John Lewis Family


John was born about 1783 in North Carolina. He came to Franklin County around 1800 and settled in the Stoney Creek
area of Bald Knob where he purchased most of the land along the Kentucky River. On November 28, 1810 John married
 Martha "Patsy" Prewitt, born August 8, 1788 in Virginia.  John, Martha and several of their eleven children are known
to be buried in the Lewis Family Graveyard now on the Moore farm.

Children:

William Scott Lewis, born December 23, 1811. He married Rebecca Harp on October 1, 1844.
William died on April 25, 1892. Rebecca was born October 17, 1820 and died December 3, 1819.  
Both are buried at Antioch Church Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky. They were the parents
of; Walter, James, June, Keaton and Louisa.
John P. Lewis, born November 27, 1813 and died April 28, 1877. He married Martha Oliver on
October 26, 1835. Then were the parents of Campbell, Walker R., Margarete, Pamila and Scott.
John is buried in the family graveyard.
Eliza Annie Lewis, born February 27, 1816 and died July 27, 1858.  She married Fielding Lewis
on November 10, 1836.
Walker L. Lewis, born September 3, 1818.  On November 25, 1852, he married Mahala Semones.
They were the parents of: Fielding E., Francis A., Lewellen, Lindon Samuel, Hugh Rodman, Lucy
Jean and Robert M. Lewis.
James M. Lewis, born August 19, 1820. He married America Polsgrove on January 8, 1852. They were
parents of; George Washington, Franklin Pierce, William Henry, Martha, Robert Lee, and Thomas
Jeff. He is buried in the family graveyard.
Martha Ann Lewis, born August 10, 1823 married Royal Wade on April 15, 1852.
Mary Ann Lewis, born October 9, 1825 and died July 27, 1858.
Pamelia W. Pearl Lewis, born May 31, 1828. She married Rice Oliver on February 13, 1850. They were
the parents of; Lewis, Jennie and Ella. Pamelia died on April 27, 1919.
Robert Brown Lewis, born June 27, 1830. He married Sarah Frances Smith on March 29, 1853. She
was the daughter of Daniel and Emariah Moore Smith.  Robert and Sarah were the parents of: Robert
Samuel, Alice May, Sophronia B., Mary Ellen, Emmariah, Ira and Nettie. Robert and Sarah are buried
in the Frankfort Cemetery.
Jane "Jennie" Lewis, born September 3, 1832 and died October 28, 1925. She married Almus
Walker Polsgrove.
Scott W. Lewis, born November 7, 1836.
