ONDRACEK, JOHN LAWRENCE [August 16, 1912 - October 14, 2000]
JOHN ONDRACEK SERVICES OCT. 17
    John L. Ondracek, 88, Dodge, died Oct. 14, 2000, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
    Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 17 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dodge. Father Dan Wittrock officiated. The church choir provided music.
    Interment was in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery, rural Dodge. Pallbearers were Ron Dostal, Brent Krumbach, Steve Sebranek, Bud Kracl, Ray Ladwig and Bernie Bunn. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan and Alex Ondracek, Elizabeth Sebranek and Bridget Krumbach. Graveside military rites were conducted by Dodge Legion Post 122.
    Visitation was held Oct. 16 from 3 to 8 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service for the public at the church. A prayer service was held at 10 a.m. at Humlicek Funeral Home.
    The son of Charles and Elizabeth (Vafek) Ondracek, he was born in Schuyler. He attended District 15, rural Schuyler, and District 49, rural Rogers. From 1926 to 1943, he helped his father with farming. In 1943, he entered the U.S. Army at Fort Warren, Wyo. He spent his active duty in the Pacific Theater and was discharged Aug. 7, 1945.
    He married Elsie Semerad on Oct. 28, 1947, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dodge. They lived on a farm north of Rogers and then moved to a farm southeast of Dodge where they lived to the present time.
    Ondracek was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 122 of Dodge and was a member of Dodge Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8597. He was a past ASCS Dodge County board member. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.
    Survivors include his wife; one son, Daniel (Carol), Topeka, Kans.; two daughters, Donna (Mrs. David) Krumbach, Shelby, and Joyce (Mrs. James) Huston, Columbus; six grandchildren: two brothers, Laddie, Tulsa, Okla., Chuck, Schuyler; and three sisters, Elsie Hall, Julie Volenec and Georgia Paskach, all of Omaha.
    He was preceded in death by a brother Joseph, and four sisters, Mildred Kracl, Marie Sorenson, Agnes Ondracek and Blanche Radek.
