Obit: Physician IS SUMMONED FROM HIS LIFE WORK
Dr. P.D. Kelly Passed Away at His Home in Nemaha Tuesday Morning
After a Long Illness----Will Be Missed Both as a Physician and Long Time Citizen of Community
DR. P. D. Kelly passed away at his home in Nemaha at 4:45 o'clock Tuesday morning.  His death was not unexpected, but nevertheless it brought a sense of real sorrow to the many friends throughout the community who knew him not only as a skilled physician, but as a splendid citizen of the community, in which he had lived many years.  Dr. Kelly had been in failing health for some time and several weeks ago entered the Auburn hospital for treatment and examination showed that his days were numbered.  However, it was found possible to remove him to his home in Nemaha where he death occurred.
Dr. Kelly had been engaged in the practice of his profession at Nemaha for the past sixteen years.  He was most conscientious in his work and faithful to the high obligations that his profession imposed upon him.  This  result was that he won the confidence of the people and enjoyed their respect and highest regard.  In private life he was  a man of high ideals and a valuable citizen of the community in as much as he took an interest in public affairs and could be depended upon to lend his support to all movements having for their object the public welfare.  His  was indeed a useful life and his contribution to the well being of his fellow men was a worthy one.  The friends who mourn his death extend their sincere condolences to the members of the bereaved family.
Dr. Kelly  was born at Johnsville, Morrow county, Ohio June 26,1870.  After having acquired a public school education and laid the proper foundation, he took up the study of medicine and was graduated from Ensworth Medical College at St. Joseph, Mo.  He was married to Miss Pearl Jefferies at Corning, Mo. in 1906 and they became parents of four children: Gene Kelly of York, Nebraska and Nellie, Frances and Stewart of Nemaha.  He is also survived by two grandchildren and by one sister, Mrs. Coffman, of Forest City, MO. and three brothers , Roy Kelly of Giles, Utah, Foy Kelly of Falls City and Ray Kelly of De DeWitt, Neb.
During the World War he served with a medical unit stationed at Camp Dix and at the time of death was a member of the American Legion, thus giving in time of peace support to those principles which he had espoused in time of war.  He was also a member of the Christian church, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Woodmen of the  World.
The funeral, which was attended by a large gathering of sorrowing friends, was held from the Christian church in Nemaha, Thursday afternoon and following the services the remains were laid to rest  in the Nemaha cemetery with military honors.
