I am searching for the marriage of John Weaver BAILEY [aka Weaver Elmer BAILEY] and Nellie Bessie BECKWITH. John and Nellie had 6 children, two of whom, Walter Edward (1905-1968), and Robert Wayne (1906-1938) were born in Culberson, Hitchcock Co. Neb. Their third and fourth children, Harry M. (1908-1944) and Bessie Irene (1909-1990) were also born in Neb but I don't know where. Their fifth child Velda (1913-1987) was born in Colorado and last child John Jeston (1918-1977) was born in Kansas. When John Weaver and Nellie's last two children were born he was working for the railroad. He worked for the AT&SF in La Junta, Colorado and the Union Pacific in Manhattan, Kansas. Is there a railroad line through Culberson? Any information on the marriage of John Weaver and Bessie or the birth place of Harry and Bessie will be appreciated.

I am researching my step-father's people who spent time in Hitchcock and Red Willow Counties. Family names include BAILEY
SCHLEGEL, LEPPER, and possibly KOETTER. William and Clara BAILEY were originally from WI and came to the NE c1910-1915. His wife was Clara and their children were Mildred, Ben, Roy, Rob, Ralph, Phil, William, and Nola. Samuel and Mary SCHLEGEL were in NE by 1875 and in Hitchcock Co by 1885. Children included Dallas, Asa, and Clinton plus two others. C William and Minnie LEPPER were in Red Willow Co in 1900 but at least one son, Henry and one daughter Alma were in Hitchcock Co, by 1910. Alma married Clinton SCHLEGEL. The KOETTER's fit in there somehow, but my step-dad doesn't remember exactly how. I would love to correspond with anyone who knows about these people.

First,Thank you for any help. My great great grandfather, Henry Johnson BAILEY was living in Stratton during the mid 1880's. He was married to Mollie Lee (WHITEMAN). They had two sons in Stratton, Burke B. Bailey born 1884, and Roland Burgan Bailey born 14 Sept 1887. Both sons moved east and are buried in WV., but Henry is not. Trying to put together my family history book. But because of a divorce so many years ago, I do not have much. I have this old birth certificate of my fathers, Kenneth Gordon BLANK, b. Feb 10, 1914 in Gordon Neb. his father: William John BLANK, b. Marion, Wis. mother: Georgia LYON, b. Gordon, Neb. William and Georgia had two children, my father Kenneth and his sister Loreen. William and Georgia were divorced, and Georgia married 2nd husband Frank SWANEY. There was never an adoption, but both children Kenneth and Loreen used the SWANEY name. I found a Carl BLANK, in Hitchcock Co. Portrait Index, 1886. Also a John BLANK in the Hitchcock Co. Portrait Index, 1906. Then there was a Charlie Andre BLANK, in the Trenton Register, July 20, 1918. 14 Feb 1999: Here is the add'l info I have. Rose MINARAY I think died in Oklahoma. Hazel BYMER married Roy STEWART and they lived on a farm north of Culbertson and had 12 children. I have been told that there are several of them still living in the Culbertson & McCook area. Rose and William BYMER lived in the Culbertson area for a lot years and then moved to Pawnee OK. Rose was born 1853(?) in France or Greensburg In. area. William BYMER near Cincinnati, Oh. The only information I have on one of the children of William Bymer & Rose Minary BYMER is Bertha M. BYMER (b: 4-25-1878 d: 2-22-1906) she married Dallas G. DIVINE 9-1-1897. This info is from an obit I found. The other children of William & Rose BYMER are Cora (m: LOVE), Ida (m: DIVINE) Hazel Leota (m: STEWART) Alta, Frank never married as far as we know, and Roy I. (d: 1981) (m: Eunice ?) They had at least two dughters: (1) Martha Demaris Carroll, b. 4 Jan 1858, Macon County, GA; d. 26 Nov 1937, Mendon, Chariton County, MO. She married George Thomas Manlove, 10 Mar 1878; and (2) Letitia, about whom I have no information other than she lived in Trenton, Hitchcock County, NE. George's parents lived in Gosper county but George had moved to Trenton to farm and the young couple moved there. George's death is listed in the SSDI but Margaret's is not. Seeking information on the birth of my maternal grandmother, Achsah R. Cole. Reportedly (SS) born in Hitchcock County, Ne. to Nesbit H. Cole and Mary Brown Cole in 1884. Since the parents were from Ohio, and later lived in Ohio, one possibility is that Nesbit Cole may have been serving in the army at that time. Achsah Cole (Bertram) reported on her Social Security application, Hitchcock County as her place of birth. Any clues would be appreciated.

I am looking for information about a business in Trenton, Hitchcock County, Nebraska. It was the Trenton Lumber Company owned by my grandfather, Charles Alvah ("C.A.") Dalzell. It was downtown and he also sold farm equipment. The lumber co. would have been run by him during the late teens and 1920's. They had moved from the area by 1930. I am hoping to find a picture of it. I was told as of the 1950's the building was still there. Any help would be appreciated. If anyone has a copy of the 1920 census for Trenton I would appreciate a lookup of the Dalzell family. I am doing research on the Jacob HOFFMAN family that immigrated from the Volga Region of Russia to Culbertson, Nebraska abt 1892.
Death records indicate that my father Henry HOFFMAN, b 1893, and his brother, Joseph HOFFMAN, b 1894. were both born in Culbertson, Ne.
Family tradition states that my Grandfather, Jacob HOFFMAN (w.Catherine BAUER),was employed by the Burlington & Missouri River RR in Culbertson until about 1896 when the family moved to Fall River County, South Dakota. I am looking for any source that might have birth records for Henry and Joseph and possible marriage records for Jacob and Catherine.
Greatly appreciated would be any specific information concerning the day-to-day operation and impact of the Burlington RR in Culbertson. Also any ca. 1890 photos of the RR and/or the area. Many Thanks.

What I don't have is any information on Joseph Kautz's parents and grandparents. Which I don't what there names were. Back in the 1940-1950's Joseph Kautz burned all of those pictures of his parents and grandparents. I do know that Joseph's parents did come from Merkel, Russia. According to recent family information, Maria(h) Satchell was living with her son, Augustus Lundy somewhere near Culberston at the time of her death. Family records show the date as 11 Jan. 1899. She was buried in a cemetery about 11 miles northwest of Culbertson with only a wooden marker to show her grave site. Another son, Matthew Simpson Satchell was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church in the Holdredge District from 1903-29. He died in Culberston in 1939. I'm trying to verify all of this and, especially to find an obituary or any other information that might name her parents.
