He recently held a farm sale and last week the Vlach family moved to town and now are occupying the former John Mastny acreage property owned by John Prokopec. We welcome the family into our midst and Mr. Vlach into our business circle.

Mrs. Zrust, the former Mrs. Uher and her late husband Emil Uher, moved to Clarkson nineteen years ago, when they took over the tavern formerly operated by the late Henry Knapp. The Uher¹s always ran a clean-cut tavern without any major law infractions. Mr. Uher passed away in death in 1933 and since then his widow, now Mrs. Zrust, operated same. Mr. and Mrs. Zrust are as yet undecided as to their future plans.

SEWING MACHINE TROUBLE CAN NOW BE SOLVED
If any of the women in this community are having trouble with their sewing machine, they will do well to stop at Roether & Brabee¹s Gamble store in Clarkson. A representative from the Jonas Sewing Machine co. of Schuyler and Columbus, will be at the Gamble store every Thurs. You can bring your sewing machine troubles to him. They repair and service all makes of machines. The Jonas Sewing Machine Co. sell the famous Necchi and Elna sewing machines.

FORMER CLARKSON LADY DIES IN OHIO
Saturday morning, Joh Urbanek of this city received the sad intelligence, informing him of the death of his sister, Mrs. Julia Yonkers at Bedford, Ohio, who passed away in death early Saturday morning ... (remainder cut off in reproduction)

    One of the features of the sale will be the introduction of a new auctioneer, Col Harold Meyer, residing north of Leigh. Mr. Meyer is a graduate auctioneer and the public will have the opportunity to see him in action. Two other good standby auctioneers, Col. Stanley Svoboda of this city and Col. Bohous Hobza of Dodge will also be on the job ­ They will be assisted by Clarence Musil of this community.

FOOD SALE SATURDAY The ladies of the American Aid society will a food and bake sale, Saturday Febr. 27th at the Lions club at Clarkson, starting at 2 o¹clock. They will have for sale all kinds of pastry and other foods.

TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL
Mrs. William Najman of this city became suddenly ill Tuesday of last week and she was taken to the Schuyler hospital for medical treatment. We understand she has been suffering with a severe attack of flu and gall disorder and complications. She improved to such an extent that she was able to leave the hospital Sunday and is recuperating at home. During Mrs. Najman¹s illness, Mrs. Frank B. Houfek is assisting with the lunches at the local school.

APPLEGATE vs ROUCKA SUIT SETTLED OUT OF COURT
Monday, Feb. 15th was the date set for the hearing in district court at Schuyler of the Applegate vs. Roucka auto damage suit. Mary F. (E?) Applegate, administratrix of the estate of her husband, who died following the accident, filed a suit for approximately $67,000. The State of Nebraska was also made defendant in the case because the late Mr. Applegate was an employee of the state. She has been drawing compensation payments from the state.
    Shortly after the jury was selected, the attorneys from both sides reached an agreement to settle the case out of court and the plaintif agreed to accept the payment of $3,625 in settlement of the case. Each side agreed to pay their own costs.

AUNT JEMIMA DID NOT COME TO HOWELLS
Because of snow bound roads and inclement weather, Aunt Jemima did not appear at the Vrba IGA store at Howells, Saturday as was advertised. She plans to come to the store in about two weeks. Watch The Press for date.
