Anne (Schmit) Frieden 1844-1907

Mrs. John Frieden died at her home in the valley east of Bellwood, Monday, February 11, 1907 at 1:30am at the age of 63 years, after an illness of only one day, being taken sick during Saturday night.  Deceased was born February 27, 1844 in Gostingen, Luxemburg, Europe and with her husband came to this country, being among the pioneer settlers in Butler County.  Deceased leaves a husband, two daughters, three brothers and two sisters to mourn her departure. Her daughters, Mrs. J. W. Demuth of Savannah township, with whom Mr. and Mrs. Frieden have lived for a number of years, and Mrs. Michael Medinger of Bone Creek township. Her brothers are Heller Smith of Bone Creek and Nick and Neil Smith, who reside in Iowa, while the sisters are Mrs. Jacob Demuth of Bone Creek and Mrs. Jacob Beringer of Savannah township. They are all among the highly respected citizens of the county.  Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church in the Luxemburg settlement in the valley on Tuesday at 10 o'clock am. Rev. Father Hoffman conducting the services. May her soul rest in peace.  The bereaved relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of their many friends.
