JELDEN--Mrs. John Jelden Dies; Services On Wednesday
    Mrs. John Jelden, 87, long-time resident of Columbus, died at 10 p.m. Friday at St. Luke’s hospital, Kearney, where she had been a patient since Jan. 1. She had undergone major surgery there Tuesday.
    Before being transferred to the Kearney hospital, Mrs. Jelden had resided at the Lutheran hospital here for nine years. Her eyesight, failing in 1943, became gradually worse, leaving her almost totally blind at the time of her death.
    Funeral services will be held Wedesday at 1:45 p.m. at the Gass Funeral home and at 2:30 p.m. at the Shell Creek Baptist church. The Rev. Hunsicker, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Shell Creek Baptist cemetery. The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral home after 11 a.m. Tuesday till the time of the services.
    Mrs. Jelden, nee Meine Grotthoff, was born at Ostfreisland, Germany, on Dec. 20, 1864, one of 10 children. In the middle 1880’s, she and her twin sister, Trientje, came to America and since that time Mrs. Jelden resided in this vicinity.
    When she married John Jelden in November 1889, he had four step-children: John Kuper, now of Hilllsdale, Wyo; Henry Kuper now of Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Anna Kuper Arnold, now in California; and Mrs. Gretina Kuper Fay Wells, who died several years ago. Mr. Jelden passed away June 22, 1913.
    Mrs. Jelden was a member of the Shell Creek Baptist church and was a charter member of the Ladies Aid of that church.
    She is survived by three sons, Herman of Pomona, Calif., John, jr. of Salem, Ore.; and Dr. E. J. Jelden of Columbus; four daughters, Mrs. Henry Janssen of Emery, S.D.; Mrs. William Martin of Tucson, Ariz.; Mrs. William Settje and Mrs. Carl Seefeld, both of Columbus; 24 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; her twin sister, Mrs. John (Trientje) Hanssen of Columbus. No particulars are available concerning other sisters and brothers still in Germany.
    Besides her husband, Mrs. Jelden was preceded in death by a son, Gerhard, one daughter, Helena, another son who died in infancy, and two sisters.

JELDEN--Final Rites - Final rites were held Wednesday afternoon at the Shell Creek Baptist church for Mrs. John Jelden, 87, long-time resident of this communinty who died last Friday in a Kearney hospital. The Rev. Hunsicker officiated and burial was made in the Shell Creek Baptist cemetery. Pallbearers were: Winfred Jelden of Mitchell, S.D., Vernon Janssen of Emery, S.D.; Wilmer Settje of Creston; Quentin Seefeld, Milton and Harry Settje. Relatives from a distance at the funeral included: John Jelden of Salem, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Janssen, Mr. and Mrs. Winfred Jelden, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Guericke, Mr. and Mrs. William L. Schilberg, Mary, Ruth and Doris, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon H. Janssen and Judy Kay, all of Emery, S.D.; David Jelden of Kearney.

KUTZELMAN--Dies At Albion - M.D. Kutzelman, 83, died Thursday morning at Albion. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Smith Funeral home and at 2:30 p.m. at the Baptist church in Albion.

KRZYCKI--Dies in Grand Island - Frank Krzycki, father of Mrs. Victor Kaminski of Columbus, died Friday at the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island. He was also a brother of Phillip Krzycki of Rt. 4, Columbus. Funeral services are pending.

KESTERSON--Brother-In-Law Dies - Mrs. William Eggert has received word tht her brother-in-law, Louis Kesterson of Albion, died Friday in a Lincoln hospital. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at the Methodist church, Albion.

EGGER--Funeral services for Julius C. Egger, 84, long-time resident of Platte county, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical and Reformed church with the Rev. R. M. Jensen, officiating. Burial will be made in Roselawn Memorial park.
    The family requests, that in place of flowers, memorials be made in the form of contributions to the Evangelical and Reformed church building fund.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass Funeral chapel after 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the services.
    Mr. Egger died Monday morning at the home of his son, Bert Egger, near Columbus, following two months' illness.
    He was born April 6, 1867 at Arwangen, Switzerland, one of 15 children of Johannes and Elisa Sagesar Egger. In 1889 he came to the United States and since that time lived in this area.
    After his marriage to Mary Jenny on Feb. 22, 1894 in Columbus, he farmed in Platte and Butler counties. Mrs. Egger died in 1936.
    Mr. Egger was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church, Sons of Hermann lodge and the Swiss Verein.
    He is survived by 11 of his 13 children: William of Billings, Mont.; Ernst of Julesburg Colo.; Caesar of Lemoncove, Calif.; Julius and Walter of Los Angeles; Emil of Humphrey; Milton of Silver Springs, Md.; Mrs. Fred Swan, Mrs. Arthur Heibel, Mrs. Arthur Schwank, and Bert Egger, all of Columbus. Two sons preceded him in death, Fred in December, 1950, and Julius, jr.
    Other survivors include: two brothers, Moritz of Columbus and Gudo of Switzerland; five sisters, Mrs. Emma Zurcher and Mrs. Julia Allenbach, both of Switzerland, Mrs. Frieda Schwaller of Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Fred Boesiger and Mrs. Lena Mueller, both of Columbus; 36 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

HERRGUTH--Will Hold Funeral Rites Thursday of Mrs. Carl Herrguth
    Funeral services for Mrs. Carl Herrguth, 54, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the G.W. Viergutz home, 2105 Fifteenth street, and at 2:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran church. The Rev. A. H. Guettler, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the Columbus cemetery.
    Mrs. Herrguth died suddenly of a heart attack last Thursday at La Paz, Baja, Mexico, a fishing resort near the southern tip of the lower California peninsula, where she and her husband had been vacationing. Her body is being brought to Columbus, and will lie in state at the G. W. Viergutz home from 5 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the services.
    A life-long resident of Columbus, Mrs. Herrguth was born Vera Viergutz, daughter of G. W. and Anna Hunteman Viergutz, on Jan. 26, 1897. She received her education in the city schools.
    Her marriage to Carl Herrguth took place Feb. 25, 1922 in Columbus.
    A member of Immanuel Lutheran church, Mrs. Herrguth was active in the Sewing circle and other church organizations. She was also a member of Wayside Country club.
    During World War II, Mrs. Herrguth worked as a nurse’s aid in the local hospitals, and during the past few years she assisted in this capacity when the Red Cross made its bloodmobile visits to Columbus.
    Surviving Mrs. Herrguth are her husband; mother, Mrs. G. W. Viergutz, of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Mark T. McMahon of Akron, Ohio; two brothers, Arthur of Omaha and Gus Viergutz of Columbus. Her father and one brother, Walter, preceded her in death.

JENKINSON--Dies Near Monroe - William J. Jenkinson, 69, died Wednesday afternoon at his home one mile north of Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at his home, and burial will be made in the Friends cemetery.

KETCHUM--Mrs. Ketchum Dies - Mrs. H.B. Tiffany has received word that her sister-in-law, Mrs. Lou T. Ketchum, formerly of Columbus, died March 2 in a Lewiston, Ida. hospital and was buried on Tuesday. Mrs. Ketchum fell last autumn, suffering a fractured hip and failed to recover. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Tiffany, former Columbus residents. Surviving Mrs. Ketchum are: her daughter, Mrs. William Jackson, and son, Neal Ketchum, both of Lewiston, Ida.; two brothers, Joe Tiffany of Marion, Ind., and Eugene Tiffany of Omaha; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Kells of Marion, Ind.

LEMKE--Funeral Services - Funeral services for Mrs Ruth Kruger Lemke, 56, sister of Mrs. Anna McGann of Columbus, were held March 2 at Ft. Atkinson, Wis. Mrs. Lemke died Feb. 28 following a year's illness.

KELLEY--Funeral Services Held Today For Mrs. Bertha Kelley
    Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Kelley, 77, long-time resident of Columbus, were held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Federated church with the Rev. Franklin Wales, pastor, offiiating. Burial was made in Roselawn Memorial park.
    Mrs. Kelley died about 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Morys Nursing home, following a lingering illness.
    She was born July 6, 1874 at Sterling, Ill., the daughter of Milton and Martha Thomas Obrist.
    Her marriage to William J. Kelley took place Oct. 5, 1898 in Columbus and they resided in Monroe for many years. They moved to Columbus about 18 years ago, and Mr. Kelley died Nov. 5, 1946.
    Mrs. Kelley was a member of the Federated church and was affiliated with Vashti Rebekah lodge, Harmony Chapter No. 13, Order of Eastern Star, and the Y Ladies.
    She is survived by: two children, John of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Mrs. Ted Haldiman of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Willard McCone of Albion; two brothers, Lannie Obrist of Stromsburg and Eddie Obrist of Columbus; and three grandchildren.
    Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons who died in infancy, her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
    Gass funeral home had charge of the arrangements.

KOENIG--Albert Koenig Dies Suddenly Of Heart Attack
    Albert H. Koenig, 38, Butler county farmer, died suddenly of a heart attack last night while attending a dance in David City.
    Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph's mission church south of Columbus, with burial in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Fr. Adam Szmydt, pastor, will officiate.
    The body will lie in state here at the Gass funeral chapel from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday when it will be taken to the home, five miles south of Columbus, there to lie in state until the hour of the services.
    Rosary will be prayed at the home at 8:30 p.m. Friday.
    Mr. Koenig, son of the late William and Anna Nebosis Koenig, was born in Butler county on Oct. 2, 1913 and received his education in the Butler county rural schools.
    At the time of his death, he had been farming with his brother, George, five miles south of Columbus.
    A member of St. Joseph's mission church, he had been serving as secretary of the church building committee. He was also a member of the school board of District 41, Butler county, and a former member of the Eagles lodge.
    Survivors are: two brothers, Ernest of Bellwood and George of Columbus; three sisters, Mrs. Roscoe Francis of Columbus, Mrs. Otto Selzer of Bellwood, and Miss Luella Koenig, who lived at home with George and Albert; also two nieces and one nephew. Mrs. Koenig's parents preceded him in death.

JOHNSON--Dies in Fremont - Mrs. Lee Johnson, 87, mother of the late I.R. Johnson of Columbus, died Wednesday morning in a Fremont hospital, following a lingering illness. Mrs. I.R. Johnson and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Peterson, will attend the funeral in Fremont Friday afternoon.

KOENIG--Services Held - Funeral services were held this morning at the St. Joseph mission church, south of Columbus, for Albert H. Koenig, 38, who died suddenly Tuesday night in David City. The Rev. JANSSEN--Thees Janssen Dies; Services On Wednesday
    Thees Janssen, 82, long-time resident of this vicinity, died Sunday aftenroon at his home, 1861 Twenty-sixth avenue. He had been in failing health for several months.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the family home and at 2:30 p.m. at Christ Lutheran church, followed by burial in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Martin Borneman, pastor, will officiate.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass funeral home hapel from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the home, there to lie in state until the time of the services.
    In charge of memorials will be Rhinehart Henke, at the home and Emil H. Wilke, at the church.
    Mr. Janssen, son of the late Johannes and Meta Theesan Janssen, was born Mar 13, 1870, in Fehn, Ausfriesland [sic], Germany. In 1883 he came with his parents to the United States, and they settled on a farm 11 miles north of Columbus. Mr. Janssen resided there until 1947 when he retired and moved to his present home in Columbus.
    His marriage to Gertrude Schulte of Platte Center took place July 25, 1906, at Zion Lutheran church, Grand Prairie, and she preceded him in death on April 23, 1941.
    Mr. Janssen was a member of Christ Lutheran church and had been confirmed there in 1886.
    Survivors are: two sons, Arthur of Platte Center, and Raymond of Columbus; five daughters, Mrs. Clarence Gehring of Humphrey, Mrs. Ernest Gehring of Platte Center, Anna, Meta and Lorena Janssen of Columbus; and seven grandchildren.

JANSSEN--Janssen Rites - Funreal rites for Thees Janssen, 82, who died Sunday at his home in Columbus, were held Wednesday afternoon at Christ Lutheran church. The Rev. Martin Borneman, pastor officiated and burial was made in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were: George and Dick Dirks, Edward Hollman, Adolph Behrens, Howerd Burdick and Irvin Pap. KALAMAJA--Rites Held Today For Former Pastor Of St. Bonaventure
    Funeral services for the Rev. Fr. Theobald Kalamaja, O.F.M., 83, a former pastor of St. Bonaventure's church in Columbus, were held today at St. Stanislaus church in Cleveland.
    Father Kalamaja, the oldest in his order, died in Cleveland Sunday.
    A native of Poland, he joined the Sacred Heart Province of the Order of St. Francis in 1889. He celebrated his golden jubilee in religious life in 1939, and the golden sacerdotal anniversary in 1945.
    He was pastor of St. Bonaventure from 1903 to 1906. He was for 21 years pastor and assistant pastor emeritis of Immaculate Conception church in Omaha, and also served as pastor at St. Stanislaus church in Cleveland, the largest Polish parish in the United States.
    Surviving are a brother, W.M. Kalamaja of Omaha, and five sisters and a brother in South Bend, Ind.

KORTE--Korte Rites - Funeral services for William J. Korte, 67, who died Sunday at the Lutheran hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. Martin Borneman officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial park. Pallbearers were Ewald and Elmer Hake, Ladean Korte, Norman Loseke, Edgar and Raymond Cattau.

KLUCK--Mrs. Dora Kluck Dies; Services On Wednesday
    Mrs. Dora Minnie Kluck, 64, Columbus, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary's hospital following a week's illness.
    Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gass funeral chapel with the Rev. R.M. Jensen, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed church, officiating. Burial will be made at Clarks.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass chapel from 3 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the service.
    Mrs. Kluck, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Kirkman, was born Jan. 11, 1888 at Holstein, Germany. As a child she came to the United States with her parents, and they settled in Platte county.
    Her marriage to Herman Kluck took place Oct. 18, 1905 at St. John's Lutheran church, Shell Creek, and they made their home in Merrick county. Following her husband's death in 1927, Mrs. Kluck worked in Columbus and surrounding towns, and before her last illness was engaged as a companion for Mrs. Catherine Bernt.
    She is survived by three children, Walter and Marvin Kluck of Clarks and Mrs. Frank Blahak of Columbus; one sister, Mrs. Karl F. Mueller of Columbus; a brother, William Kirkman of Omaha; and nine grandchildren.
    Mrs. Kluck was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Henry Kirkman; a sister, Mrs. Frank Korger, and another sister who died in infancy; and two grandchildren.

KNIGHT--Mrs. Knight Dies - Mrs. James Knight, 75, Creston, died last night in Columbus at the home of her son, Clarence Knight. The body has been taken to the Leigh funeral home, and arrangement are pending.

KLUCK--Services Held - Funeral services for Mrs. Dora Kluck, 64, who died Sunday at St. Mary's hospital, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Gass funeral chapel followed by burial at Clarks. The Rev. R.M. Jensen, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed church, officiated at the services. Pallbearers were: Joe Monson, Alvin Peterson and Martin Danklenson of Clarks, Herman Blahak, Frank Korger and Louis Borneman.

JOHANNES--Services For Miss Johannes On Saturday
    Funeral services for Miss Josephine Marie Johannes, 72, Columbus, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran church with the Rev. A.H. Guettler officiating. Burial will be made in Christ Lutheran cemetery.
    Miss Johannes, a life-long resident of Platte county, died suddenly Tuesday morning at her home in Columbus.
    Her body will lie in state at the Gass funeral chapel from 11 a.m. Friday until 8:30 a.m. Saturday night when it will be taken to the home, 3121 Sixteenth street, there to lie in state until the hour of the services.
    The daughter of Heninriche and Marie Klosterman Johannes, Miss Johannes was born Dec. 18, 1879, about 12 miles north of Columbus and there grew to womanhood. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran church.
    In 1910 she moved to Columbus with her brother, William, and sister, Louise. Here she was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church.
    Miss Johannes is survived by two sisters, Louise Johannes of Columbus and Mrs. Minnie Barjenbruch of Leigh. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William, Paul and John; and two sisters, Mrs. Gesina Lindeman and Mrs. Anna Kumpf.

KROPACH--Former Nebraskan Dies - Mrs. O.J. Kropach, 72, passed away Friday night in a hospital at Newcastle, Wyo. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at Newcastle. Mrs. Kropach formerly lived between Osceola and Duncan. She is a sister of Mrs. Otto Hasselbalch.

KRAUSE--Funeral Services Held Friday For Former Resident
    Funeral services for Carl Krause, 75, former Columbus resident, were held Friday from the First Lutheran church, North Platte, followed by burial in the North Platte cemetery.
    Mr. Krause died Aug. 25 in Lincoln following a lingering illness.
    He was born near Jena, Saxony, Germany, on Oct. 18, 1876, and came to the United States with his parents when he was two years old. He lived in Columbus until 1917, then moved to North Platte where he was engaged in farming and cattle raising.
    Survivors are: his wife, Martha; daughter, Mrs. Pauline Lierley of Paxton; son, Lawrence of Imperial; two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Martens of Maywood and Mrs. Amelia Plageman of Columbus; one half-brother, August Schneiderheinz of Central City; and three grandchildren.

KUSEK--Dies In Oregon - John Kusek, a former Columbus business man, died last night at Portland, Ore. Funeral arrangements are pending. Mr. Kusek, brother of Adam Kusak [sic] of Columbus, lived here until about 10 years ago.

KUSEK--Funeral Services Tuesday for John Kusek
    Funeral services for John Kusek, 58 [sic], a former Columbus resident, will be held at 9 a.m Tuesday at St. Stanislaus church in Portland, Ore., followed by interment at Mt. Calvary cemetery.
    Mr. Kusek died Wednesday night at his home in Portland following a heart attack.
    He was born Dec. 14, 1888 at Tarnov, the son of Joseph and Josephine Augustine Kusek.
    He married Helen Flakus on Feb. 12, 1908 at St. Mary's church, Elyria and in 1919 they moved to Columbus. Mr. Kusek was engaged in business here until 1942, when he retired and moved to Portland.
    Survivors are: his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Joe Kudron of Portland, Ore; four brothers, Mike and Andrew of Elyria, Joe of Hastings, and Adam of Columbus; six sisters, Mrs. John B. Zulkoski and Mrs. Jim Iwanski, Elyria, Mrs. Joe Knopik, Ord., Mrs. John Michalek and Mrs. Ray Harrahill, Omaha, and Mrs. Carrie Flakus of Vancouver, Wash.; three grandsons, Jackie, Joey and Kenneth Kudron of Portland, Ore.
    Mr. Kusek was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frank, and one sister, Mrs. Frank Dubas.

LUCHSINGER--John Luchsinger, 80, a retired Platte county farmer, died at 8:50 a.m. today at the Lutheran hospital following a lingering illness of several years. He had been bedfast the past 10 days.
    Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the family home, 3115 Seventeenth street and at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical and Reformed church with the Rev. R. M. Jensen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in Calvary cemetery of St. John's Lutheran church.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass funeral home chapel from 11 a.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday, at which time it will be taken to the family home, there to lie in state until the time of the services.
    Mr. Luchsinger, son of the late Fred and Agatha Luchsinger, was born Jan. 27, 1872 at Schwanden, Glarus Canton, Switzerland. In 1889 he came to the United States, and since that time resided in Platte county.
    He began farming in Bismark township in 1897, retiring in 1931 to make his home in Columbus. Mr. Luchsinger served as treasurer of District 36 school board from 1900 to 1930.
    His marriage to Herminnie Gigax took place April 20, 1899 in Columbus. Mr. Luchsinger was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church.
    Survivors include: his widow; four daughters, Mrs. B. W. (Martha) Gertsch of Stromsburg, Mrs. Francis (Florence) Dischner of Columbus, Mrs. Eldon (Helen) Nielson of Monroe, and Miss Bertha, at home; one sister, Mrs. Henry Stori of Schwanden, Switzerland; six grandchildren, Mrs. James Miller of Omaha, Harriet and Dorothy Gertsch of Stromsburg, Patricia Ann and Linda Marie Dischner of Columbus, and Mary Ellen Nielson of Monroe; one great grandchild, Connie Marie Miller of Omaha.
    One daughter, Olga, 11, and a brother, P.F. Luchsinger preceded him in death.

KUSEK--Funeral Servies For John Kusek Held In Oregon
    Funeral services for John A. Kusek, 68, a former Columbus resident and businessman who died Sept. 3 in Portland Ore., were held in Portland Sept. 9 at the St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with the Rev. Stanley Smigiel officiating at the Requiem high mass. Burial was made in the Mt. Calvery [sic] cemetery.
    Active pallbearers were: Martin Czuba, Hood River Ore.; Carl Augustyn, Portland, and four of Mr. Kusek's nephews, Rudolph Flakus, Shelton, Wash.; Louis Flakus, Lewiston, Idaho; Robert Flakus, McNary, Ore.; and Ralph Flakus, Vancourver [sic], Wash.

KACZOR--Rites Friday For Charles Kaczor
    SILVER CREEK (Special) - Funeral services for Charles Kaczor, 64, who died suddenly Monday afternoon at his home in the Pilsno community, will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic church, Pilsno. The Rev. Adam J. Szmydt, pastor, will officiate and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
    The body will be taken from the Fleming Funeral home in Silver Creek, to the family home at 5 p.m. Thursday there to lie in state until the hour of the services. Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Thursday at the home.
    Mr. Kaczor was born March 25, 1888 in Polk county and spent his entire life on the home farm nine miles north of Osceola. On July 5, 1920 he was united in marriage to Miss Tillie Molczyk at Primrose.
    Surviving are his widow; three sons, Martin and Mark, at home, and Pvt. Philip Kaczor of Ft. Ord, Calif.; one daughter, Mrs. Tony Micek of Silver Creek; three sisters, Sister M. Cleta of Tarnov, Mrs. Sophie Munson of Fullerton, Miss Gertrude Kaczor of Omaha; one brother, William Kaczor of Columbus; and one grandson, Jimmy Allen Micek.

KOSCH--Alois D. Kosch Dies; Funeral Services Friday
    Alois D. Kosch, 65, Shelby farmer, died at 11 p.m. yesterday at a local hospital. Death resulted from injuries sustained when he fell Friday while fixing second-story windows at his farm home.
    A requiem high mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart church, Shelby. Burial will be in the Shelby cemetery.
    He is survived by his wife and seven sons, Howard, Max and Joe, owners of the Kosch Mfg. Co., Columbus; Harold and Gerald, of Shelby; Delmar, now serving in the Navy; and Donald, serving in the Army.
    Three daughters, Mrs. William Behrns of Wahoo, Mrs. Theodore Aerts of David City, and Mrs. B.H. Gottesfeld, Hartford, Conn., also survive.

KRAUSE--Rites Monday For Mrs. Meta Krause
    Funeral services for Mrs. Meta Krause, 81, who died Friday morning at the Lutheran hospital, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday from the Gass Funeral Home chapel and at 2:30 p.m at the Shell Creek Baptist church, with the Rev. Paul Hunsicker officiating. Burial will be made in the Shell Creek Baptist cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the Gass chapel from 11 a.m. Sunday until the time of the services.
    Mrs. Krause, daughter of the late Frank and Theda Dues Kamm, was born at Ostfriesland, Germany on Sept. 21, 1871. When she was 14, she came to the United States with her family and they made their home at Glenvil, Neb.
    She married F. Joseph Krause at Glenvil on April 25, 1890 and they resided in the Grand Prairie township of Platte county until 1915, when they moved to Coumbus. Her husband died Jan. 8, 1946.
    Mr. Krause was a member of the Shell Creek Baptist church and had been a charter member of the Ladies Aid.
    She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry Kuper of Salem, Ore., Mrs. John Borcher of Columbus, and Mrs. Walter Wetgen of Platte Center; one brother, Harry Kamm of Platte Center; one sister, Mrs. Mike Langan of Monroe; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchidren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, her parents and two brothers.

KIERNAN--Mrs. Mary Kiernan Dies; Funeral Services Monday
    Mrs. Mary Kiernan, 81, formerly of Columbus, died about 3 p.m. Thursday at her home at St. Edward following a two-month illness.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the St. Edward Catholic church with the Rev. James Brady officiating. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.
    The body will lie in state at the family home at St. Edward from 1 p.m. Sunday until the hour of the services. Rosary will be prayed there at 8 p.m. Sunday.
    Mrs. Kiernan, the former Mary Steinbach, was born at Clinton, Ia., on April 24, 1871. She was the daughter of Theodore and Gertrude Stoeffels Steinbach.
    Her marriage to Frank Kiernan took place at the Albion Catholic church on April 25, 1892 and they made their home at St. Edward. Mr. Kiernan preceded her in death.
    From 1919 to 1946 she lived in Columbus, then returned to St. Edward where she had since resided. She was a member of the Altar Society of the St. Edward Catholic church.
    Survivors are: six children, Mrs. Kathryn Flaherty, Jim and Agnes Kiernan of St. Edward, Mrs. Gertrude Warren of Grandview, Mo.; Clarence and Cecilia Kiernan of Columbus; one brother, Theodore Steinbach of St. Edward; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, son, George, and her parents.
