John Maloney Chief Gunner's Mate, U.S.N. retired died yesterday afternoon at the residence of his sister on Randall Street. He had been a resident of Annapolis for the past forty years and had been retired from the navy about fifteen years. Death was due to arteriol-sclerosis. He had been confined to his bed for the past sixteen weeks. The deceased is survived by one sister, Miss Margaret Maloney, and one nephew, Dr. J.J. Murphy. The remains will be taken to his old home at Hudson, NY for interment beside his parents in the family burying ground. Requiem mass will be celebrated at S. Mary's Church at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning and the remains will leave on the 7:20 car. -The Evening Capital, 12 Feb 1918

DEATH OF HENRY TIDINGS - Aged Farmer and Father of Judge Tydings passes Away - At an early hour this morning, Mr. Henry Tydings aged, 85 years, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Carrie B. Brice at St. Margaret's, in the Third district.Death was due primarily to an attack of acute indigestion, with which the old gentleman was afflicted some two weeks or more, ago. About sixteen days ago Mr. Tydings was found lying in an unconscious condition, by his daughter, with whom he lived, and he never recovered from this attack. He was one of the oldest farmers in Anne Arundel county and a highly respected and venerable resident of St. Margaret's He was the father of Judge Henry A. Tydings, Chief Judge of orphans' Court. The other surviving children of the deceased are Dr. Oliver Tydings of Chicago; Mrs. Emma F. Dulaney of Philadelphia; and Mrs. Carroll C. Brice, at whose home he died.The deceased never but once held a poltical position that was thirty years ago, when he acted as tax collector during the old regime when there was such an office. As tax collector and he filled out the unexpired term of Tax collector Anderson. The funeral will take place on Sunday morning at 11 o'clock from the late residence, the Rev. J. H. Billingsley pastor of Asbury M. E. Church, St. Margaret's officiating. The interment will be in the family burying ground at St. Margaret's. -The Evening Capital, 15 Dec 1911

FUNERAL FOR MR. TIDINGS - An aged Saintly Man Who Did Much Good Laid to Rest - Mr. Henry Tydings, who died December 15, 1911, at his late residence, was buried on Sunday in the family buring grounds on the farm of the late William Stinchcomb. A large number of friends attended the funeral.Rev. J. H. Billingsly preached an impressive sermon to the living, spoke beautifully of the departed saint, who was converted when he was fourteen years of age, and lived the life of a Christian, doing good whenever he had the opportunity. He sheltered the orphans, having raised sixteen children outside of his own. He celebrated his eighty-fifth birthday on September 21 surrounded by his children and grand-children, those that were near by. His four children are Judge H. A. Tydings of St. Margaret's; Dr. Olive Tydings, of Chicago; Mrs. Emma F. DuLaney, of Philadelphia; Mrs. C. Carroll Brice, of St. Margaret's. He left thirteen grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. His Pallbearers were Henry T. Anderson, Oliver S. Anderson, Solon C. Anderson, Charles L. Tate, Alfred Johnson, and Elder Tydings. TYDINGS, Judge Henry A. – died 11 Feb 1918
Judge Henry A. Tydings, Judge of the Orphans' Court of Anne Arundel County for 12 years, died last night at his home on Burley Heights Farm, in the third district, near St. Margaret's in the 68 year of his age. The death of Judge Tydings followed a protracted and painful sickness of several years duration Judge was elected to the bench of the Orphans' Court of the county in 1891, and four years later he was made chief judge, a position that he held for eight years. Judge Tydings was a member of Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, South, located at Arnold, in the third district, where he was one of the official body of the church. The deceased lived a consistent life marked by uprightness immoveable firmness in things he considered right kindness and helpfulness to others. In official conduct he wore the ermine without spot or blemish. He took great interest in public and political affairs, his conduct always tending toward the right result. Judge Tydings leaves two children, Roy V. Tydings, a clerk of the city council of Annapolis and Mrs Richard Duvall, wife of Richard Duvall, clerk of Land Office. Judge Tydings was the son of Henry Tydings who recently died in this county at the age of 84 years and the grandson of Lloyd Kensey Tydings one of the early American writers in favor of Methodism. He family is one of the earliest in Maryland's history. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Asbury Church. DEATH OF MRS. TIDINGS - Estimable wife of Orphans Court Passes away with old year. With the passing of the old year life of one of the most estimable Christian women of the county passed out. Mrs. Alverta Tydings age 54 years, wife of Chief Judge Henry A. Tydings of Orphans Court, died at an early hour New Year's morning, January 1, at her home near St. Margaret's. Besides her husband, Mrs. Tydings is survived by two children, Mrs. Irma Duvall, wife of Mr. Richard Duvall of St. Margaret's and Roy V. Tydings, of this city, owner and proprietor of Main Street eating Saloon, Mrs. Tydings death was due to an attack of pneumonia which developed from a heavy cold. She was only sick for a shout time. She was always hardy and had excellent health, enjoying out door sports and frequently went gunning with her husband. She was ducking with her husband in one of the blinds near their home a few days prior to her late illness and was a crack shot with her rifle, shooting 12 ducks that day. Mrs. Tydings was an exemplary wife and mother, a devoted Christian and friend. Her death is mourned by a large circle of friends and relatives, by whom she will be greatly missed. The funeral took place this morning. Services were held at the late residence near St. Margaret's at 10:30 o'clock and were conducted by the Rev. Alex Galt, rector of St. Margaret's P. E. Church. The remains were brought to Annapolis for interment in Cedar Bluff. The burial services were conducted by the Rev Billingsley, minister of Holy Trinity M. E. Church South. The remains were taken direct to the cemetery. The Pallbearers were Messrs. Oliver Anderson, Charles Tate, Robert Pumphrey, John L. Stallings, Richard Duvall, and Roy V.
