NEWPORT
A LARGE number of surviving friends paid the last sad tribute due
the dead to Captain W C Dunkhorst yesterday. The funeral services were held at
his last home on Saratoga street, near Mayo and were conducted by Rev Mr.
Cornick.
The Knights of Honor, of which the deceased was a member attended in a body and the following gentlemen acted as pall bearers: Messrs. Charles Rademacher, Edward Prather, George Jennings, James McGinnis, Joseph Kendall, Joseph Farrell and Rudolph Schneider.
The casket was covered with many floral offerings of appropriate designs. A pathetic scene of the funeral was the attendance of a number of scholars of the class of which the deceased was a teacher. The remains were placed in the vault at Evergreen Cemetery.
