, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Gue, David City; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Seidel, Columbus.
    The family suggests that memorials be given to St. Mary's hospital

KEELER--Services for Fred Keeler on Friday
    Funeral services for Fred Keeler, 85, Monroe who died unexpectedly Sunday at the home of a daughter in Oregon, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at McKown Funeral chapel in Columbus.
    The Rev. Harold Vander Ploeg will officiate, with burial in Okay cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Thursday.
    He was born Feb. 17, 1880, at Monroe, the son of John and Mary Bacon Keeler, and attended Wattsville school and School District 20.
    Mr. Keeler was married to Josephine Rudman May 24, 1905, at Monroe.
    A retired farmer, he spent his entire life on the farm which his parents had originally homesteaded. Mr. Keeler served on the school board for 20 years, and also on the Okay cemetery board.
    Surviving are three sons, Charles Keeler of Rio Dell, Calif., Harold of Monroe and Arno of Columbus; five daughters, Mrs. Ira (Helen) Kerr of Omaha, Mrs. Lena Jackson of Lincoln, Mrs. Al (Mary) Sparks of St. Helens, Ore., Mrs. E. M. (Rose) Carlson of St. Edward, Mrs. Walter (Violet) Bruhn of Platte Center, 34 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Hattie Nelson, Albion.
    Mr. Keeler was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Milo, and one daughter, Alice; and two sisters, Mrs. Edith Johnson and Nellie Overturf.

JOHANNES--Dr. A. W. Johannes dies at Schuyler; rites Monday
    SCHUYLER--Dr. Allen William Johannes, 66, prominent Schuyler dentist, died of a heart attack Thursday evening.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Richard Hovis officiating, and burial will be in Schuyler cemetery. The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Saturday at Svoboda Funeral Home.
    He was born June 16, 1899, at Abie, the son of William and Anna Marushak Johannes. He was graduated from David City high school, and from the University of Nebraska in 1924.
    He was married to Ann Rezac Sept. 20, 1924, at Council Bluffs, Ia., and they came to Schuyler to reside.
    Active in Masonic affairs, Dr. Johannes was affiliated with Acacia Lodge of Schuyler, Omaha Shriners and Tangler Temple of Omaha. He was also a member of Pierrie-Faucherd Academy of Fremont.
    Dr. Johannes was a member of the Elks Lodge of Columbus, and was affiliated with the Nebraska Dental Association and American Dental Association.
    He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Lorraine) Tooley of Lincoln; four grandchildren; one brother Arnold Johannes of Reno, Nev., and one sister, Mrs. Jerry (Elsie) Krejci of Schuyler.
    Pallbearers will be Herman Mejstrik, Elmer J. Svec, George McKenzie, Gerald A. Krejci, Joe Vavra and Russell D. Salak.

BURRIS--Humphrey's oldest resident, Mrs. Burriss [sic], dies at age 102
    HUMPHREY--Humphrey's oldest resident, Mrs. Josephine (Nellie) Burriss [sic], died this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Talmah Kosch, after a short illness. She was 102.
    Funeral services will be held at the Baptist church with the Rev. D. Lee Grace officiating, and burial will be in the Humphrey cemetery. Complete arrangements will be announced later by Duesman Funeral Home.
    Daughter of the late Julius John and Helen Barta Groves, she was born at Mendota, Ill., on May 19, 1863. In 1876 she came with her family to Platte county in a covered wagon, settling on a homestead three miles southeast of here.
    Her husband, William, died Dec. 6, 1943. She is survived by six children, Enos, Ira and Talmah, all of Humphrey; Mrs. Inus Echols, Ocala, Fla.; Mrs. Elizabeth Olson and Mrs. Pearlah Hook, Columbus.
    Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Celia Boggs, Portland, Ore.,; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
    One of a family of 13 children, she was preceded in death by her brothers, George, Jay, Nathan, Julius, Jr., Arthur, Willie, Robert, John, and sisters, Martha, Grace and Sarah.

KUENZLI--Fred Kuenzli, 98, of Duncan dies; services Wednesday
    Fred Kuenzli, 98, of Duncan, one of Platte county's oldest residents, died Sunday evening at St. Mary's hospital.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Gass Funeral Home and at 2 p.m. at First Methodist church. The Rev. Lowell Jones will officiate, with burial in Duncan cemetery. The body is to lie in state at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
    Mr. Kuenzli, a retired farmer, was born Feb. 4, 1868, in Aarwangen, Switzerland, the son of Franz and Marie Saggetzer Kuenzli, and came to the United States in 1879. He was educated in Switzerland and Duncan rural schools.
    He was married to Ellen Persson Nov. 11, 1908, at Central City, and they had since resided in the Duncan area.
    Mr. Kuenzli was affiliated with the Methodist church. He served on the school board of District 55, Polk county.
    Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Mildred) Dornburgh of Polk, Mrs. Donnell (Ethel) Timperley of Omaha, Mrs. George (Gladys) Tiaden and Mrs. Arlo (Eileen)

    Ewert of Columbus; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one brother, Frank of Columbus; and two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Hagel of Laramie, Wyo., and Rose Kuenzli of Genoa.
    He was preceded in death by seven sisters.

    HUMPHREY--Funeral services were held Monday afternoon for Mrs. Josephine (Nellie) Burris, 102, longtime resident of this community.
    The Rev. D. Lee Grace, Columbus, officiated at 2 o'clock in the First Baptist church. Burial was in the Humphrey cemetery and pallbearers were Elmer Graves, Clifford Graves, Clarence Binder, Charles B. Hook, Bert O. Feik and Ernest Koch.
    Mrs. Burris died Friday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Talmah Kosch.
    Daughter of the late Juliua J. and Helen Graves, she was born in Illinois and came to Platte county in 1876. Her husband, William, died in 1943. Among the survivors are six children and one sister.

BOCK--Frank Bock dies; funeral services Friday
    Frank Bock, Sr., Bellwood, died Tuesday night at David City hospital. He was 81.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gass Funeral Home, with the Rev. Lowell Jones officiating, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery. The body is to lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday.
    He was born April 17, 1884, in Butler county near Bellwood, and spent his entire life in and around Bellwood.
    The son of Vincent and Mary Lockner Bock, he attended Butler county schools. He was married to Anna Seidel on Feb. 19, 1908.
    A retired farmer, Mr. Bock was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge at Bellwood. He was secretary at the time of his death, an office he had held more than 35 years.
    Surviving are his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Paul (Elsie) Kruse of David City, Mrs. Harry (Anna) Conrad of Logan, Ia., Mrs. Fred (Irene) Brase of Bellwood, Mrs. Ben (Velma) Hopkins of Omaha, and Mrs. Walter (Margaret) Pieters of Seward; three sons, Frank V. and Harold B. of Bellwood, and Roy A. of Columbus.
    Other survivors include 34 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, George of Tacoma, Wash., and one sister, Mrs. Carrie Drawbridge of North Loup.
    He was preceded in death by one son, Leo, of Omaha; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; four brothers, Lawrence and Adam of Bellwood, Anton of California and Vincent of York; and four sisters, Mrs. Mae West of Denver, Mrs. Josephine Beierle of David City, Mrs. Rose Jacobs of Columbus and Mrs. Francis Cady of Bellwood.

KEMNITZ--Mrs. Francis Kemnitz dies; funeral services Monday
    Mrs. Francis (Genevieve) Kemnitz, 66, of 1702 20th street, died Thursday at St. Mary's hospital.
    Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Elstan Coghill, O.F.M., at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure cemetery. The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday at McKown Funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday by parish, friends and St. Anne's Society.
    The daughter of John and Mary O'Keefe Regan, she was born March 26, 1899, at Platte Center. She graduated from St. Joseph's school, Platte Center, and attended Kearney State College.
    She was married to Francis Kemnitz June 2, 1920, at St. Joseph's church, Platte Center, and had since resided in Platte Center and Columbus. Mrs. Kemnitz taught rural school in Platte county for three years.
    A Member of St. Bonaventure parish, she was affiliated with St. Anne's Society and Franciscan Missionary Union.
    Mrs. Kemnitz is survived by one son, Richard of Columbus, two daughters, Mrs. William (Betty Mae) Brock of Omaha and Mrs. Albert (Emogene) Wunderlich of Columbus; and 16 grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, on Dec. 8, 1965; two infant daughters; parents, four brothers, Dick, Joe, Luke and Mark; and four sisters, Mrs. John (Ann) Sheridan, Mrs. Ed (Nell) Lusienski, Mrs. John (Margaret) Lueke and Marie Regan.

BALD--Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Bald
    Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth A. Bald, 78, who died Monday in El Cajon, Cal., were conducted by the Rev. D. Lee Grace at 10:30 a.m. today at Gass Funeral Home.
    Burial was in Roselawn cemetery and pallbearers were Al Jenny, Nick Kamm, Wallace Tessendorf, Herman Mindrup, Darrell Kingston and Dr. O. E. Walgren.
    Mrs. Bald, widow of Dr. Arno A. Bald, former Platte Center physician, had lived in California the last 15 years.
    She was born Nov. 27, 1887 at Waverly, Neb., the daughter of Horace and Mila Peoples Newton. She attended Aurora high school and the University of Nebraska, and was married to Dr. Bald June 12, 1913 at Aurora.
    She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
    Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Mila Owens, San Diego; son, Arno, Jackson, Wyo.; brother, Edwin Newton, Pomona, Cal.; and two grandchildren.

BERGER--Mrs. John Berger of Monroe dies; services Tuesday
    Mrs. John (Mabel) Berger, 83, Monroe, died this morning in Columbus. She was a former resident of the Bellwood community for many years.
    Funeral rites will be conducted by the Rev. Lowell Jones at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gass Funeral Home and 2 p.m. at First Methodist church. Burial will be in the Columbus cemetery. The body will lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Monday.
    Mrs. Berger was born June 28, 1882 at Nira, Ia., the daughter of Joseph and Mollie Hensley Drawbaugh. She came with her family to Bellwood in 1888, then to Columbus in 1896, and was graduated from Columbus high school. She taught rural school in Butler and Platte counties for six years.
    On June 30, 1909 she was married to John Berger in Lincoln. They lived at Bellwood until his death in March, 1961, after which Mrs. Berger made her home with a daughter at Monroe.
    She was a member of the Methodist church in Columbus and the family suggests that memorials be directed to that church.
    Survivors iclude two daughters, Mrs. Everett (Ruth) Haney of Rising City and Mrs. Dan (Mildred) Ditter of Monroe; one brother, Glenn Drawbaugh of Columbus; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Drawbaugh of Oregon and J.B. of Omaha; one sister, Mrs. Louis (Carrie) Angelous of Butte, Mont.; one half-brother, Ed Drawbaugh, and one half-sister, Mrs. Dorothy Yates, both of Bellwood.

KNOPICK--Joseph Knopick dies; funeral services Friday
    Joseph Knopick, 85, died Tuesday at his home, 3411 12th street.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Gass Funeral Home, with the Rev. A. R. Detwiler officiating, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery. The body is to lie in state after 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
    Mr. Knopick, a former railroad employee, was born March 20, 1880, in Tarnov.
    He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Frauendorfer; three sons, Edward and Paul of Columbus and Bazil of Omaha; three daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Libby) Schultz and Mrs. Harold (Helen) Meays of Columbus, and Mrs. Dorothy Meays; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
    Mr. Knopick was preceded in death by an infant son, Raymond.

KIRCHOFF--Albert Kirchoff dies in Omaha, funeral Monday
    Albert H. Kirchoff, 55, 1212 14th street, died Friday evening at St. Joseph's hospital in Omaha.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at McKown Funeral chapel, with the Rev. D. Lee Grace officiating, and burial will be in Osmond cemetery. The body will lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
    The son of Julius and Bertha Kirchoff, he was born May 25, 1910, at Plainview, and received his education there.
    Mr. Kirchoff was married to Albena Casey Feb. 20, 1941, at Plattsmouth. They lived in Osmond for one year, and had since resided in Columbus.
    He was employed by the Nebraska Department of Roads, and was a former employee of Swift & Company.
    Surviving are his wife and one son, Roman Harold Kirchoff, in the U.S. Air Force. He was presceded in death by his first wife, the former Elizabeth Nau; and his parents.

BURR--Rites held here for Alfred Burr
    Alfred E. Burr, who died Friday night in Omaha, was buried Monday afternoon in Columbus cemetery. He was the husband of the former Geraldine Gray of Columbus.
    Chairman of the board of Western Securities company, he became associated with that firm in 1940 and at one time or another held every office in the company. He was elevated to president in 1948 and became chairman of the board in February, 1963.
    He was a former president of the Omaha Real Estate Board, former member of the Nebraska Real Estate Commission and served as Omaha Chamber of Commerce director in 1941-42.
    Besides his widow, he is survived by a son, Gray, in Eastham, Mass., and four granddaughters.

BOYD--Harold E. Boyd, Washington, dies
    Harold E. Boyd, 67, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Columbus, died Monday evening. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday.
    Mr. Boyd was the brother of Mrs. Otto B. Johannes of Columbus. There are two other sisters, Mrs. Anna Weber of Sterling, Colo., and Mrs. Jesse Mowery of Long Beach, Calif., and a brother, R.W.E. Boyd of Norfolk.
    Also surviving are Mr. Boyd's wife, Evelyn (3921 4th Plain, Vancouver), and one son, Gary of San Francisco.

KENT--Mrs. Hester Kent dies; funeral services Friday
    Mrs. Hester D. Kent, 72, formerly of Columbus, died this morning in Schuyler Memorial hospital. She had been living at Schuyler Senior Citizens Home.
    Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Harold B. Taylor at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gass Funeral Home, where an Eastern Star service will also be held.
    Burial will be Columbus cemetery. The body is to lie in state at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Thursday.
    Mrs. Kent was born Aug. 1, 1883 at North Bend, the daughter of John R. and Martha MacDonald Collins.
    After her graduation from North Bend high school she attended Peru State Teachers college and taught in Dodge rural county schools until her marriage to John Kent at North Bend Nov. 28, 1912.
    They lived in Omaha, Columbus and St. Louis. In Columbus she was past worthy matron of Harmony Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and a member of the Union Pacific Ladies Auxiliary and Federated church. Memorials may be directed to the Eastern Star.
    She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Arnold (Helen) Oehlrich, Richland; three grandchildren and four great-grandchidren. Her husband and one brother, Frederick MacDonald, Lincoln, preceded her in death.

BOSS--Fred C. Boss dies Tuesday, funeral Friday
    Fred C. Boss, 70, of 1309 9th street, died unexpectedly Tuesday.
    Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. A. R. Detwiler officiating, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery.
    The body is to lie in state at McKown Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Thursday until noon Friday, then at the church from 1 p.m. to the hour of service.
    Mr. Boss was born Feb. 18, 1896, at Monroe, the son of John and Elizabeth Gerber Boss. He was married to Rosa Meyer Oct. 21, 1921, at Columbus, and she died Sept. 14, 1959. On Dec. 17, 1962, he was married to Clara Boss.
    He was retired employee of Western Power & Gas Company.
    Mr. Boss was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Hartman Post No. 84, American Legion, and the post will conduct military graveside services Friday.
    Reared in the Lutheran faith, Mr. Boss later joined St. Luke's congregation.
    He is survived by his widow, Clara; daughter, Mrs. Lauren (Evelyn) Ketelson of Pickstown, S.D.; two sons, Raymond Boss of Columbus and LaVern of Shelby; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Oscar Boss of Leigh and Herman of Norfolk; three half-brothers, Edward and Glen Boss of Columbus and Clarence of Lincoln.
    Mr. Boss was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents and a brother, John.
    The family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Luke's church.

BRANDT--Mrs. Ottylia Brandt dies; funeral services Monday
    Mrs. Ottylia Brandt, 82, of 3813 13th street, died Thursday night in the Lutheran hospital after an illness of two weeks.
    She was a lifetime resident of Platte county and had lived in Columbus since 1945.
    Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Assembly of God church, the Rev. Dale K. Eden officiating. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery, Okay.
    The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Sunday to 9:30 a.m. Monday, then at church from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service.
    Mrs. Brandt was born April 7, 1884 in Platte county, daughter of the late Paul Christian and Elizabeth Von Bergen Gertsch. She attended District 32 school.
    On Sept. 1, 1909 she was married to Joachim Henry Brandt at her parents' home. He died in 1944.
    She was a member of the Assembly of God church, a former Sunday school superintendent and former member of the New Hope cemetery board.
    Surviving are five children, Paul Henry of Phoenix, Rev. William Walter of Littleton, Colo., Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) Mohrman of Monroe, Mrs. Estal (Elizabeth) Nansel of Elk Grove Village, Ill., and Dorothy Mae, at home; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Helmuth Gertsch of La Canada, Cal.; four sisters, Mrs. Lydia Schoembs and Mrs. Felix Chadwick of Van Nuys, Cal., Mrs. H. R. Weber of Monroe and Mrs. D. A. Young of Three Rivers, Cal.
    Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Werner, Carl, Walter and Paul Gertsch, and two sisters, Ellinor and Mrs. Alma Bartlett.

BREWER--Funeral services for C. O. Brewer on Monday
    Funeral services for Cornelius Oscar Brewer, 84, of 3611 13th street, will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Federated church with the Rev. Harold B. Taylor officiating.
    Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Wyuka cemetery, Lincoln. The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Sunday.
    Mr. Brewer, a retired railroad engineer, died Friday morning in St. Mary's hospital after an illness of two days.
    He was born Sept. 11, 1881 at Medaryville, Ind., the son of Winfield Scott and Aldora Barkalow Brewer. He spent his boyhood in Bellwood, and was graduated from Bellwood high school.
    His adult life was spent in Lincoln and Columbus. He was an engineer for the CB & Q Railroad for many years, retiring in 1952.
    Mr. Brewer was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers; a past noble grand of the Oddfellows lodge; member of Rebekah lodge and attended the Federated church.
    He was first married to Jennie O'Dell on Jan. 5, 1905. She preceded him in death March 26, 1924.
    On March 7, 1946 he married Nellie Ernst, who survives him.
    Other survivors include two sons, Clifford of Billings, Mont., and Paul of Los Angeles; four stepchildren, Jack Ernst of Omaha, Carl Ernst of St. Louis, Mrs. Elwin (Geraldine) Saalfeld of Geyser, Mont., and Paul Ernst of Columbus; one brother, Albert of Cutbank, Mont.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    A son, Hershel (Jack) and two brothers preceded him in death.

    He was married to Evelyn F. Warholoski Aug. 30, 1934, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help church, Ord, and they made their home in Columbus.
    Mr. Kusek was a member of St. Bonaventure parish.
    Surviving are his wife; one son, Dr. Alan J. Kusek of Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Andrew of Elyria and Joe of Hastings; and four sisters, Mrs. J. B. (Verna) Zulkoski and Mrs. Jim (Kate) Iwanski of Elyria, Mrs. John (Cela) Michalek and Mrs. Ray (Kathryn) Harrahill of Omaha.

    Mrs. Margaret Braun, 87, resident of Morys Haven, died Tuesday after a lingering illness.

    The daughter of John and Anna Bach, she was born in Germany Aug. 1, 1878. She attended St. Bernard school.
    On Feb. 4, 1900, she was married to John Braun at St. Mary church, and they made their home in that vicinity near Humphrey. She had lived in Columbus the past seven years.
    Mrs. Braun was a member of St. Bonaventure church, and of the Third Order of St. Francis.
    Surviving are three sons, Cyril and Remy of Columbus and Ted of Rock Island, Ill.; four daughters, Mrs. Edward (Regina) Chohon of Madison, Mrs. Lloyd (Margaret) Bartholomew of Columbus, Mrs. Chris (Anna) Dohmen of Grand Island, and Mrs. Lyle (Tillie) Haidley of La Mesa, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
    Mrs. Braun was preceded in death by her husband, June 20, 1939; one son, S-Sgt. Joseph J. Braun, in Korea; one daughter, Mary, in 1933; her parents, three brothers and two sisters.

    Mr. Brauner, a retired farmer, died unexpectedly Thursday at his home.
    He was born Oct. 12, 1887 in Platte county, the son of Wendolin and Anna Jaurnick Brauner, and attended District 23 school.
    He married Ella Muhle on Feb. 19, 1925 at St. Paul's Lutheran church, Leigh. They farmed near Leigh in the St. Paul area, retiring to Columbus in February, 1946.
    Mr. Brauner is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Delores) Bachman and Mrs. Dale (Nadine) Bachman, both of Fremont; five grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Bertha) Helms of Denver.
    Five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
    Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran church, with which Mr. Brauner was associated.

    The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parsch, she was born March 3, 1888, at Maehren, Austria, and received her education there.
    She was married to Joseph Badstieber in 1910 in Maehren, Austria. They have lived in Columbus many years.
    Mrs. Badstieber was a member of St. Bonaventure church and active in the Franciscan Missionary Union.
    Surviving are her husband; son, Joseph Badstieber, Jr.; four grandchildren, Mrs. R.L. (Joan) Phillipps of Omaha, Joseph Badstieber III and Miss Judy Badstieber of Columbus, and Mrs. Tom (Patricia) Lakers of Chicago; four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Erna Badstieber, Columbus; and a stepsister, Ottilie Parsch of Germany.

    Funeral services for Clifford Dale Kruse, 40, of Oklahoma City, Okla., will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran church here.
    Pastor Harlan Heier will officiate, with burial in Columbus cemetery. The body now lies in state at McKown Funeral Home. The casket will not be opened at the church.
    Mr. Kruse died Monday in Cleveland, Okla., after a brief illness.
    The son of Harm Kruse and the late Mrs. Anna Kruse, he was born May 15, 1926, at Brady. He attended Rising City and Columbus schools.
    Mr. Kruse was a tree surgeon. He was in the armed forces in World War II from March 2, 1945, to Nov. 20, 1946.
    He was a confirmed member of Good Shepherd Lutheran church.

    Final rites for 70-year-old Fred J. Beierman of 2511 10th street, who died Thursday after an illness of nine weeks, will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Bonaventure church.

    Mr. Beierman was born Jan. 2, 1896, at Lindsay, the son of John and Caroline Bunzy Beierman, and attended St. Bernard school.
    He was married to Agnes Kurtenbach on April 14, 1920, and they lived in Lindsay, Humphrey and Washington before coming to Columbus two years ago. Mr. Beierman was a carpenter.
    Mr. Beierman was a veteran of World War I, having served from July 22, 1918, to Dec. 9, 1918, with the 163rd Depot Brigade. He was affiliated with the American Legion.
    He was a member of St. Bonaventure church.
    Mr. Beierman is survived by his wife; seven sons, Melvin Beierman of Pierz, Minn., Donald of Soap Lake, Wash., William of Platte Center, Ralph of Westbrook, Minn., Fred of Moses Lake, Wash., Jack of Ephrata, Wash., and Jerry of Coulee Dam, Wash.; seven daughters, Mrs. Maynard (Wilma) German of Humphrey, Mrs. Leo (Mary Ann) Fischer of Norfolk, Mrs. Donald (Doris Jean) Cohrs of Douray, Minn., Mrs. Merlin (Bernette) Stone of St. Edward, Mrs. Jim (Deloris) Frazier of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Don (Carole) Hollatz of Watertown, S.D., and Mrs. Fred (Charlene) Suter of Grand Forks, N.D.

BAHR--Last rites for Dennis Bahr on Saturday
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Methodist church for PFC Dennis K. Bahr, 19, who was killed in an accident Aug. 19 in Viet Nam.

    A 1964 graduate of Columbus high school, Pvt. Bahr entered the Army Sept. 30, 1965. He attended Miltary Police school at Ford Gordon, Ga., and was the oustanding graduate of his class.
    Born at Stromsburg Oct. 20, 1946, he also lived at Shelby and Osceola before moving to Columbus. He played football in Osceola high school.
    Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Carol Bahr, and brother, Charles, both of Columbus; his father, Neal D. Bahr of Hastings; and grandmother, Mrs. Mary Bahr of Shelby.
    His maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather preceded him in death.

JOHANNES--Wednesday rites for Otto Johannes, Columbus farmer
    Otto Johannes, 80, of Rt. 2, Columbus, died Saturday in Lutheran hospital after an illness of 14 months.
    Services are scheduled for Wednesday, 1:15 p.m. at Gass Funeral Home and 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church with burial in Christ Lutheran cemetery. The Rev. Martin Bornemann will officiate. Body will lie in state at the Gass chapel after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
    Mr. Johannes, a farmer, spent his lifetime in Platte and Colfax counties.
    He was born Feb. 28, 1886 in Platte county, the son of Henry and Helen Wilke Johannes, and attended Platte county schools.
    A Lutheran, he was baptized and confirmed at St. John's church, Missouri Synod, north of Columbus. In later years he was a member of Christ Lutheran church and LLL men's club. He was also a member of Pioneer Shippers association.
    He married Louise Grotelueschen July 6, 1911 at Christ Lutheran church. She and a son, Elmer, died in 1938.
    Surviving are two sons, Ernest of Columbus and Walter of Sacramento, Cal.; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Alvina) Lutjelusche and Mrs. Arthur (Clara) Siefken of Columbus, Mrs. Herman (Arnella) Waak of Schuyler; 15 grandchildren; one brother, Herman of Chapman; four sisters, Mrs. Fred (Emma) Griepentrog and Mrs. Chris (Tetta) Peterson of Columbus, Mrs. Clara Rippen of San Antonio, Tex., and Mrs. Louise Sjuts of Humphrey.

KUPP--Funeral services on Wednesday for Gottlieb Kupp, 75
    Funeral services for Gottlieb Kupp, 75, of 1922 8th street, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ.
    The Rev. A. R. Detwiler and the Rev. Lowell Jones will officiate, and burial will be in Roselawn Memorial cemetery. The body will lie in state after 6 p.m. today at Gass Funeral Home, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
    Mr. Kupp died Sunday night at Lutheran hospital after being ill the past two months.
    The son of Gottlieb and Ida Bertschi Kupp, he was born Jan. 7, 1891 in Zurich, Switzerland, and received his education there. He came to the United States when 18 years of age and engaged in farming.
    Mr. Kupp started to work for Bill Engel in 1928 in Columbus as an auto tinner. He purchased the business in 1942 and remained active until his retirement in November, 1959.
    He was married to Emma Blumenstein here in August, 1914, and she died in 1942. On June 1, 1946, he was married to Blanche Taylor in Columbus.
    Mr. Kupp was affiliated with St. Luke's United Church of Christ, and the family suggests that memorials may be directed to the church. He was a charter member of the Swiss Maennerchor and the Apollo Club, and also a member of the Eagles Lodge.
    Surviving are his wife, Blanche; one daughter, Mrs. Clifford (Martha A.) Peterson of Genoa; three sons, Otto W. of Longvale, Calif., Albert A. of Dallas, Tex., and Walter H. of Winfield, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and three brothers, Jacob of Sunnyside, Wash., Otto E. of North Hollywood, Calif., and Albert C. of Kansas City, Mo.
    He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma, and his parents.

    Mrs. Jarecki was a Catholic, and a member of St. Ann's Society.
    Surviving are her husband; children, Eugene of Denver, Colo., Rev. Reynold (Adrian), O.F.M. of Watkins Glen, N.Y., Dominic of Denver, Joseph R. of Columbus, Mrs. E.J. BRUNKEN--Gustav Brunken rites will be on Saturday
    Funeral services for Gustav Brunken, 86, of Lincoln will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran church, 12 and H streets in Lincoln. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery.
    A native of Platte County, Mr. Brunken died today in a Lincoln nursing home.
    He was born Sept. 12, 1880, in Columbus and spent his early years in Platte county, moving to Oklahoma as a young man. He lived there until 1925 when he came back to Columbus. He moved to Lincoln in 1945.
    Mr. Brunken married Ida Schlosser April 30, 1913, in Oklahoma.
    A retired farmer, he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church in Columbus.
    Survivors include his wife; sons, Raymond of Kingston, N.Y., Edwin of Rochester, Ill.; daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Irene) Briggs, Fremont, Mrs. Sam (Adeline) Mallett, Downey, Cal., Miss Fern Brunken, Mountain View, Cal, Miss Ruth Brunken of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl and Emil of Columbus, Edward of Knoxville, Ia.; sisters, Mrs. Mary Witt of Omaha, Mrs. Anna Roach and Mrs. Herman Karlin, both of Columbus.
    Preceding him were his parents and brothers Louis, William, Henry and Otto.
    Memorials may be sent to the Lutheran hour.

BUCKLEY--Death - Julian Buckley, 90, died Monday in the David City hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Christian church and burial will be in the David City cemetery. The body will lie in state from 3-9 p.m. Thursday at David City Memorial Chapel.

KUMMER--Samuel Kummer dies, services on Wednesday
    Samuel Kummer, 78, 1721 20th Avenue, died Sunday at St. Mary's Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ with the Rev. A.R. Detwiler officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn cemetery.
    The body will lie in state after 2 p.m,. Monday at Gass Funeral Home and at the cghuyrcg Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service.
    He was born Feb. 21, 1888 at Duncan the son of Wilhelm and Lisette Eisenmann Kummer. He received his education in dist. 37 of Platte county and on April 23, 1915 he married Mathilda Odermatt at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Gerber in Duncan with Rev. Braun officiating.
    He farmed near St. Edward and later was employed for 27 years by Loup River Public Power District. He was retired for the past nine years.
    The family suggest memorials be directed toward St. Luke's United Church of Christ of which he was a member. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Joe (Mary) Schmidt, Flushing, N.Y., and one sister, Mrs. Clara Cyphers, Columbus.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jacob and Albert of Duncan, two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Mary) Odermatt, Salem, Ore., and Mrs. Louis (Rose) Boss, silver Creek.

BARKELL--Mrs. Barkell Dies - Private services are scheduled for Saturday morning for Mrs. ___ Barkell who died Thursday morning at a Columbus hospital.     Mrs. Barkdell was born March 21, 1887, near Howells. She spent her early life in Colfax County and on Jan. 16, 1911, married Amos J. Studnicka who died February, 1912. They had one daughter, Bertha.
    On March 16, 1921, she married Otis L. Barkdell who died November, 1929.
    While in Colfax County she was a member of Old Zion Presbyterian church. Later she lived at Scribner, Oakland and Columbus, making her home at 4004 15th street.
    Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. James (Bertha) Orr of Columbus; granddaughter, Kathleen Orr of Columbus, brother, Albin Zastera of Howells; nephews, Phillip Mrsny, North Loup, Charles Mrsny, Scribner, Emil Mrsny, Denver, Colo.
    Preceding her were two husbands, parents, five brothers and three sisters.

    Friends received word of the death Sept. 17 of John J. Jones, 49, of Storm Lake, Ia., formerly of Columbus.
    Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Methodist church in Storm Lake. Officiating were Dr. Paul Hillman of Sioux City, Ia., formerly of Columbus, and the Rev. Ralph Baker. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery at York.
    Mr. Jones was employed by Peter Pan Comopny here, and was transferred nine years ago to Storm Lake. He had recently entered the employ of Kitty Clover.
    He is survived by his wife, Frances, and five children, Mrs. Linda Wilson of Long Beach, Calif., and Vicki, Cathy, Pat and Mike, at home.

    Born March 4, 1890 at Urbana, Ia., Rev. Beebe pastored in Missouri, Kansas and the following places in Nebraska: Otto, Union, Silver Creek, Purple Cane church north of Rogers, Fairfield, Arlington and Creighton. He was serving Nickerson at the time of his death.
    He was a Mason and Shriner.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Anna D. Blohm, 78, who died Friday at Morys Haven, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran church.
    The Rev. Hugo Rathkamp will officiate, with burial in Columbus cemetery. The body is to lie in state after 11 a.m. Monday at Gass Funeral Home, and Tuesday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.
    She was born Jan. 29, 1888, at West Point, the daughter of Gerhard and Christinia Hartman Schulte, and was married to John J. Blohm March 22, 1906.
    Mrs. Blohm had resided with her children the last three years after spending many years on a farm north of Columbus.
    A Lutheran, she was confirmed April 8, 1900 at Zion Lutheran church, Grand Prairie. After her marriage, she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and later Trinity Lutheran church in Columbus.
    Survivors include eight children, Mrs. J.F. (Dorothy) Engler of David City, Mrs. Jake (Elsie) Samland of Artesia, Cal., Mrs. S.Y. (Hilda) Robbins of Lakeside, Cal., Mrs. Rinehold (Alice) Rupp and Mrs. Joe (Adelia) Hilger of Columbus, George of Salt Lake City, Utah, Gerald of Las Vegas, Nev., and Ralph of Detroit, Mich.; 20 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; one step-sister, Mrs. Harry Kamm of Platte Center; and one step-brother, John Husman of Columbus.
    Mrs. Blohm was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; two sisters, Mrs. Thees Janssen of Columbus and Mrs. Gerhard Harms of Platte Center; three brothers, Henry, William and Fred Schulte; one stepsister, Hattie Husman; and one stepbrother, Henry Husman.

BUNNEY--Father Dies - Loron Bunney, 78, father of Mrs. Gilbert Behlen, died Sunday morning in Ogallala. A former Columbus resident and long-time State Game Commission warden, he retired last year after serving 40 years on the commission staff. He was a warden of the eastern half of the state before morning [sic] to Ogallala in 1943. Funeral arrangements are pending.

    Services were held at 10 a.m. today at McKown Funeral Home for Mrs. A.E. Brookshier, 81, who died Friday evening in Morys Haven where she resided the last few years. She was the mother of Mrs. M.P. Moriarty, Columbus.
    The Rev. Harold B. Taylor officiated at the funeral rites. Another service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Des Moines, Ia., followed by burial in Resthaven Park cemetery.
    Mrs. Brookshier was born in Kentucky Nov. 26, 1884 and married Archie Brookshier in Missouri in 1903. They lived at Des Moines and Branson, Mo.
    She was a PTA past president, past matron of Eastern Star and past president of Women's Auxiliary, Railway Mail Association. Affiliated with the Methodist church, she was a former church organist.
    Preceding her in death were her husband; parents, Gabriel and Martha Giddnes May; two brothers and five sisters.
    In addition to her daughter, she is survived by three sons, A.E., Jr., Jackson, Mich.; R.G., Tucson, Ariz.; R.L., San Antonio, Tex.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BERNT--Mr. Bernt Dies - Gregor Bernt of Grand Island, a former resident of Polk and Platte counties, died Wednesday afternoon at St. Francis hospital, Grand Island. He is survived by two sons, Lawrence of Grand Island and Siegfred of Sacramento, Calif., one daughter, Mrs. Ruth McLellan of Grand Island; one brother, Albert of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Anna Krepsbach of Shelby. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's church, Grand Island, with Livingston Mortuary in charge.

BERGMAN--Gus E. Bergman dies today, rites Saturday
    Retired Columbus industrialist Gus E. Bergman, 72, of 1821 17th street, died this morning at St. Mary's hospital.
    Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Gass Funeral chapel, with Fr. E. William Pounds officiating, and burial will be in Columbus cemetery with military graveside rites. The body is to lie in state at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
    Mr. Bergman became associated with the Reece Wooden Sole Shoe Company here in 1932, and was vice president until his retirement in 1961.
    He was born May 10, 1894, in Hastings, the son of Ernest C. and Anna Petersen Bergman. The family moved to Schuyler when he was two years old, then in 1908 came to Columbus.
    Mr. Bergman attended elementary school in Schuyler, was graduated from Columbus high school and attended Columbus business college.
    A veteran of World War I, he served in the U.S. Air Corps from 1917-19 and saw duty in France with the 72nd Aerial Squadron.
    On returning, Mr. Bergman was in the monument business with his father until becoming associated with the Reece company.
    He was married to Angelene Reece Aug. 14, 1919, in Columbus.
    Mr. Bergman was affiliated with Hartman Post No. 84, American Legion. A charter member of the former Wayside Country Club, he was later a member of Elks Country Club.
    Surviving are his wife; one son, Reece Bergman of Columbus; three daughters, Mrs. R.E. (Bette) Wilson of Madison, Mrs. William D. (Mary Jane) Marsden of Thousand Oaks, Cal., and Mrs. Donald J. (Dorothy) Slonecker of Columbus, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a sister, Mrs. Tom Dailey of Wahoo.
    His parents preceded him in death.

BERENDS--Julie Berends of Madison dies, rites set for Monday
    Julie Berends, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milan Berends, Rt. 1, Madison, died shortly before midnight Thursday in Lutheran hospital, Norfolk, where she was a patient since Sunday. She would have been three years old today.
    Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran church, Madison, with the Rev. Alvin Bruenger officiating. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery at Madison.
    The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral Home in Columbus after 11 a.m. Sunday and at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday.
    Born Nov. 11, 1963, Julie is survived by her parents, Milan and Liela (Mueller) Berends; three brothers Russell, Jeffrey and Gary, and one sister, Jeanette, all at home.
    Other survivors include her grandfather, Martin Berends of Columbus; two great-grandmothers, Mrs. Fred Mueller of Columbus and Mrs. Tena Berends of Platte Center; four aunts, two uncles and several granduncles and grandaunts.
    Her maternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Ernest Mueller and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Martin Berends, preceded her in death.

    Walter A. Boettcher, 77, prominent Columbus resident, died Tuesday evening in St. Mary's hospital where he had been a patient the past week. He underwent surgery Tuesday morning.
    Funeral arrangements are tentatively set for 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Episcopal church, with burial in Columbus cemetery. Gass Funeral Home is in charge.
    Mr. Boettcher had 62 years of experience in the building and loan business. He was former president of Speice, Echols, Boettcher company and former secretary-treasurer of the Equitable Building and Loan association.
    One of the organizers of Loup Power District, he served a total of 26 years on its board of directors. He also served on the board of directors of Consumers Public Power District when it was first organized, but resigned that position in 1948 and was re-elected to the Loup board, seving continuously ever since.
    Mr. Boettcher, a lifetime resident of Columbus and former city treasurer for many years, is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Carl Schumacher of Rapid City, S.D.

BOETTCHER--Funeral services Friday for Walter A. Boettcher
    Funeral services for Walter A. Boettcher, 77, prominent Columbus resident, will be held Friday, 1:30 p.m. at Gass Funeral Home and 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal church. The Rev. E. William Pounds will officiate.
    Burial will be in Columbus cemetery, with Masonic rites. The body lies in state at Gass Funeral Home.
    Mr. Boettcher, who died Tuesday evening in St. Mary's hospital, had 52 years of experience in the building and loan business.
    He was former president of Speice, Echols, Boettcher company and former secretary-treasurer of Equitable Building and Loan association. He was a well-known land appraiser in this area.
    For many years he was a director of First National Bank.
    Public Power Official
    Long active in public power affairs, Mr. Boettcher was one of the organizers of the Loup Power District and served a total of 26 years on its board of directors. He was a director at the time of his death.
    He also helped organize Consumers Public Power District, and served on its board for 10 years.
    An active Democrat, Mr. Boettcher served as city treasurer from 1911-1950.
    Son of the late August and Jennie Adamson Boettcher, he was born Dec. 4, 1888 in Columbus and spent his lifetime here.
    After his graduation from Columbus high school in 1907 he attended Columbus Business college and began his career in the real estate, insurance and loan office of the Elliott, Speice, Echols company. In 1913 he beame a member of the firm and the name was changed to Speice, Echols, Boettcher company.
    Organizations
    Mr. Boettcher was a 45-year charter member of the Lions club, a member of the fire department and Chamber of Commerce.
    Prominent in Masonic groups, he was a past high priest of Orient Chapter No. 18, Royal Arch Masons; past master of Gebal Council No. 12, Royal and Select Masters; past commander of Gethsemane Commandery No. 21, Knights Templar; and a member of Lebanon Lodge No. 323, AF & AM.
    A member of the Elks lodge, he served 14 years on the Elks Christmas committee. He was a former member of the local Country Club.
    Mr. Boettcher was a former vestryman of Grace Episocpal church.
    An ardent fisherman and hunter, he held membership in the local Izaak Walton league.
    Survivors
    Surviving are his wife, the former Elsa Pohl, whom he married Feb. 4, 1913 in Columbus; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Gretchen) Schumacher of Rapid City, S.D.; three grandchildren; one brother, Ray Boettcher of Columbus; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Matlick of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Mrs. Dorothy Meays of Monrovia, Calif.
    Six brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
    The family suggests that memorials be directed to Grace Episcopal church.

    Funeral services for Herman T. Keefer, Sr., 65, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anthony Catholic church.
    Fr. Maynard Billig, O.F.M., will officiate with burial in St. Bonaventure cemetery. Military graveside services will be by Hartman Post 83, American Legion. The body is to lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday at MeKown funeral Home, where rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Sunday.
    Mr. Keefer was born in Columbus Aug. 7, 1901, the son of William and Christine Nauenburg Keefer. He was married to Anna M. Kaipust Aug. 12, 1929, at St. Joseph church, Platte Center, and they made their home here. Mr. Keefer was employed by the municipal water department as an operator.
    Mr. Keefer served in Company I, 55th Infantry, from Jan 19, 1921, to July 15, 1921, and in the 110th Medical Regiment, Nebraska national guard, from April 18, 1938, to Sept. 3, 1940. He was a sergeant at time of discharge.
    He was a member of St. Anthony church.
    Surviving are his wife; three sons, Richard of Kearney, Herman C. of Omaha and Merlyn of Columbus; nine grandchildren; two brothers Chris of Columbus and Bill of Newton, Ia.; and one sister, Mrs. G.R. (Tillie) Kreshaw (sic) of Laramie, Wyo.
    Mr. Keefer was preceded in death by one son, Dwayne, Nov. 6, 1958, and his parents.

KOOP--Katherine Koop services are set
    ST. EDWARD--Services for Mrs. Kathrine (Kate) Koop, 88, of Columbus, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. L. A. Hansen officiating. Mrs. Koop died at a St. Edward convalescent home after a lingering illness. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
    Born July 28, 1877, in Sharon, Wis., she and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Meder Koop, moved to a homestead north of O'Neill when a small child. She also lived with a sister at Monroe in 1897. After her marriage to John Koop, June 1, 1898, she lived on a farm three miles east of St. Edward until 1952 when she moved to Columbus. She had been at the convalescent home for the past three years.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Harry and John; three brothers and one sister. Survivors include a son, George of Columbus, and nieces and nephews.

BERNT--Services held for Gregor Bernt, 82
    Funeral services for Gregor Bernt, 82, Grand Island, were held Nov. 12 at St. Mary's Cathedral there. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, Westlawn Memorial Park.
    Mr. Bernt was born June 14, 1884, in Polk county to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bernt. The Bernt family came to the Grand Island community when he was a young man.
    He was married to Antonia Nissen Jan. 24, 1905, and they farmed in the Grand Island vicinity. They moved to Grand Island in 1936, and he was employed about 20 years by the Bartenbach Advertising Company.
    Mr. Bernt was a member of the parish of St. Mary's Cathedral.
    Surviving are his wife; two sons, Lawrence Bernt of Grand Island and Cecil of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. William McLellan, Sr., Grand Island; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert, of Columbus; and one sister, Mrs. Anna Krebsbach, Shelby.

    Miss Edna Beardsley, 80, former Columbus resident died at St. Elizabeth's hospital in Lincoln Wednesday. She had lived in Lincoln the past 30 years.
    Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Umbergers Mortuary Chapel in Lincoln with the Rev. Henry Beatty, former Methodist minister here, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Columbus cemetery.
    Miss Beardsley was born in Exeter, Ia., and lived in Columbus with her parents, Charles and Mary Beardsley. She taught piano for many years. She attended Grace Methodist church in Lincoln and was past worthy matron and 50-year member of the Columbus chapter, Order of Eastern Star.
    Survivors include two nephews, Everett Weaver of Columbus, and Allen Weaver of Port Washington, N.Y. Preceding her were her parents, one brother, Harry, and a sister, Mrs. V.H. (Effie) Weaver.

    Funeral services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday for Miss Rose Kuenzli 91, who died Thursday morning in Hoffmeister Nursing Home, Genoa. She had been a resident of the Colubus vicinity since she was a girl.
    The Rev. A.R. Detwiler will officiate at the rites in St. Luke's United church of Christ. Burial will be in Duncan cemetery. The body will lie in state at Gass Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday and at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday.
    Daughter of the late Franz and Maria Saggetzer Kuenzli, she was born March 24, 1874, in Switzerland, coming to Nebraska in 1879.
    She was a member of St. Luke's church. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Louise Hagel of Laramie, Wyo.
    Miss Kuenzli was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers, Fred, who died last February, and Frank (Kinzli), who died Wednesday.

    Funeral services for Frank Kinzli, 91, Rt 2, Columbus, will be at 2 p.,. Saturday at Gass Funeral Home with burial in Duncan cemetery.
    The Rev. Lowell Jones, Methodist pastor, will officiate. The body lies in state at the funeral home.
    A long-time Polk county farmer and taxidermist, Mr. Kinzli was well known for his collection of wildlife specimens and historical items which he displayed in a museum on his farm near Duncan. He was also a licensed veterinarian.
    Son of the late Franz and Maria Seggetzer Kuenzli, he was born in Switzerland April 15, 1875. Coming to this area at the age of four, he attended Polk county schools and Fremont Normal school.
    For nearly 20 years he served on the Polk county District 55 school board. He was a member of the Methodist church, and memorials may be directed to the Methodist church building fund.
    Surviving are his wife, the former Rose Mueller, whom he married Jan. 16, 1906 in Columbus; one son, Lindo, Rt. 2, Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Marion (Linnea) Koop of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Everett (Elaine) Solar of Colorado Springs; one sister, Mrs. Louise Hagel of Laramie, Wyo.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence; one brother, Fred (Kuenzli) and five sisters.

KOCH--Accident Victim - Relatives have received word of the death of Mrs. Marlene Koch of Santa Ana, Calif. She was killed in an auto accident Christmas Eve near Orange, Calif. She was formerly Marlene Weber of Columbus, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Weber. Burial is to be Wednesday in Santa Ana.
