SPRECHER, SARAH ANN (RENSHAW)
Mrs. George Sprecher died Sunday at her home in the southwestern part of the city. She had been ill for some time and it was seen that she could not last long, hence her children were summoned to her bedside last week. Her death was mainly the result of old age. Mrs. Sprecher was 73 years of age at the time of her death and was born in Pennsylvania where she was married 56 years ago to George Sprecher and where they resided till coming to Nebraska in 1871. They took up a homestead in midland precinct where they made their home till several years ago when they came to Schuyler to pass the remainder of their declining years. Mrs. Sprecher was a woman of rugged and upright character, kind and gentle to all, was the possessor of rare mental abilities and honored and loved of all who knew her. She was the mother of a large family, twelve children being born to the union, of which ten are still living., and the high character and worth of every one of these children is a living testimony to the nature and care of as noble a mother as ever lived. The aged husband, who is 91 years of age survives her. The children are: Mrs. Mary Thomas of Norfolk, John of Washington, D.C., Scott of Sotia, this state; Frank who lives in Missouri, Phil of Norfolk, Mrs. J. O. Dane of California, Theod of Norfolk, Ed who lives at Omaha, Mrs. John Dane of Grant precinct and Clarence, whereabouts unknown. The sympathy of hundreds of friends of the county is extended to the sorrowing ones. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon. Rev. D C Pattes officiating and the remains were interred in the cemetery here. The ladies of the Eastern Star took charge of the funeral obsequies and preceded the hearse to the Grave.
