Section numbers (S) are given as a reference point only and are as found in the 1899 Atlas. In some cases, the buildings were moved or a new building constructed nearby which may have resulted in the school locating in a different section.
District No. 27 (S28?, T19N, R4W) - "Center" was organized April 26, 1872.

District No. 59 (S8, T18N, R4W) - "Woodville" was formed March 19, 1878 from District No. 47.

According to the March 5, 1886 Columbus Democrat, during February there were 28 pupils enrolled with an average daily attendance of 16. Lizzie Wright, Teacher.

District No. 62 (S26, T19N, R4W) - "Palestine" was formed February 25, 1879 from District No. 26.

District No. 68 (S2, T18N, R4W) - "West Hill" was formed December 30, 1882 from District No. 26.

A petition to divide the school district in 1890 was signed by the following community leaders: M. M. Kelly, Mrs. G. W. Kenyon, Mrs. R. B. Thompson, Arthur Bishop, M. E. Sallack, William Webster, William Hollingshead, C. C. Cummins, James Irwin, Frank Cummins, Joseph Webster, R. D. Crossitt, Mrs. T. B. Gerrard and E. A. Gerrard. Later census reports showed the following directors of school districts in the township: George C. Smith, Henry Crosier, J. W. Currier, J. S. McNabb and W. J. Irwin.
