Lowell F. Dunker, 86, Norfolk, formerly Seward, died Monday (6/5/2006) in Norfolk. Born Jan 11, 1920 in Surprise. Graduated Surprise High School, 1937. First lieutenant, B-17 pilot, U. S. Air Force, World War II.  Married to Goldie Winterfred on June 22, 1943 at Stockton Field, Calif. Member, Seward United Methodist Church. Retired, farmer for 28 years.  Survivors: son, daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lois Dunker, Seward; daughter, Kay Eagle, Marehette, Wisc; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: parents, Charles and Hazel (English) Dunker; wife, Goldie; brothers, Ivan, Lloyd.  Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Volzke Funeral Home, Seward. The Rev. Al Smith. Military graveside service, Blue Valley Cemetery, Surprise. Visitation: 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. today, with family from 6:30-8 p.m., funeral home.

Anthony R. Dworak 1901-1954

Anthony R. Dworak, 53, a retired David City businessman died early Friday morning. at David City hospital. He had been in ill health for several months and death was the result of coronary thrombosis.  Mr. Dworak operated the D-X Service Station for 15 years until his health forced him to retire in January of this year.  Services were conducted Monday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Alphonse J. Lisko in charge. Rev. Ernest J. Sloup gave the sermon.  Music was by the St. Mary's choir.   The pallbearers were Louis Tomek, Otto Kriz, Bill Samek. R. A. Reid, W. L. Wertman, and Ray Bock. Members of the Knights of Columbus of which Mr. Dworak was a member, attended in a body.  Burial was at St. Mary's cemetery. Mr. Dworak, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dworak, was born April 16, 1901 at David City. He attended school here and graduated from David City High School in 1920. For a short time he studied voice at the University of Nebraska School of Music before joining a chautauqua circuit.  For nine years he traveled as a member of the chautauqua circuit and the American and Tiffany quartettes. His travels took him through 47 states of the United States and nine provinces of Canada.  Following his retirement from this work he worked as an automobile salesman until he leased the D-X Service Station.  On Oct. 19,1933, he married at Presentation Church, Marietta, to Matilda Morbach. Three children were born to this union, Don, now a student at the University of Nebraska and Jean and Mary at home.  For several years, Mr. Dworak served on the boy scout committee here. He was an avid sports fan and for many years had attended all of the athletic events of David City High School. In addition, he attended the football games at the University of Nebraska.  In addition to his widow and three children, Mr. Dworak is survived by two brothers, C. G. Dworak of Oakland, Calif., and County Clerk Joseph J. Dworak of David City; and niece, Dorothy Collins of Oakland, Calif.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and two brothers.  Illness prevented C. G. Dworak from attending the services Monday, but those from out-of-town. who attended included Mrs. Dorothy Collins and daughter, Vicki, of Oakland, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. John Puetz, and Mrs. Harold Meysenburg of Albion, Pete Puetz of Columbus, Mr. awl Mrs. John Homan, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Homan ad Mr. and Mrs. Lavern Goering of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Johnson. and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Toman of Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Smith, Mr. James Malliard, and Mrs. Marie Morbach of Omaha: Miss. Evelyn Morbach of Amarillo. Tex.; Mr. and Mrs. Pat Stump of York; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Olinger and. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schmit of McLean; and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Nordhues of Randolph. Relatives and friends from Brainard and Bellwood were also in attendance.   Sunday callers at the Dworak home included Mrs. Mary Homan, Mr. and Mrs. Art Primrose, John Paul Homan, and Mr. Goering of Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Zimmerer of Avoca.
