VAN HEUFELN, Zeide--Mrs. Zeide Van Heufeln Dies at Home Near Leigh
    Leigh, Apr. 13. -- Mrs. Zeide Van Heufeln, 79, a resident of Platte county for 40 years, passed away at her farm home northwest of Leigh Wednesday evening. She had been in failing health for nine years as result of complications following a severe attack of influenza in 1920, and her condition had been rendered more serious by injuries received in a fall last winter. Funeral servcies are to be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh at 2 p.m. today, the pastor, Rev. John C. Kaiser, officiating, with burial in Zion Lutheran cemetery.
    As Zeide Ubben, Mrs. Van Heufeln was born in Germany Aug. 29, 1849. In 1875 she was married to Lumke Heyen Franzen. In 1881 they came to America, settling at Nokomis, Ill. Mr. Franzen died in 1883. On Oct. 2, 1885, she married Henry Van Heufeln. Four years later they came with their family to Nebraska, settling in Platte county. Mr. Van Heufeln died of influenza Mar. 10, 1920. Mrs. Van Heufeln was so seriously ill at the time that she was not expected to live, and she was not notified of her husband's death until immediately prior to his funeral.
    Mrs. Van Heufeln is survived by five sons and one daughter, Heie, Ubbo, and Frank Franzen; Herman, Edward and Miss Emma Van Heufeln, all residing near Leigh; 18 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

MEYER--Funeral services for P. H. L. Meyer, 62, retired farmer who died suddenly yesterday afternoon as result of a heart attack while resting in the Tony Moschenross soft drink parlor, are to be held Monday afternoon at 2:30 at the Gass chapel, with burial in Columbus cemetery. Mr. Meyer, who was born Apr. 23, 1867, in Hanover, Germany, as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meyer, came to America and direct to Columbus about 43 years ago. Later he went to Creston to engage in the mercantile business and it was there he married Miss Mary Westmeyer, Feb. 12, 1892. The family moved to a farm north of Columbus soon after, and resided there until Mr. Meyer retired a few years ago and came to Columbus to reside. With the widow, the nine surviving children are: Mrs. Gene Ainsworth, Columbus; Mrs. Fred Anthony, of Omaha; Mrs. Henry Brockman, Columbus, and Regina, Elmer, Alvin, Raymond, Louis and Melvin Meyer, all residing at the family home, on Thirty-fifth avenue. One brother and three sisters reside in Germany. Four children, Ernest, Arthur, Helen and Pearl, preceded him in death.

FARLEY--R. M. Farley Dies - R. M. Farley, 76, died at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Terrell, 3102 Nineteenth street, at 3 p.m. today. Mr. Farley, who has been employed as a laborer by Dussell and Son for the past 15 years, suffered a stroke of apoplexy while returning to work after the noon-day lunch, about 1 p.m. today. He was stricken while passing the Stanzel Brothers Bakery and was taken to the office of Dr. B. C. Tiesing. An ambulance was summoned and he was then taken to the Terrell home where his death occurred about two hours later. Mr. Farley is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Terrell and Mrs. Arch Welsh, of Columbus, and Mrs. L. H. Green, of Cheyenne, Wyo. Mrs. Farley died a number of years ago. The funeral arrangements will be announced in The Telegram tomorrow.

FARLEY--Funeral of R. M. Farley - Funeral services for Robert M. Farley, 76, resident of Columbus for the past 13 years, who died suddenly Monday afternoon following a stroke of apoplexy, was held at the Gass chapel at 10 a.m. today. Rev. F. A. Carmony, pastor of the Methodist church, officiated at the services and burial was made in the Columbus cemetery. The bearers were William Fox, Fred Sawyer, R. B. McCray, William Lyons, John Duval and Ed Borke. Mr. Farley was the father of Mrs. Frank Terrell and Mrs. Arch Welch, both of whom reside here. Mrs. L. H. Green, who is also a daughter, and her sons, Leonard, jr. and Dale, of Cheyenne, Who., and A. M. Farley, of Kennard, a brother, and Mrs. Edith Welch, of North Platte, were the relatives from a distance that attended the funeral.
