The following appeared in the Covington Journal - Saturday, December 4, 1869, page 2, column 4

Confederate Dead, Buried at Battle Grove Cemetery
Remains of Confederate dead interred last week at this base of the monument erected to perpetuate
their memory. Also 25 others, whose names are unknown were also buried. Persons wishing information

The death certificate for William Moses Moore states he is buried at Battle Grove. In "The History of Kentucky" by
Z. T. Smith, 1892 it is stated Moore entered the Confederacy in May 1861 as a private. He was wounded at the Battle of
Lexington; made Adjutant the next December and made Lieutenant-Colonel in 1862 and Colonel in April 1863. He
commanded a brigade the last year of the war. Returned to Missouri in July 1865, but moved back to Harrison County,
Kentucky in 1882, close to where he was born. William was elected to the Kentucky Legislature from Harrison County
