June F. Gander (d. 26 July 2008, age 80)
A funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, in Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel for June F. Gander of Newberg, who died July 26 at age 80. June F. Osborne was born June 5, 1928, in David City, Neb. She moved in 1946 to Newberg, to Bend in 1969, and returned to Newberg in 1984. She was a homemaker and a salesclerk for Bi-Mart in Bend and Newberg for more than 20 years. In 1948, she married David Gander. Survivors include her husband; daughters, Patricia Pogan, Susan Mitchell and Catherine Condit; son, John; sister, Gladys Moist; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. U. S. Gelwick Death.
Funeral Services Were Held on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 1945.

Funeral services for Mrs. U. S. Gelwick, 65, who departed this life Monday, Sept. 24, after a lengthy illness, were held in the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 26.  Rev. J. F. Taylor pastor of the First Baptist Church in Octavia, was in charge.  There were two vocal solos, “O Blessed Life, the Heart of Rest” and “The Lord’s Prayer” given by Ray Bock with Mrs. A. L. Embree accompanist.  Interment was in the David City Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers:  Paul Duren, Fay Kilgore, Charles Lnenicka, John Parsley, Archie Raitt and Floyd Want.

Nettie Graham was Mrs. Gelwick’s maiden name.  A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Graham, she was born at Joliet, Ill., on September 26, 1879.  She lacked but two days being 66 years of age at time of her death. 

Coming to Nebraska with her parents at the age of seven years she lived in the Seward vicinity until after her marriage to U. S. Gelwick on December 24, 1895, when she came with her husband to Butler county to establish a home.  At time of her passing the Gelwick family resided on a farm near Rising City.

Mr. Gelwick survives his wife, as do a son, George; a daughter, Mrs. Chester Dollison; two grandchildren, Mrs. Russell Vanderkolk and Rollin Dollison; one great grandchild, James Vanderkolk; and two sisters, Mrs. J. R. Bookwalter of Sterling, Colo., and Mrs. Sarah Worrell of Illinois.  A son Walter, and daughter, Clara, preceded her in death.

In her early married life, while residing near Octavia, Mrs. Gelwick was baptized into and united with the Baptist church of Octavia, continuing to follow in that faith throughout her life.  She lived a very active Christian life, thinking only of the welfare of her family and others.

Those coming from away to the services were Mrs. Ida Ekart of Sterling, Colo., Mrs. L. E. Sharp of Denver, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Howard Graham of Gresham, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lauer and Mrs. Howard Poe of Surprise, William Rutten and Mrs. Theodore Rutten of Palmer and Ervan Worrell and Mrs. Alice Copeland and Maxine of North Loup.

Barbara Jean (Michael) Gonzalez 1933-1966

Funeral Services Held Here for Mrs. Gilbert Gonzalez on March 10

Funeral services were conducted Thursday morning, March 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church here for Mrs. Gilbert Gonzalez, 32, Austin, Texas, who died Monday, March 7.   Officiating at the low mass of requiem was the Rev. Edwin Stander with Gene Coufal as commentator and Ray Smith as lector.  Pallbearers were cousins Mrs. Gonzales, Kenneth G., Edward and Robert Schmit, Gerald and Melvin Janicek, and Lawrence Puetz. Burial was in St. Peter and St. Mary Cemetery near Bellwood.  In attendance at the services were all of her brothers and sisters except Robert and Eileen. Other relatives also were present from Goleta and Garden Grove, Calif.  Barbara Jean, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Michael, was born July 10, 1933, at David City. She collapsed in the dispensary at Bergstrom, Tex., AFB on March 3, 1966, and remained in a coma until her death on March 7.  An autopsy confirmed her death was the result of a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage.  She attended St. Mary's Grade School and was graduated from David City High School following which she attended Sacred Heart College in Wichita, Kansas, for one year.  She resided in David City to 1951, in Lincoln from 1951 to 1954, and was married in 1956 to Gilbert J. Gonzalez at St. Brigid's Church, San Francisco, Calif., where the couple resided until 1959. They resided four years at San Diego before moving to Austin, Texas, in 1963. They were the parents of five children, Mark, Michael, Ann, Karl and Elizabeth, all of whom survive.  Mrs. Gonzalez had been teaching at San Jose School in Austin. She was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church.   In addition to her husband and five children, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Ann Michael of Bellwood; five brothers, Harold J. Michael of San Lorenzo, Calif., Robert D. Michael of Phoenix, Ariz., Leon B. Michael of Cadillac, Mich., Richard F. Michael of Lincoln, and Edward N. Michael of San Francisco, Calif.; and three sisters, Eileen Michael and Mrs. Karl H. (Mary) Kester of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Tony (Betty) Hiller of Bellwood.  Her father, E. M. Michael, preceded her in death in November 1961.
