Zebulon Butler Coffin

Newport's oldest citizen, Z B Coffin, died this morning at the
residence of his daughter, 14 West Front-st. after a lingering illness due to
old age.
The deceased was for 60 years engaged in the wholesale and retail grocery business in Cincinnati, his place of business being located on the south side of Fifth-st. between Vine and Race. For some years back Coffin had not been engaged inactive business, but the business he founded is still being carried on on Pearl-st. Cincinnati.
Coffin was 93 years old and leaves a daughter, Mrs. Dalton, with whom he made his home. Another daughter, Mrs. Salt of Salt Air, O. also survives. He had been a resident of Newport since a boy, and was the senior Warden of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He was on of the founders of the Church and has held the position of Warden for years.
The last 10 years although unable to attend to the duties of the position, the congregation of St. Paul's has honored him with re-election. He son, John is engaged in business in the Argentine Republic, South America. The funeral arrangements have not been completed.
