Samuel Shannon

Samuel Shannon was born in Ireland about 1749. In 1776 he was a graduate of the College of New Jersey. Samuel Shannon was ordained into the Presbyterian Church in 1781 and given a
ministers license. Mary E. "Ann" Henning, born about 1752 in England became his bride on June 3, 1787 in Augusta County, Virginia. Samuel joined the fight for independence serving as
a chaplain and Dragoon leader in the Revolutionary War.  He moved to Kentucky in 1789 and is listed on the tax list for Fayette County. In 1791, Shannon as Chaplain, traveled with General
Scott in the Blackhawk War. On December 12, 1794, along with Caleb Wallace, Samuel was listed as a trustee of the Kentucky Academy. Along with fellow minister, James M. Gready,
Samuel founded the Presbyterian Synod at Salem, Washington County, Indiana.

County, Kentucky.  Mary was born May 6, 1831
Thompson J. Shannon, born on December 26, 1852 in Franklin County married Mary Elizabeth Willis, born September 23, 1858
in Kentucky
Lucy May Shannon, born on March 28, 1879 in Clay County, Missouri.  Lucy married Lewis Edward Stout, born March 31, 1874 in
Taney County, Missouri.
Emma Clair Stout, born July 13, 1897 in Clay County, Missouri married Ray Wilson, born August 23, 1891 in Cass County, Iowa
Norene Elizabeth Wilson, born December 11, 1925 in Clay County, Missouri married Finice Ray Clark, born October 10, 1921
Lee County, Texas
Faith Omega Clark, born November 15, 1941 in Yuba County, California
