Hezekiah Hamilton

Hezekiah Hamilton was born on March 30, 1808 in Kentucky.  He married Catherine Bruner on May 11, 1831 in Clark County, Kentucky.  Catherine was the daughter of John S. Bruner and Rebecca Blackburn.  She was born about August 16, 1812 in Winchester, Clark County, Kentucky.  The Hezekiah Hamilton family first appears on the 1840 census for Clark County, Kentucky. The 1850 Clark County census list the family as; Hezekiah Hambleton, Catherine, Mary E., John, Margaret, Joseph, James, Rebecca and Charles.  Shortly after, the Hamilton family moved to Franklin County and appeared on the 1860 census there.  Records indicate Hezekiah was a wagon maker by trade. Catherine, was living with son Joseph and his family on the 1870 Franklin County, Kentucky census.  In 1880, Catharine, is living with daughter, Rebecca Dodson. Hezekiah Hamilton died on January 7, 1864 in Franklin County, Kentucky and Catherine died much later on January 27, 1900.  Both are buried in the North Benson Baptist Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Kentucky

Mary Elizabeth Hamilton, born February 15, 1832 in Clark County, Kentucky.  Mary married James Holland
Shouse.  The family first appears on the 1860 census for Franklin County.  The couple had children; John W.,
b. 1853; Hezekiah, b. September 1854; Catherine A., about 1857; Edmonia, September 1857; Mary, b. 1860;
Lelia, b. 1863; Rebecca R., b. about 1865; James H., b. October 1865; Icy, b. about 1871; Birdit, b. about 1873
and Sarah M., b. about 1875.
Susan B. Hamilton,  born on July 18, 1833 in Clark County, Kentucky.  She was not with her family on the 1850
census.
John B. Hamilton, born on March 15, 1835 in Clark County, Kentucky.  He married Mary E. Tracy on October
23, 1856 in Franklin County.  The family is first listed on the 1860 Franklin County census.  John and Mary had
children, all born in Franklin County, Kentucky;  Lew Allen, b. August 29, 1857; Joseph B., b. February 7, 1859;
Mahala Ann, b. October 20, 1861; John H., b. about 1864; James, b. about 1866; Mary B., b. about 1871; Mattie M.,
b. about 1875; William C.,b. June 1875 and Clara, b. March 15, 1878.  Mary Tracy Hamilton died on August 22, 1905
and is buried in the North Benson Cemetery in Franklin County, Kentucky.
Margaret Ann Hamilton, born on May 24, 1837 in Clark County, Kentucky. She married John Daniel Moore
on December 18, 1856 in Franklin County, Kentucky.  John D., the son of Arch and Nancy Moore, was born on
May 4, 1835 in Franklin County.  Margaret died on March 24, 1901 and John on July 26, 1924.  Both are buried in
the North Benson Cemetery in Franklin County.  Margaret and John had the following children all born in Franklin
County: Nancy, b. November 25, 1857; Thomas Daniel, b. November 20, 1859; Lucy B., b. on December 1, 1861;
Mary E., b. about 1864; Catherine D., b. November 3, 1867; John W., b. May 24, 1868; Stoddard J., b. April 3, 1871;
George Bain, b. about 1873; Archibald A., b. August 1875; Sarah Ann, b. December 7, 1877; Luke Blackburn,
b. December 1879; Minnie Margaret, b. October 3, 1882.  
Joseph Blackburn Hamilton, born October 16, 1840 in Clark County, Kentucky.  He married Orpha Ann Rupe on
December 6, 1863 in Franklin County.  She was the daughter of John and Orpha Rupe.  Orpha was born about
1848 in Franklin County and died on July 14, 1874 in Franklin County. The family first appears on the 1870
census for Franklin County, Benson District.  Joseph and Orpha had the following children all born in Franklin
County; Anna A., b. October 16, 1840; Ella, b. about 1866; Druscilla, b. about 1867; Carrie, b. born about 1870
and Sally, b. May 1873.  Joseph Blackburn Hamilton married second Nellie E._____? about 1890.  Joseph died on
November 25, 1916 and is buried in the Frankfort Cemetery, Frankfort, Kentucky.
Sarah Hamilton, born in 1842 in Clark County, Kentucky. She was not with her family on the 1850 census.
James Asking Hamilton, born November 20, 1842, probably in Clark County, Kentucky.  On the 1860 census, James
was living with his family, age 17.  There are two marriages recorded in Franklin County for a James Hamilton.  On
March 22, 1864 a marriage to Sarah Crutcher and on February 14, 1867 to Georgia Hockensmith.  James Hamilton
does not appear on an 1870 Kentucky census.  He may have died or moved out of state.
Rebecca Hamilton, born December 24, 1846 in Clark County, Kentucky. Rebecca married Fielding B. Dotson on
January 22, 1868 in Franklin County, Kentucky.  The family first appears on the 1870 census for Franklin County with
daughter, Laura, age 1.
Charles Daniel Hamilton, born June 16, 1849 in Franklin County.  In 1870 Charles was living in the household of his
brother Joseph.  In 1880, Charles is living with his family in Shelby County.  He married Irene ___? bef 1873.  They had
children; Clarence A., b. October 18,1873; John L., b.March 1875; Ernest, b. 1876; Charles, b. 1880; Lena, b. January 1882;
Chester A., b. January 1884; and Mary A., b. October 1888.
Catherine Hamilton, born August 15, 1851 in Franklin County and died October 10, 1859 in Franklin County.
