Descendants of John WILSON

FIRST GENERATION

1. John WILSON(1) (2) was born about 1630. He died about 1690 in A. A. Co., MD.

He came to Md. ca. 1656 with John Burrage and Gerard Hopkins.

The will of Luke Gregory of Anne Arundel Co., dated 11 April 1694 and proved 16 April 1694, left personality to: Elizabeth Porter, Anthony Drean, Sarah, Martha, Rachel, Deborah and Mary James, Elizabeth wife of John WILSON, and James Loyloe. John WILSON Sr. was named executor and residuary legatee of the estate. {note: Sarah, Martha, Deborah, Rachel, and Mary James were the daughters of Richard and Eleanor James of Herring Creek Hundred in Anne Arundel Co. Richard James died in 1687.).

A John Wilson witnessed the will of Thomas Segwick of Calvert Co., on 11 Jan 1698. John Wilson also witnessed the will of James Cranford of Calvert Co. 4 May 1696.

According to a deed dated 19 May 1666, John WILSON had been one of five earlier purchasers of one acre lots that were surveyed for the town of Herrin Creek.

In 1665 John Burridge sold 100 acres of the tract BURRIDGE to John WILSON.

SECOND GENERATION

2. John WILSON (1) was born about 1665. He died in 1702.

He Witnessed of will James Leech of Calvert Co. on 3 May 1700.

In the 1707 Rent Rolls of Anne Arundel Co. the tract called "Spencers Search" 17-1/2 acres is listed as possessed by James Lee for John WILSON's orphan's. Also in the land rents the boundary for the tract "Brickhead's Chance" in Herring Creek Hundred is listed as bounded by a Hiccory of John WILSON's. In 1707 John Wilson is listed as owner of a 45 acres part of "Pascal's Purchase". A john Wilson listed as possessor of 12-1/2 acres and later 27 acres of the tract "Heath's Purchase" in Anne Arundel Co. Also in the 1707 rent rolls James Lee is listed as possessor for the orphans of John Wilson of 62-1/2 acres of the tract "Trent" located on Hunts Mount on the west of Herring Creek Bay.

As part of the sale of "Pascal's Purchade" to John Wilson in 1700 by Thomas Tracey and his wife Susannah (Sivick-Hawkins) Tracey, Susannah Hawkins, widow posted bond 10 Nov 1700 to John Wilson the elder. This is a fairly complex sale as it turned out there was a shortage in the land sold by Thomas Tracey and Susannah and Thomas left the province to escape debts, leaving Susannah behind with children to deal with the problems, including the shortage of acrage that was sold to John Wilson and others.

Deed from John WILSON the Elder of Herring Creek planter and John Wilson, the youger, son of John Wilson the Elder, of AA Co., planter to Christopher Vernon of AA Co dated 10 Dec 1701 (recorded 11 Nov 1703) for L8 That lot at Herring Creek Town and house containing one acre of land between a creek and an orchard....John Wilson, the elder possesses this by Act of Assembly dated 2 Oct 1683 for advancement of trade and erecting of Towns.

John Wilson by deed of Gift dated 29 May 1688, among other things gave this property to John WILSON the younger, after the decease of John Wilson the Elder.

John WILSON and Margaret KIDDE had the following children:

William WILSON and Rachel CHILES (OR CHILD) had the following children:

4. John WILSON (1). On 4 April 1709 John WILSON, planter of Herring Creek sold to John Giles for L30, three parcels of land totaling 85 acres including parts of "Pascal's Purchase", Burgess' End" and "Heath's Purchase".

FOURTH GENERATION

6. John WILSON (1) was born about 1726. He died on 21 Mar 1807.

He was married to Susanna GITTINGS (daughter of Thomas GITTINGS and Hannah CLARKE) on 8 Sep 1747. John WILSON and Susanna GITTINGS had the following children:

FIFTH GENERATION

10. Gittings WILSON (1) was born on 4 Jan 1750. He died on 18 Jan 1834. He was Quaker.

He was married to Jane RUTLEDGE (daughter of Abraham RUTLEDGE and Penelope RUTLEDGE) on 23 Jun 1779 in Baltimore Co., MD. Jane RUTLEDGE (1) was born in 1759. She died on 29 Aug 1831. She was Episcopalian. Gittings WILSON and Jane RUTLEDGE had the following children:

22. Mary WILSON (1) was born on 1 Nov 1786 in Baltimore County, MD. She died on 4 Feb 1875 in Baltimore City, MD. She was buried in Greenmount Cemetery.

She was married to Alexander BRISCOE on 14 Aug 1809 in First Methodist Episcopal Church, Baltimore, MD. Alexander BRISCOE(1) was born on 5 Feb 1786 in Eastern Shore. He died on 31 Aug 1820 in Lancaster, PA.
NOTE: "Grandfather Briscoe fought in the War of 1812."

She was married to Dixon Stansbury MILES (son of Aquila MILES and Elizabeth STANSBURY) on 5 Feb 1833 in Baltimore County, MD. Married by Rev. John Johns, later Bishop of Virginia at Christ Church Parish, Cahse & St.
Paul St., (P-E), Balto. Dixon Stansbury MILES (1) was born on 4 May 1804. He died on 16 Sep 1862 in Harper's Ferry, MD. He was buried in St. James Churchyard. He was a Military. He was Episcopal. He was educated U. S. Military Academy (West Point). Sarah Ann BRISCOE and Dixon Stansbury MILES had the following children:
