SEMERAD, JOSEPH ANTON [November 13, 1883 - November 9, 1964]
FUNERAL FOR JOS. SEMERAD
    Joseph A. Semerad passed away Monday, November 9, 1964 at a West Point Nursing home.
    Services were held Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at Prucha Funeral Home and at 9:30 Father Anthony Pluhacek officiated at requiem mass at St. Mary Catholic Church at Tabor. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Norbert, David, and Kenneth Reznicek; Marvin and Ralph Semerad and Glen Dloughy.
    Mr. Semerad was born in Colfax county on November 13, 1883, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Semerad (nee Frances Kudlecka), pioneer farmers in this area. On April 16, 1912, he was married to Miss Mary Budin at St. John's Catholic Church in Howeels by Father C.L. Zak.
    They lived on a farm in the Howells-Dodge locatlity and in 1946, Mrs. Semerad was claimed by death. Later Mr. Semerad moved to Howells to reside.
    Survivors include two sons and two daughters: (Emma) Mrs. Adolph Reznicek of North Bend, James Semerad of Dodge, Louis Semerad of Howells, (Mary) Mr. Frank Vogeltanz and Jos. J. Semerad both of Dodge, 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
    Mr. Semerad was preceded in death by a brother Anton and 4 sisters, (Agnes) Mrs. John Bobisud, (Bessie) Mrs. Amos Dostal, (Mary) Mrs. Frank Brichacek, and Rose Semerad, one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
    The deceased was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Tabor and the ZCBJ lodge of Howells.
