Loretta Matilda(Schmit) Janicek 1906-1981

Funeral services for Mrs. Leo (Loretta M.) Janicek of Bellwood were conducted Wednesday morning, Dec. 23, from St. Peter's Catholic Church, with Father Robert Roh officiating. Mrs. Janicek, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Columbus Community Hospital following a two week illness. Pallbearers were grandsons, Randy, Dan, Larry, Gary, Greg and Kenny Janicek. Burial was in St. Peter's and Presentation Cemetery.   Loretta M. Janicek, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicolas Schmit, was born April 6, 1906, at Bellwood. She attended Marietta School.  On April 7, 1926, she was united in marriage to Leo Janicek. Two sons were born to this union. They were engaged in farming near Bellwood until 1963 when they moved into Bellwood.  She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, St. Peters Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters of The Americas, the Bellwood American Legion Auxiliary, and The Victory Valley Extension Club.  She is survived by her husband, Leo of Bellwood; two sons, Gerald Janicek of Bellwood and Melvin Janicek of David City; one sister, Eleanor Decker of Casper, Wyo.; one brother, Peter Schmit of David City; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Her parents, three brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
