NEWPORT
MAN WITH A GUN-Will Velkley, the saloon keeper at Finchtown, sent in a hurry call for the patrol wagon last night. His brother Pat had visited the saloon and was tearing things wide open. He had a gun and Will said that he was afraid to venture out.
Pat stopped Frank Bregel, one of the race track deputies and tried to borrow a gun from him. He later secured one elsewhere. As the police have no jurisdiction in Finchtown they could not serve Velkley.
