I am trying to establish a connection between William H. and Rachel A. TURBUTT with the descendants of Michael TURBUTT who immigrated to the Eastern Shore about 1660. I am looking for descendants of the sons of Michael TURBUTT and Sarah FOSTER. I am aware of the TURBUTT women who married into the John and Nicholas GOLDSBOROUGH families and the, BULLEN, FRANCIS, WRIGHT families but there are few male descendants who are carrying on the TURBUTT surname. Therefore my search is directed at finding the descendants of the following: a.) Samuel TURBUTT b abt 1670-80s, d abt1720/1 who married Sarah JOLLY and also married Rachel GOLDSBOROUGH in 1714. b.) Nathaniel TURBUTT a brother of Samuel TURBUTT. c.) Richard TURBUTT b 13 Dec 1681 d.) William TURBUTT b 18 Feb 1683, d 1739 who married Elizabeth EARLE Sep 1712 and their son Michael TURBUTT b ?? or other sons of that marriage if any. e.) Henry TURBUTT b 15 Jan 1703 (believed a twin of Mary TURBUTT) son of Foster TURBUTT and Bridget STONE. f.) I am also looking for both the ancestors and descendants of Greenbury TURBUTT who married Sarah Loockerman COOKE on 11 Feb 1819. I believe that they had children Samuel TURBUTT, James Edward TURBUTT and Anna Maria TURBUTT. Census References which I cannot relate to a specific descendant line. The 1860 Census of Easton, p 22, line 7 lists a Wm. TURBUTT, age 24 as a journeyman cabinet maker. The 1850 Census of Easton a Wm. TURBUTT, age 14 living with a BATERMAN (sp??) family on a farm. There is also a Susan TURBUTT, age 53 listed in Easton on p 77 The Census of 1850 for Kent County lists a William B. TURBUTT , age 40, farmer with Mary E. age 19, George R. age 12, and Hannah, age 5. The 1830 Census for Talbot County, p 5 also lists a William TURBUTT. The 1820 Census, Talbot County, Election Dist No. 3 p 0029 lists a Samuel TURBUTT The 1810 Census, Talbot County lists a Sam TURBUTT, p 353 or 404? The 1800 Census, Talbot County lists a Polly TURBUTT p534 and a Samuel TURBUTT p 527. The 1790 Census, Talbot County lists Samuel TURBUTT p102. I know I have gone on extensively, but I wanted to show you where I am running into a dead end. I also saw a reference once of, I believe an indentured servant or convict by the name of TURBUTT but I cant find the reference. He too may play a roll in this search. I would appreciate hearing from you with your thoughts or guidance. Thanks in advance, Bill Dorn 1305 Daventry Driive DeSoto, TX 75115 (972) 298-0549

Jean Standridge Wilson jean.wilson@sonoma.edu Sat Dec 28 18:56:18 1996
I am trying to locate information on James or Alexander Standridge (about 1765 - Maryland) There may have been another brother named Samuel. I know that they (or their descendants) later moved to Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana and Arkansas. However, I do not know if James or Alexander (or Samuel) were born in the United States, immigrated, were British soldiers or indentured servants. Seems unlikely to have been servants because two or more brothers have been found at this period, so perhaps they were soldiers, or were descendants of earlier immigrants. Can anyone assist me? I do not even know what county to start looking in.
