Funeral Services For Ferdinand Ulrich Saturday
Prominent Monterey Farmer Laid To Rest in St. Boniface CemeteryFuneral services for the late Ferdinand Ulrich prominent Monterey [Cuming County, Nebraska] farmer were conducted Saturday by Rev. Monsignor H. Schoof assisted by Rev. A. S. Kluthe and Rev. Paul Beine, at St. Boniface Church, Monterey. The large church was crowded to capacity with the relatives and great numbers of friends who assembled to pay final tribute to this respected citizen.
Ferdinand L. Ulrich was born near Monterey on October 14, 1878 and died July 9th 1930 at 2:30 P.M. following an illness of 12 days after an auto accident in which he suffered a broken neck.
He was engaged in farming all of his life and had gained prominence in the Monterey community where he lived. On Sept 27, 1905 he was united in marriage to Lena Kluthe at Oleyen Nebraska who with their six children is left to morn his passing. He was road overseer and treasurer of the township board and director of the school board in his district. He was a member of the Knighs of Columbus and a trustee of the Monterey church.
Surviving him are his wife, six children Mrs. J. H. Heiman, Joseph, Wendolin, Gertrude, Hildegarde and Roman, three brothers Theodore, Carl and August, two sisters Mrs. Conrad Kluthe and Mrs. Ben Vogel and his aged mother Mrs. Louis Ulrich.
Those from out of town to attend the funeral were: B. J. Kluthe and family of St. Edwards, Andrew Miller and family of Cedar Rapids, Ferdinand Walter of Lindsay, Clem Walter and Conrad Litz of Crofton, Henry Kloesner Sr. and Henry Kolesner Jr. and family of Creighton, Ignatz Grotte of Bloomfield. Ferd Ulrich and family of Norfolk, Mrs. Joe Hron of Schuyler, Mrs. Connot, Miss Margaret Irle, Paul Connot and John Marx of Spencer.

Albert Vogel Laid to Rest at Oleyen Saturday
Funeral Services For Pioneer Resident Held Here at St. Joseph ChurchFriends and relatives of the late Albert Vogel thronged the St Joseph church Saturday morning for the last rites for this pioneer resident of the Oleyen community. Services were conducted at 9:30 at the church by Father Vogel. Many people from the Dodge and Oleyen vicinities as well as from distant places came to pay final tribute to his memory. He was laid to rest in teh Oleyen cemetery.
The deceased was stricken with asthmatic bronchitis about 10 days previous and compliactions brought on by his advanced age proved fatal as he passed away at his home in Dodge at 2 p.m. Thursday. He had reached the age of 83 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Mr. Vogel was a native of Germany. He was born Aug. 9, 1853 in Thirstigel, Germany. Sixty years ago his parents came to America and he followed a year later, settling with them on a farm near Howells, later moving into the Oleyen community.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Pieper, July 13, 1880 at Oleyen, and last July they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They moved to Dodge 10 years ago. He was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Joseph Parish of this place. His kindly disposition and many charitable acts has won for him many friends.
Surviving him are his wife and 10 children, (Lena) Mrs. Jake Gwehr, Ukiah, Calif.; (Mary) Mrs. J. C. Kluthe, Dodge; Bernard, Dodge; (Lizzie) Mrs. Henry Parr, Petersburg, Nebr.; (Minnie) Mrs. John Parr, Dodge; (Dora) Mrs. Henry Kampschneider, Great Falls, Mont.; Joseph, William and Albert, Dodge; and (Julia) Mrs. Herman Hogeman, Howells.
He also leaves 51 grand children and 8 great-grandchildren.
